Great! Once there was a wood cutter who wanted to be an ardent devotee of Rama. But he did not know how to worship the lord. One day a saint advised him chant Rama. The wood cutter couldn't pronounce Rama. The saint thought of an Idea. He advised to wood cutter to to chant Mara instead. Mara in Kannada means "Tree" . So the wood cutter kept on chanting Mara Mara Mara.. .. it finally became maramaramara rama rama rama.. Rama.

The lord blessed the woodcutter and he attained Moksha.

We sing and chant this mantra to awaken our dormant love for God. and God is non different from His names. There are many names of God, and each name is God in His different moods and aspects. These names are God at His most loving, intimate, playful, and informal. That's who I wanna know!
