BRINGS BACK OLD MEMORIES OF EARLY LOVE IN THE DAYS WHEN YOU LEFT THE HOLDING ARM OFF THE THE MIDDLE OF THE RECORD PLAYER SO THE SINGLE PLAYED OVER AND OVER . A WARM NIGHT AND A GIRL NAMED JULIE FIRST TIME FOR BOTH OF US .MY ONLY REGRET IS THE RECORD LASTED SOOOO LONG .JULIE WHERE ARE YOU NOW AND WHERES MY WALLET
He certainly does, Laura! "Wide Eyed and Legless" is a song which is all about the perils of the 'demon drink'.
I guess that there are many people in the UK - and indeed in other countries - who can identify with the lyrics of this classic track (which, I believe, reached # 4 in the British charts in December 1975/January '76).
Incidentally, one of the records that prevented Mr Fairweather-Lowe from reaching the very top of the charts was the "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
Mr. AF. Low. Same thing again like every night the glass keeps MY HOOCH alight. I dont care what anybody thinks. I troll with you, Mr. D. Edmunds and so many of our BRIT stars EVERY NIGHT. Never had the chance before. As I troll through ALL the windows I stay up later in the night till morning. THANK you ALL for the MUSIC since I was first able to see so many of you GROW from the SIXTIES and STILL be with me. THANK YOU.
This is a seriously deep sad song about a difficult subject. Not easy at all to write a song this good but its definately for the serious music and lyric listeners..oh and yes..amazing voice too.
Mr. F.W. L, I hope that I am not out of order BUT there should be a book about how all the arrangements(great) were made. Your voice is distinctive and it should be shown how it was used by the record companies. Thank you for MY listening pleasure.
Thank you for letting me listen to you again . What a classic song. It has always been a guide to stop my excesses of the hard stuff. I am 75 years young and have not stopped but now drink only while listening to the music which you and other BRITS gave us THANK YOU. Tommo
Oh my god , 35 years ago & it seems like yesterday . I have this record & I remember I played it so much that I almost wore it out . Wonderful times & great great memories . I'm so happy that I was around then as a teenager , enjoying gems like this . You just can't beat it . Fabulous !
That's B J Cole on steel- played for Hank Wangford- Hank called him "Manley Footwear"- all the band had silly names!.BJ Is in a band called Lush Life- they've just released an album- I know this because I met the lady who runs the label- Untied Artists in December- they cover Cristo Redentor which Harvey Mandel included in his very far out 1968 tripsville album of the same name- they also do Sleepwalk. Good old B J- He doesn't hail from Pocatello but "He drag's a pretty mean bar". (Prison Band)
I went to a university " built over a bus stop" or so my politics lecturer described it.The town's skating rink was under the building and I can remember studying for my finals exams whilst this track come reverberating up from the skating rink underneath the university library I was sitting in! I used to have a scar on my hand where some drunk dragged me down on to the ice and somebody else skated over my hand! The town? A favourite haunt for the Yorkshire Ripper at the time.
Great video thanks. Went to see him in the Dilmun Club Bahrain 2 nights ago. great gig, brought back a lot of old memories, we all ended up like the song !!
This was from Mike Mansfield's TV show Supersonic from the '70s. that's Mike at the beginning "Cuing the music". there are some more great clips from his how on YouTube. Look out for Marc Bolan and Adam Ant!!!
Wow this guy's got a voice on him and never seems to be taking it too seriously even as he brings the soul. I'm just discovering him and there you are going to see him this very night. Youtube is the oddest time machine... and it hasn't come along a moment too soon to help us catch a glimpse and a sample of all this great music and names we only see on a list somewhere!
There's a little bit of McCartney here and you can hear Clapton all over. Kind of reminds me of Gerry Groom (check out his album Twice in a Blue Moon---awesome).
He does play with Clapton. I saw Clapton May 2009 at the RAH and AFL was his right hand man - not bass - that was Willie Weekes. He was AWESOME. Last time I saw him was late 60s with Amen Corner and he is better than ever
looking at this vid and the one of andy today just goes to show how quick life passes us by i'm 60 and saw amen corner at the royal tottenham in the sixties id love to know what life andy lived after the split of a great group
i saw andy at the Streatham Ice Rink in 1967 at the ripe old age of 13 (me not him) i screamed so much that i passed out and had to be carried off by my sister and my friends. I wonder if he remembers playing there.
Saw Andy on his Low Rider Tour, Absolutely brilliant,& ably supported by his band. Andy is a great guitarist & what a distinctive voice! Did a mixed set showcasing his amazing versatility. A message for his record company:- Wide Eyed & Legless should be re issued I'm sure it would be a big hit all over again! Andy stayed behind after the gig to sign autographs & chat. A great bloke & IMHO highly underated!!
