Boy am I writing to much here but feel compeled to write this.
There are many other areas that need to be addressed that are true problems in the church. One area is our division and this arguement is just one example of this (and I realize these comments are in a way doing this). We need to unite like Jesus prayed for and not be divisive. No wonder the world looks at us and laughs and mocks us. We must embace our differences and be the Body of Christ to spread the good news of Jesus.
(I am running at the mouth here) This is legalism and religion. Men creating rules that are not Biblically supported. Where in the Bible does it say that worship must be in a certain style and say certain things. God is awesome and everything he created is glorious and he made us creative to and we should rejoice in that and honor God through our creative enegy and impulses. And this is what Christian rock does. The Holy Spirit moves through Christian rock muscicians also.
What I'm getting at is that people respond to different styles of worship and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact it is great. To say this style is wrong and satanic only shows your prejudices and judgementalism. Let each generation worship in the way that brings them feel closer to God. Taste change and as long as the message stays the same, the mechanism or medium doesn't matter. You are creating a set of rules that says that worship music must be this way and no other.
Do Christian rock bands get there messages wrong. Yes. Just like pastors and every other Christian out there. We are not perfect. Does this mean that a whole genre of music shouldn't be listened to...Not at all. When I listen to this music it moves me closer to God and for the most part the lyrics are right on the mark. Old hymns do not do this to me. I'm of a different generation and respond to different styles of music and worship and get this...there is nothing wrong with that.
I won't comment about all Christian rock since I haven't heard it all and I do believe that some of it is misleading and wrong just like in other ministries. Nothing is perfect and that is true of musicians old and new alike. What I wonder is if this speaker likes this style of music or not. To me he is against a style of music and is justifying this by saying it's not true Christian worship. God made us in his image and he made us creative too. There is nothing wrong with this music.

it is clear the author of the song is comparing the light of Jesus to the light of the sun at dawn, as He is refered to as the Bright and Morning Star. the night disapears as the sun comes out and the things hidden underneath are washed away by the light. not everything we say as Christians has to come straight out of the bible. i say if there is any good use for the song then His will be done.

They say, a kingdom divided will not stand, they use that to defend Christian rock. Jesus ate supper with Zacchaeus. Jesus was what Zacchaeus needed Him to be for them, which was a friend to sit down and spend time with, so why cant Christian bands use a equally valid method that was proven by our Savior to reach sinners today?

@JayEvangelist09 I am in a hardcore ministry band. I play these shows and tours. I pray with and love on these kids. God used a DONKEY to speak and he also uses ALL genres of music for his work. I see it daily. You can go through life being close minded and hating things you have no idea about because they are different to you, or you can accept the fact that God is using us both for his work in different ways. I was following you for about ten seconds. First off Disciple, who I have had the privilege to meet, are a pure to the heart Christian band and they have, at this point, helped save and make more of a difference in their ministry then whoever you are. Second, you Cannot say that you can't take verses from the bible relating to their worship then turn around and do the exact same thing trying to defile it. You said that they used "you" to refer to God. In the song they use scripture to write the song (a lot of bands do that). And in the Bible "you" and "Him" is used a lot to refer to God or the Lord. So you want the band to use "Lord" or "Jesus" or "God" to make it holy. But the Bible says in Proverbs 30:5-6 "Every word of God is flawless; HE is a shield to those who take refuge in HIM. Do not add to HIS words, or HE will rebuke you and prove you a liar." That verse proved both my points.

Christian metal makes my spirit feel beautiful and lifted. it saved me actually. every time i listen to it i feel Gods presence more than i do at church. so quite judging others just because u dont agree with them.

