He is muting strings while he plays or should I say touches them. The low E string shows visible vibration on the lightest pluck. This is B.S. A Hoax just like his other videos
I have been trying to play this properly for years (20 odd!) Well I say this version more like the original version which was written by Bert Jansch and called black waterside (released on an album called Jack orion in 1966 look it up I am sure its here somewhere) and old unlce Jimmy P just changed the title. Note for note it's almost exactly the same, not plajurisim just homage I am certain. JP is always excellent!
Can't see his other hand? You lot obviously don't play the guitar. It would be as hard to learn the picking and not the fingering as it would to do both - in fact no it would be harder and you'd go nuts.

Dude, its obvious that your not even playing. your hardly picking at the strings. maybe if you spent less time pretending you can play guitar and more time practicing you could actualy learn black mountain side
Come on guys. He doesn't show the left hand because a friend is actually playing the other part on another guitar. This is also known as sleight of hand. You want to learn how to play this song go watch troubleclef's version.
Nice one, man. We need more people with the heart and soul to play the good tunes and share. Keep it up. By the way, another good 'picker' is Bruce Cockburn (pronounced Ko Burn). Try his 'Foxglove'.
its really clean, but there's something odd about the pace--meaning it sounds like the song is cantering rather than galloping...I don't know if that makes sense. When I listen to Page play it, its a dark, almost mystical tune, but in your version it almost sounds like its funny. If that's not helpful then I apologize. It's still a very good version and better than I can do.
Thanks for the comment, I think I know what you mean, it's not quite as fluid as I would have liked. Of course, in the studio version Page had the tabla helping to keep things galloping along. And, well, he's Jimmy Page.
nice but i thought youd be a drummer for some reason.

it's just a huge delay thats all you can look at his picking at the beginning, it matches everything its just that there is a delay.
