  • 95% of the people in this cafe/pub???? look like they are all bloody Zombies on "heroin" ..........wouldn't want to show too much emotion. Are all Poles like this??? Is this a reflection of the type of people that have flooded into the UK since the inception of the EU???

  • NNothing wrong with the music though, just vevo

  • Im glad I use adblock as this sell out bullshit sucks

  • Dee C Lee Wow! I forgot what a crush I had on her- She is still gorgeous!

  • great song but think the uk needs to start building walls !!! if we dont we will sink??

  • Warszawa !!!

  • these days, immigrants beat up our youth when they don't show respect for their culture and believes, and even the once so humble islam is now demanding respect, instead of try to earn it, and want to take over the entire west! The 80's was the best decade ever, as in life and music, but that all changed when the berlin wall tumbled down, december 1989. Our once great europe is lost and wil never be the same again, thanks to the fucking multiculture lovers who give it all away to every deadbeat

  • when i look at what kind of mess we live in today, i wish that the berlin wall never would have tumble down back in december 1989, because it's not only the berlin wall that tumbled down, but also the safe wall around entire west europe, and the walls of our freedom!

thinking of it, songs like "what have i done to deserve this" and "if i could turn back time"

go trough my mind, when i look at the shithole that our once beautiful and free west europe has become.

  • Bro! your fro is breath taking.

  • Love it.....nuff said!

  • People will never get it right. People are by their very nature nepotistic and corrupt. No matter what system of rule you devise, capitalism, socialism, communism, communitarianism, fascism, democracy or military junta. All systems fall down because there is no system that manipulative mankind can find loopholes in.

  • @AdstarAPAD Very well said.

  • I was in my early 20's when this came out and I believed in it but things are still the same all these years later- probably worse in fact- people seem more divided than ever and the scum in power are more than corrupt than ever.

Sorry to be a pessimistic cunt but that's how I see it- great song though and it's sentiment will live on long after the rest of us are gone- maybe one day people will get it right.

  • @notmemate Just goes to show things haven't changed but actually got worse in this shithole of a country!

  • Damn.. communist Warsaw. I remembered the old times. Some gray and hopeless was my city.

Now I see how Warsaw has changed over the 26 years ...

  • CLASSIC i would love to watch them live

  • check this out Weller and the Style council did this song in I don't knoe east germany , poland when it was still communist the walls came tumbling down in berlin 1989 !!

  • yes...definatly a song i will never get sick off.....well done style council dude.....

  • I've been aware of this song since I was 15, but it's only now that it brings tears to my eyes. God (or whatever you may believe in) bless the Occupy movement.

  • 2:21. is there one video where paul isn't chewing gum? :)

  • The only things that ever change are the names. Change lies in the hands of the individual

  • Fucking tory government.... fucking government full stop... screwing over the lower classes in every way imaginable.

  • *

    interesting 'invisible' BRASS section?

    .

    .O.

  • "Governments crack and systems fall cos unity is powerful ".A great lyric as meaningful today as when it was written.30 November in the Uk is likely to see 3 million people on strike closing hospitals .schools, colleges univesities and the Inland revenue and civil service.Time to bury the bastards

  • @nickestone1 thatcher, major, bliar, cameron -you choose your leaders and place your trust then there lies wash you down and their promises rust

  • I'd just left school when this song came out. Great memories :-)

  • We are the 99%.

  • This would be a great theme for the Occupy Movement!

  • Fitz and the Tantrums wish they were this cool

  • "krajowa loteria pieniezna" hahahhahaha warszwa 1985 ;)))

  • It's almost 11September,2011..10 years since 9/11...When the Walls, not just of these buildings..but of the World..Came tumbling down...The Western World lost it's Innocence..Terrorism struck..Such a great song and it describes such an horrific time..Just suits I guess...Paul Weller....If you think of some of the songs he has written and sung,he had a really good handle on Psychology..or people. .. Very clever Man...

  • @witchyliLL23 were you watching and listening? this track came out in 1985,4 years before the fall of the berlin wall.hes singing about what he hopes to see in the short term future not prophesying about 9/11 You Dope!!!!!!!!

  • My dad had one of those cars. Polonez 1500. Great cars

  • Worst crowd ever.

  • Just found the inspiration for my next haircut. Thanks, Weller! ;p

  • @Camster1705

R u serious? It was cool in the 80's, now it wil look like u r a Bieber,,, LOL

I'ts fun, no, it's cool, I did have that look in the 80's, I think I can't have it now..

    Make it happen!

  • Watchin this cus of clip in party animals x

  • @iloveandrewlpotts Same here :D

  • The lyrics have just as much relevance now as they did back then.

  • @Skarpion I agree, tory government fucking the country up again, how familiar it feels

  • I can listen to a great song constantly and never get bored with it, most of those are from the 80s but can't say the same for newer stuff, go figure huh

  • This is music, there are very less people that wil come in this range of happyness... Love this kind of music. I've bin in the 70's and 80's,sometimes I wish I could be there again....