Haha this is pretty inaccurate. 'For Today: is a christian metal band, that mentions God, Jesus, Lord many, many times. Also they incoporate stories of the bible in their songs, they know their stuff.
You said that they used "you" to refer to God. In the song they use scripture to write the song (a lot of bands do that). And in the Bible "you" and "Him" is used a lot to refer to God or the Lord. So you want the band to use "Lord" or "Jesus" or "God" to make it holy. But the Bible says in Proverbs 30:5-6 "Every word of God is flawless; HE is a shield to those who take refuge in HIM. Do not add to HIS words, or HE will rebuke you and prove you a liar." That verse proved both my points.
The way you perceive doesn't matter, Jesus knows and that's all that matters. If he knows in your heart that you're giving glory to him, that's all that matters.

There are many other areas that need to be addressed that are true problems in the church. One area is our division and this arguement is just one example of this (and I realize these comments are in a way doing this). We need to unite like Jesus prayed for and not be divisive. No wonder the world looks at us and laughs and mocks us. We must embace our differences and be the Body of Christ to spread the good news of Jesus.

Do Christian rock bands get there messages wrong. Yes. Just like pastors and every other Christian out there. We are not perfect. Does this mean that a whole genre of music shouldn't be listened to...Not at all. When I listen to this music it moves me closer to God and for the most part the lyrics are right on the mark. Old hymns do not do this to me. I'm of a different generation and respond to different styles of music and worship and get this...there is nothing wrong with that.

I won't comment about all Christian rock since I haven't heard it all and I do believe that some of it is misleading and wrong just like in other ministries. Nothing is perfect and that is true of musicians old and new alike. What I wonder is if this speaker likes this style of music or not. To me he is against a style of music and is justifying this by saying it's not true Christian worship. God made us in his image and he made us creative too. There is nothing wrong with this music.

They say, a kingdom divided will not stand, they use that to defend Christian rock. Rock is one kingdom, you 'mature musicians' make no difference between the profane (secular rock) and the supposed holy (Christian rock) all of these bands (secular and Christian) play together. How can you open for an evil band, preaching filth, and then expect to 'preach' the Gospel right after them and expect people to come to Christ? What Christ is Christian heavy metal preaching?

You cannot say that NO ONE has EVER come to Christ through going to one of those concerts! There is no way for you to know that for sure. I see it daily. You can go through life being close minded and hating things you have no idea about because they are different to you, or you can accept the fact that God is using us both for his work in different ways. You said that they used "you" to refer to God. In the song they use scripture to write the song (a lot of bands do that). And in the Bible "you" and "Him" is used a lot to refer to God or the Lord. So you want the band to use "Lord" or "Jesus" or "God" to make it holy. But the Bible says in Proverbs 30:5-6 "Every word of God is flawless; HE is a shield to those who take refuge in HIM. Do not add to HIS words, or HE will rebuke you and prove you a liar." That verse proved both my points.

If rock is Christian, and it praises the Lord, I don't think Satan would interfere with that. He'd probably be in the rock music that's completely AGAINST God. The reason these bands don't say Jesus or God is so that they can draw in audiences who will eventually hear those names, and be curious about it. If Christian rock doesn't sit right with you maybe it's not for you, but that doesn't mean it's not right for everyone.

@5LaxGoalie Your getting discouraged, but, you need to think about what the birthplace of rock is and how it was formed. I know that God can reclaim what is rightfully his, but it this kind of music and actions that is Gods alternative way of worship? It's just a few questions to think about
It is a touchy subject, but calling people names is not going to help anyone. All he's doing, is saying what he is finding to be disruptive to him and sharing it to us. Getting to word out could save people

@fiandaca123 The way he is trying to get the word out is the way that people are scared away from churches and why there is so many non believers. This type of guy is why people think all churches want is your money. Anyone who would believe in any of this needs to really read the Bible. In it, it tells you to worship God through music, no matter what way you do it, as long as you are worshipping Jesus Christ and God, then you are fine.

@5LaxGoalie Agreed. But that does not mean he shouldnt speak of it. He is right as well. And has every right to be concerned for those who only walk on the shore but not on water via faith in the Lord and Savior!
