@jfsa380, I presume that the Amtrak crews were qualified on the equipment as it was in revenue service as one of the Metroliners for a couple months and it went on a nationwide tour pulled by a pair of F69's.
@MrZkr123 To be honest, the ICE alot faster than the Acela even if the Acela is tweeked (alot). The Americans slould stop, using all of there sceintists on war and more on transport.
The fastest Train in Australia is in Queensland I think and it's a Electic Tilt Train does like 150KM/hr tops and I think the track gauge is like 1035mm? So stupid! Mr Rudd I want a bullet Train and I want it now!! Lol. I like the ICE 3 and the AVE (Velaro E) =)
if the french are sissies dumbass then how did they develop 200MPH trains that have had zero fatalities in 30 years?
Why do they have a higher standard of living and better health than americans? If they are sissies then how did they figure out how to be nearly energy independent?
No Americans are sissies for sitting on their asses and fighting change. Americans are sissies for sitting in their diapers and waving their flags while they scream how great they are. Get a life.
If the french aren't sissies howcome they wave the white flag as soon as someone points a gun at them? Americans are great, and most of us aren't retarded.
If the french aren't sissies howcome they always ask for help during wars they're in?
How are Americans sissies if we scream how great we are even though everyone else hates us?
@PossessedDonutz Why don't you go on a little trip to the war cemeteries in Verdun and the Somme and see just how many tens of thousands of Frenchman are buried there. On second thoughts, you probably don't know where Europe actually is, so maybe you should stay in America, as we don't need any more narrow minded, loud mouthed Americans over here.
@PossessedDonutz its obvious you have no world knowledge. The french have a history and world contribution and were doing it long before the USA was even colonised by the Wonderful and great British.
Not by federal law really... more of track condition. Supposedly in bad shape but there haven't been too many derailments or tracks breaking from it. And they're still running between 60 - 150 MPH. Slow compared to some places, but still high speed rail and good enough for us.
And succeeded. The ICE network in Germany (if you'd know about that being from NZ) is highly successful and profitable with ICE-3 trainsets going at 300kph.
There are some details you can't see at first. An ICE-1 always has a special bistro-car in the section between the first and second class. It is the one with the higher roof. It also does not have the devided nose for coupling with an other train. therefore the front lights are lower than the ones on an ICE-2. An ICE-1 also has 2 motor-cars, an ICE-2 has only 1.

How come the ICE train isn't on the NEC anymore?
URUMIKLET 4 weeks ago
@moredonutsforme I think it's 14 plus the locos so that's 16.

I would love to see German technology against Canadian-French on the NEC and German track.

Why was a train from Germany is in America?
FrogBoyMO 10 months ago
@FrogBoyMO, Amtrak tested the German ICE and Swedish X2000 prior to ordering the Acela.
oaksmodelrr 10 months ago
did a german crew or an american crew run it, if american, was there a german specialist instructor or something?
p.s. was it a revenue train?

The ICE is WAY superior to Acela in every way.

AMTRAK should have bought a fleet of ICE's. Bad move developing the Acela.

Acela is a French TGV under all the make-up and clading
Xantec 1 year ago
@ccolimon the Acela's are built to be able to handle speeds of and faster than ICE they are capable of 200+ if tweaked a little bit

Our Ett can only go 160 KPh Revenue But it is able to get up to at least 240 kph during testing. It is the fastets narrow gauge train in the world.

the federal regulation is 150 mph?
and then there's France, who gets theirs to 200 mph and more. Makes our high-speed trains seem whimpy/

The limit applies to tracks that are shared with freight trains.
A dedicated passenger line (without grade crossings) would not be subject to that limit, but we don't have any of those yet.
RailRide 9 months ago
It's a shame that any high rail network in the US will be hampered by federal law which limits the max speed they can go at 150mph.

How fast was it running?
BennwoodTV3 3 years ago
With passengers they ran it up to 135 mph (217 km/hr). In test runs, they got it up to 162 mph (260 km/hr).

you are right, but the train in the video is an ICE-1 (which hasn't been old in ´93 too).

thats an ICE-1? hmm, well, i wouldnt know having only seen ICE-2s and ICE-3s.
wolf5172 4 years ago
"i wouldnt know having only seen ICE-2s and ICE-3s."
what do you mean? its a -1 for sure, that one in the Video is just as short as a -2 (the ICE-1 are normally driving with 12 middle cars).

ive never before seen an ICE-1, only ICE-3s and a couple of ICE-2s.
