  • i'm so depress right now cuz i can't get a japan visa since don't have a bank account and they require 3 months so i have to wait until october when the price for the tickets r down , but after watching this video i'll just go to seoul while i wait in may - but i have no idea what to do there besides lotte world and jeju island , what can u recommend me there? and how many days would be good for first timer , thanks " still depress =( "

  • Awwh wow it's just like London's underground but much cleaner hahaha.

  • hello! at 0:50, do you know what's the meaning of the number 2 digit beside the korean word? **on the signboard above the entrance.

  • Wow so much more simple than I thought it would be :)

  • seoul has beautiful subways, as opposed to dirty cities like tokyo or new york

  • @japantruthify001 HEHE Tokyo is not a dirty city at all, and cannot be compared to New York AT ALL.. I am korean, but I have been to tokyo many times and it's subways as well as streets are as clean if not cleaner and MUCH more beautiful then those in Seoul.

  • I just get excited every time I see something about Seoul, I cant wait to visit! this was a cool video! Thanks for the upload!

  • I lived in Tokyo for six years. All those people standing on the left side of the escalators would get knocked down or pushed in Japan. Left side is for walking / running. Right side is for standing.

  • This is pretty useful info.I am going to Seoul next month and was wondering how the metro there works. Thanks michaelarnold13 so much.

  • before I went to korea, i watched this video and my korean friends were so surprised because I knew how to get a subway ticket and how easy it was to me xD and I was like: thank you michaelarnold13 XD haha

  • @TheZortaw local women? somebody is interested in Korean girls.... well as long as you're open to the culture and are willing to learn their language then you'll be fine

  • I PLAN TO SWIM TO INCHEON FROM THE UK FOR CHARITY IN 2012. I AM CURRENTLY TRAINING. IT IS ESTIMATED IT WILL TAKE ME OVER 18 MONTHS TO DO SO DOWN THROUGH THE ATLANTIC, THROUGH DRAKE'S PASSAGE, AND THEN UP ACROSS THE SOUTH PACIFIC. SO FAR I HAVE RAISED OVER £10.

  • i was amazed by the seoul sub. good rolemodel for the the ones in Europe. as long as ur not color blind u will find ur way even if drunk or on lsd

  • @stephenterill The Subway System in Seoul was based off of a French subway, actually. So it's the other way around.

  • weren't you in one of the episodes of Muhandojeon by any chance? when they filmed in the English Village?

  • hello

    yes, that was me

    thanks for noticing ;)

  • Very nice videos! I decided to stay longer on my business trip to make it a vacation this summer. I am studying all your vids! :)

  • Thank you! I've been here for about 2 weeks and I've been scared to travel anywhere because I was afraid of getting lost in between all the transfers, but after watching your video.. I think I'll be able to handle it! :)

  • dont be apprehensive to venture out

go step by step until your used to it

go to the big stations mid day when its not crowded

once you got the hang of it

    try the big 3

Gangnam station,Dongdaemun culture and history park station and Jongro sam3 ga sttaion

all big, exiting and cool outside of there :)

  • Really enjoyed watching! American here with a strong desire to teach English in South Korea. This is of course once I complete my degree, lol. But now I'll know how to travel in SK before I even get there! :)

  • There needs to be more videos like this on YouTube, something that takes you step by step through journeys

  • thank you

i wish i had the time and money to make more "How to" videos

  • Well done. I recently got assigned to Yongsan and bought my T Money card. I have gone on two metro trips in the past week. Easy to use. Clean. Well lit. Enjoyable experience overall.

  • I wonder who is the one asshole who didn't like this informative video...

  • Great instructional video! I was thinking about making one of these but it looks like you beat me to it. Haha! Green may not be your color, but making videos seems to suit you very well! :-) Excellent job!

  • its a big and complex system

u should make your version my friend :)

  • @michaelarnold13 Thanks for the support 친구!!! That means a lot coming from you!