  • Dee C Lee was great singer and gorgeous, their daughter Leah looks exactly like her.

  • hahaha i remember the mighty wedge i had

  • @indydaisy1 me too!

  • he looks like bowie in this one!xD

  • I think WCTD was shot in Warsaw - the Moscow-style Ministry of Love is clearly visible outside the club.

  • wish i was alive when music like this was out, being 17 and the only one i know who listens to this is saddening

  • Top tune ! Nothing like authorised civil disobedience, will look forward to my new found freedoms. ☺≤☺

  • Brilliant song. Beauty , creativity and revolution . What more could you want ?

  • Shocking hair and you all know it ....magic to tragic and back again !

  • great bug at 2:23.

  • I was based in Berlin in 1985 in the British army. Hated Thatcher and loved Paul Weller.

  • And just four years later the Berlin Wall came tumbling down!

  • Them trams run better than British rail!!!!

  • I love Warsaw's Palace of Culture. It must be preserved. Good song, but Warsaw's Palace of Culture makes the video.

  • @subedeithemongol

It might look interesting if you see it every once in a while, but having this socialist "spaceship" stuck in the middle of your city is another thing :)

  • @taakijeden Sorry, I love Socialist Realism and still think it an outrageous act of cultural vandalism that Prague's statue of Stalin was blown up. Things like that should've been preserved.

  • @subedeithemongol yes, how dare they destroy a symbol of oppression in their own nation. Socialists really are the most pretentious wankers on the planet.

  • @RobbieReineldt The statue of Stalin in Prague was, of course, destroyed by the oppressors themselves. It vanished long before the Velvet Revolution. Indeed, it vanished before the Prague Spring of Dubcek.

  • Have just gone back in time.Brilliant song.

  • pure mod i love it

  • an absolute brillant song that combines protest, style and class

  • szok!przegapiłem wizytę SC w warszawie!! !hahaha!!!

  • Love how she looks like she's doing the chicken dance at the beginning

  • I would love to see any band today try and cover this song, cause it just Jams; especially at full volume.

    Footnote: Loved Paul's hair.

  • @2000everett4 That haircut was known as "The Wedge" or "The Paul Weller Wedge" on the 1980s mod scene.

  • Look at the people in communist Poland-the life has been sucked out of them.

  • before we call weller a sellout...we should write half the awaking songs this man has brought us.....

  • remember this at live aid unreal.cool joke about austrila

  • how good is this track???? effin awesome takes me back...

  • how good is this track???? effin awesome takes me back...

  • i still say it sux

  • Is Weller being a sellout as it seems the vid is now owned by vevo? It sucks that a few years ago I could watch this vid without the bull. I remember buying this when I was a teen in mid 80's. It looses its meaning if its now just some capitalists toy!!!!! Paul Weller has become Take That sell out now....

  • @sirgaryhoi When you've bought it at the time, it was made by Polydor wasn't it? PW didn't sell out. The recordings are still owned by the record company. What did you expect? Weller himself recording the music, making a handmade vinyl record then giving it away at the streets? I mean, we only got the music and the message thanks to the record company. May seem sad for some, but it's true.

  • @sirgaryhoi And I believe VEVO has an agreement of sorts with the record companies.

  • one of the best tracks weller ever did...

  • Great tune forever. wish the 80 was back

  • @SURRIE27

    me too!

  • thanks great video

  • Qué buenos!!!

  • now this is a protest song.!!

  • Bella, frizzante. Nel 1985 ero un vero fico!!!

  • A great track back then and the lyrics apply just the same today, "They take the profits You take the blame" Never a truer statement than that.

  • Ha ha. One of these Style Council videos apparently contains content from Vevo and thus it is blocked.

Oh I love the YouTube video blocking sense of humour.

  • oh lets hav a day off . great song politics or not . bloody 80s lol heaven

  • oh lets hav a day off . great song politics or not . bloody 80s lol heaven

  • who cares where it was shot. Fucking awesome song!!

  • Great fella. Sends his kids to private schools, too.

  • looks like it was filmed in eastern germany during the 80's, am i right?

  • @MadHobbit

    This is Poland

  • @PolishMark

    This is SPARTA!

Oh, yeah, it's Poland, and that rocket-like building (Palace of Culture) is still standing in the middle of Warsaw.

  • well sung Dee

  • Dee C Lee... (Onetime Mrs Weller)...

Her voice, her style and her beauty:

    Thanks

  • cracking track, sadly just as relevant in the UK today as it was 25 years ago.

  • Don't the audience look excited!

  • Style Council was one of those bands that thought creatively outside the box.

  • "We are all in this together"- David Cameron, a millionaire. "Crap!!!"- Millions of ordinary sensible decent people just getting by.

  • @stylophobia yes because of course those champagne socialists in the labour party really do care about you don't they? At least a conservative is a conservative and not pretending to be something they are not.

Just remember, they are all a bunch of no good, self serving bastards.

Ok political rant over. Thank you and goodnight. :)

  • "the competition is a colour tv" - brilliant!

This is a song about changing things....and how far behind are we!?

