Why do they make such a big deal when a player is 24? Is there some age limit where you can't compete anymore? Seriously, someone needs to explain that to me. Just cause he's 24 doesn't mean he knows every little thing about Starcraft.
@gartner10112 i just wanna know whats wrong with these guys doing what they love to do? Personally i envy these guys. I would love to go to singapore to play a video game.
@Maaaartin23 you're offending millions of people by saying that, some people play basketball, some play starcraft, how can you judge what makes people have a life? What are your criterias?
Just because hes 24 their downing him wtf. thats still young, a keyboard doesn't require much physical intensity lol these people are crazy.Lol if he was 18 wtf kind of talk is this?
Anyone above 25 is considered too old for gaming. You'll rarely see anyone above 25 in a Pro Gaming team. Reflexes slow down at the age of 25 according to doctors.
and Boxer is 30+. SC2 is a completely different type of game. Way dumbed down. ALot easier. Even Boxer said it was ALOT easier compared to SC1. He wouldn't be able to compete with Jaedong if he went back to SC1 due to slower reflexes and Jaedong's age advantage.
Games like Starcraft Brood War and Counter-Strike 1.6...at the age of 25+ u cant compete with the best anymore.
i played brood war for 10+ years, i know the difference between the two. I agree that sc2 is easier, it requires less speed and the builds are less diverse. Still, its not easy and the fact that people in their mid to late twenties are doing well in it is still evidence supporting the claim that this "old and grizzled as they come at 24" is a pretty stupid statement. In fact, the fact that forU won this wcg is also evidence supporting my claim.
However, i am not disagreeing with you about reflexes slowing down in the mid twenties. I'm just saying that "24 being as old and grizzled as they come" is quite a stupid statement to make. Saying it like that implies fragile/slow/weak/less energy etc.. but forU was always good and there were no signs to suggest he was slowing down. I would'nt of cared if he was 18 or 50 during this WCG, I knew he was easily the favorite over androide(though id have liked a non-kor to win).
25 IS however when reflexes slightly slow down according to researchers. Slight few seconds slower but in Starcraft or CS 1.6 a few seconds make a huge difference. Which is why they're forced to retire at the age of 25. Example: Jaedong beating Boxer easily (when boxer was an old geezer).
Foruu might of had an extra year left in him but you don't see him competing with top players nowadays do u? Players get old and replaced with new ones. Example: Jaedong beating everyone.
Yeah, enough of Jaedong this and that. I never disagreed with you. Lots of korean players go to the army around when forU left btw..there are lots of reasons why most quit around 24-25. Boxer was still good when he came back and hes still playing sc2. Im just attacking that statement the commentator made.. I never disagreed that reflexes decrease and there are a smaller number of mid twenty some gamers. I think you can easily still play, but being #1 becomes increasingly hard
My point is this: 24 is NOT old for a progamer. It does mean however that your chances of being the best at a game like this or counterstrike is slightly lower. So the statement might be: "as you approach mid twenties, your chances to be the best are lower due to slightly slower reflexes". "old and grizzled as they come at 24" is just a stupid thing to say. ForU had the same if not better reflexes than anyone in this WCG. Anyway, good discussion but i think im done now :o
Hahahaha, imagine if the casters of the tournaments actually spoke like the girl in this documentary... Like "Wow, Flash has amassed a huge army of soldiers armed to their teeth with machineguns! But Stork has not been lazy, and has got a batallion of robotic plasma-missile shooters! Against this foe, surely Flash will lose the fight. But no! Flash has got an armada of aircrafts, flying shuttlemissions deep into Stork's territory, attacking his resourcefields! Will Stork's..." and so on.. Hahah!
for crying out loud.. people gotta learn that gaming is huge industry and huge world. just like computers, cars or even planes. if its a "game" doesnt mean that some aspects of it cant be serious. Thats what this documentary shows.
"Here is the Korean in his natural habitat. Look at how he uses his APM to establish his dominance over this other male competitor. The alpha male marks his territory in paranoid android, forcing the young upstart out of the area. The alpha male has maintained his status among the Koreanesses."
"Studies have shown that, typically, a person's reaction time is at its best when a person is in his or her late 20s. Reaction time improves from infancy into the late 20s, due, it's thought, to increased experience."
-Sounds like bullcrap to me, like maybe people fade from this at 20 cause they do stuff like go to college, or get jobs.
"Main reason I lost today is because I didn't take good care of my condition, I didn't sleep well"
I hate suck excuses, even if that's the reason then I won't say it, if I was him I would simply say that Anderoid played better than me, when you play in such challenges, you must have the power to stay relaxed and focused, and if you can't, then don't bother even take part, the reason 4-U won the fight is simple, it's because "He played like he's 18 again"
im not degrading other games , but when u play sc urself in iccup server (highest lvl of esports battlenet in world) ull noe sc is like an olyimpic game, that means very very HARD