  • i wanna ask you. is the seoul subway open 24/7? or does it close at night?

  • monday to thursday most trains are running until about 1am ish

friday and saturday atleast they are shut down a little earlier

i heard its to keep the drunks from commuting ?

i dont know for certian but its closed earlier on party nights :)

  • Great video!

  • Great video Mike :D very informative ^^ & the shirt looks good *thumbs up*

  • thanks my friend

    welcome back :)

  • Nice video!

Although I'm a korean living in korea myself, it's real interesting to see from a foreigner's perspective. Never really thought everything in the subway was so nicely written all in english for foreign visitors ^^

PS: actually there are more than just 9 lines in seoul and its surrounding regions. I'm sure you've probably seen the huge scaled map in the subway stations... you'll be surprised even more when you see all the other lines that are planned to be built in following years :)

  • Great video. Not only useful, but nice to see. Nice to see what it all looks like.

  • 친근한 영상이네요 잘 봤어요 ^^

  • this is awesome---i've not seen a better "how to" video for using public transit :-)

  • great video~ thanks for sharing how to use the subway~ it feels like i'm actually there^^ you're videos are so~ fun!! thanks!

  • thank u so much :)

  • I like that song at 8:40.

  • i cant hear it well enough to know what one it is

  • thank you for the vid as always

  • thank u for ur support

  • Cool vid. Does it ever feel weird to talk to the camera, especially in crowded spaces?

  • thank u

when im walking and talking i feel like im talking to you

just like when your acting you just have to make everything around you obivious and be in character

  • Nice video, I enjoyed this informative tour of the Seoul Subway. Things look so well planned and organised over there.

  • thank you

hope you can come along and see for yourself;)

  • Michael!.. you owe them 10,000 won??... what sort of credit do you get on your subway card?

  • i pay my credit card every month

10gs is what i have sent so far this month

  • Why does this video make me excited? I've been on the Seoul Subway so many times!! I need to get back to Seoul SOON..

  • waiting for u

  • Woah, and edit =/

  • @ABombs1 and no twirl...

  • variety my friend :)

  • TY~~

  • Very cool video to say the least. The subway seems very efficient. And to have the signs in english as well must be a huge help for foreginers who might not know Korean. From what I understand you load up a pre-paid card with your credit card or whatnot and then when you go through the turnstyle, it automatically figures how much your fare is?

  • ~u pre pay or u pay as u go

or u use a credit card

  • Thanks for the tour. I love subways and I've got to take the Seoul subway soon.

  • gonna be great

  • Do you know what the first thing I do when I get on youtube?

Go to your channel to see if you have any new videos! haha

seriously... I can't wait to go to Korea and your videos make me excited!

I wish you could upload like 20 videos a day but i know that's impossible.. lol.

    Thanks for such informative videos!

  • @sly0502 thank u so much

    u r very kind and supportive :)

  • Informative video. Thank you. Green is not too bad on you.:)

  • haha thank you :)

  • Do they have all day pass? =D Thanks for the information.

  • @Rymaaaa Wait...I had to rewatch it. Never mind. What is that u use again to beep thru?

  • i dont think they have an all day pass

    but its actually very cheap

u buy a prepaid card, put 5,10,50 dollars or whatever u want and go where u want until u have to recharge it on the same machine i showed in the video

  • @michaelarnold13 ahhh, ok..thats what I thought. thanks!

  • SORRY FOR THE POOR QUALITY

    ITS STILL PROCESSING

CHECK YOUR WATCHING IT IN HD :)

  • @michaelarnold13 yeah...in HD...it looks great..my bad....Thanks...its looks clear now ....

  • and the sound issues?

the Korean crickets at the begining make my voice volume go down

and on the subway the hissing is because the air conditioner fans blow like a wind storm :)

  • Hey..mike what happened to camera quality...and sound....its not like it used to be before? very hard to see clearly thanks