  • Funny thing is that "the wall" DID come tumbling down a few years later!

Amazing how topicals these lyrics are today in the USA, 25+ years later.

  • I find Paul very sexy. lmao

  • .

it begins and ends with the SELF

    .

    CHANGE

    .

    .O.

  • "unity is powerful"

  • Try BAN, MOD GIRLS, brilliant tune!

  • wow you had all the bands,,boy george, wham ,tears 4 fears, the commonards all fags

  • crap video,80s pommy music sux big time

  • @aussieasvb what u doing listening to it then...shouldnt be allowed !

  • Comment removed

  • @aussieasvb Because the best band to ever come out of Australia isn't even fully Australian i'd say about 25-30%. Australia has given the world a lot of crap. Don't be such a twat, the british have much better music than Australia and i'm Australian.

  • @GelGsound well whats the "best "band to come out of Australia? pommy music circa the 80's was totally crap ,just like your opinion and i dont give a fuck, plenty of aussie born & bred music heaps better then pommy junk

  • @aussieasvb fuck off rock breaker and yes your the poms

  • @heathlfc5times what the fuck are you waffling on about !? learn how to put a sentence together you dumb arse

  • @aussieasvb that's the funniest thing i've read on YouTube for ages ! It's a wind up right ?? :-)

  • @middyred68 no wind up here! he/she needs to learn write a sentence that makes sense!

  • Warsaw

  • Listening to this song LOUD is like being in a rollercoaster!

  • Into this video, are they in Moscow?

  • @derriev1967 They're in warsaw.

  • judging by the comments his song sums it all. Unity is power and the walls come tumbling down. Keep arguing amongst yourselves and stay divided and weak.

  • liking style council, but no where as good as the jam

  • What a song!

  • I love Paul Weller and this song but what the fuck is going on with this video weller you look like a bell end lol

  • dee c lee is an absolute cracker gorgeous and a great voice she puts lady singers nowadays to shame she helped to make paul i think as well as steve and mickys help.

  • herr weller...thats what his mates called him cause of his hair

  • Apparently Weller wrote this as an attack on Maggie Thatcher's politics, and that he wasn't thinking about the eastern block at all.

If that's true, you have to applaud him for his slightly obscure way of communicating with his audience. Singing about walls coming down, people rising up, all shot in drab communist Warsaw. Rise up against Maggie, people!

Or is it really a love song to the hope of Solidarity? I reckon the latter.

  • Good video. Interesting to see what warsaw looked like when the country was behind the iron curtain. It is a rarity to see a music video shot in communist eastern europe.

  • just great music...

  • Great song. Weller stop dancing like that man!

  • haven't heard this song for so long...and bang it just hit me i still love it isn't weird that there are songs in this world that just never loose there zing.

  • What's with Weller's hair! Great song though, Dee C Lee in fine voice and looking hot

  • @alansmart7 it was the style at that time in LONDON

  • @robertdoble but not in Warsaw i suspect. Too much like Adolf's for comfort!!

  • Why did they take this video down, vevo does not own this song. LETS SUE THEM!!

  • WOW this video was recorded IN Warsaw POLAND :))

  • :-) video shot in Warsaw :-)

  • Cracking song, but oh the irony! Did those Polish kids have any idea what the Style Council were singing about? Walls come tumbling down - like the Berlin wall maybe? Unity is powerful - or Solidarity is powerful? Five years later socialism collapsed in Eastern Europe, whilst thanks to New Labour the British left is even more fucked today than it was back then during the miners' strike.

  • Well I aint gonna get involved in a political debate on wot this song is or is'nt, all I know Paul Weller is awsome

  • despite everything this song is a Socialist song !!

  • @GazeNtheBlueHaze Knob...

  • @GelGsound USA USA!

  • @GazeNtheBlueHaze

    Go away SEPTIC!

  • @Annamandabella not the same person once again ad gillard is hopeless lol bring back the liberals :D

  • @SuperTamponBandit Hey Supe I was reading the paper a couple weeks back and read about some maniac in Perth who climbed atop some billboard either naked or in his underwear brandishing a pistol. Was this you? Were you looking for me or something? Take a pill bra and cool your horses.

  • @Annamandabella i really didnt know you could get bra's in pill form.

  • @yallnome06 I was a little confused at first until I re-read that comment I was going for the more annoying form of "BRO"! Excellent observation on your part though. I'm serious!!!!

  • Steamy....MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel!!!

  • I am still waiting for a group like this... style, style, style and music

  • brett anderson swiped that hair :DD

  • Brilliant! Proof you can spotlight social consciousness while being totally entertaining, funky and you can even dance to it! The age old dilemma....."those who have and those who have not - Those who are with and those who are without". In a nutshell, all it every boils down to. Brilliant!

  • @970162cango I have always considered the Council as Soul-cial conciousness

  • @britredneck Clever! Wish I'd thought of it!

  • Next fuck face who besmirches the name of the almighty Style Council will be the recipient of one harsh tummy ache courtesy of my fucking fist.
