Maidstone council never put their hand in their pocket to fund that gig. But they loved to reap as much good publicity from them in the local papers. The maidstone river festival organisers funding it through sponsorship, believe me the budget was tiny, under £1000 for the sound and lights. But maidstone council were ok to spend 10 grand on some crap oversized flowering sheep !!
Although the Tonbridge christmas festival was funded by the Tonbridge Round Table, and they were much more generous.
