  • does it play pal games?

  • I hope this thing is bright enough when in the dark.... If not, then i certainly wasted my money...

  • Comment removed

  • Does this thing play PAL SNES games?

  • wow...shit review. Stay in your store.

  • @rossl0201 I think I will, douche. Maybe you'll want to post a better one for everybody? We'll wait. I'm sure it'll be epic.

  • @dommiesan SHIT REVIEW

  • Damn i miss my Sega Nomad....i will never forgive my brother for breaking it....i think i paid like 300 bucks for my Nomad when it was newly out...this system nice ..would of made a nice brother to my Nomad if i still had it.

  • Is that slider perhaps for changing the cart slot between american and japanese carts? There is a tab on one cart that isn't on the other. That slider might just move a piece to allow the other sort of cart to fit in.

  • 4:33 "better tight than too loose" - always sage advice

  • that slide on the back....locks the cartridge in probably.

  • this guy's fucking terrible at mario

  • YES, My two favorites SNES games: Mario and Donkey Kong!

  • "And...it...works.... That's, uh, something..."

  • @appleguy. Its totally not expensive its just 79.99. Wich is an awesome price for a classic system made portable.

  • The little switch on the back that you saw was a cartridge lock, but it does not work very well at all. I've quizzed the guys at one of my local video game stores, they told me what it was for. It's cool cause this system can also be used as an actual super NES. I like this system, but it's really expensive.

  • cool i want to have one.... people say this is a shit is a player of call of duty modern warfare and a kid!

  • you know its gonna be a bad review when the dude cant even open the box

  • @UBEDAMAN3 And yet the box was opened! Derp.

  • this bitch is like a 100 bucks on ebay suck my dick.... if anything release it with a flast snes cartridge

  • the unit itself tried to copy psp system?i mean the way they make it.

when u get the unit does it comes with any games?they should make this years ago not now..

  • I understand that sites like Amazon are selling them as of now, but are they still prototypes or are they still improving them? I would like to purchase one ASAP but I would like to know whether or not a better version is coming out.

Definitely needs a bigger screen and better battery life.

  • It sounds wrong when he says"its kinda tight in there better tight than loose i guess" XD but great video

  • I want it so bad.

  • this looks so cool i want it

  • "It's... kinda tight in there..." 4:45

"I don't know what that thing does" 7:26

Just a wild guess... but probably it loosens the cartridge or holds it in place? (Unless of course, it is purely ornamental)

  • The "gamegear" was doing this in 1991

  • hey who does your theme song? i like it.

  • i feel it ain't steady enough as you play it.

i hope they make it an near official & authentic feel to it man.

    great review!

  • i hope they released this with the Special XL chip in it as well!

  • Does it play Star Fox?

  • I NEED THIS!!!!

  • fxckin FAT!

  • better tight then too loose.

  • @ted3681

    Giggity.

  • @Eternalshadowgamer

That's cool then, i'm looking forward for this product to arrive.

  • @Eternalshadowgamer

Does it play like that through headphones?

  • I need a bit of info. What type of battery does this use, and how do I charge it?

  • @MinecraftMgalekgolo

Nevermind I watched the video and saw there was a charger -_-.

  • shouldn't this video be a "Unboxing" rather than a "Review" since it looks like you just opened it for the first time? I prefer a review where the tester has used the device for a while to get the hands on experience on how good it is before getting a grade on it. I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but just my honest opinion.

  • is this out yet?

  • i take it donkey kong did not work then fella.

  • What's the name of the music in the beginning?

  • 2.45 lol!!

  • I think it should come with starting games like SMW

  • Not playing SMW with your finger on the Y button = fail

  • @deraickripper

I was thinking the EXACT same thing.

  • where is your retro store

  • Comment removed

  • FUCKING big

  • how is the battery compared to a ds lite? BEcause that supaboy is bad ass and thinking of getting one

  • The switch on the back is a lock for the cartridge. I have never seen one of these, but I'm guessing that's what it is for

  • @therealjarett You and I think alike, jarett.. lol

  • What a shit review.

  • the switch on the back is to lock the cart in place

  • Buy a nintendo DS and a R4 card , download a snes emulator and tons of snes games ... and that's it you have a portable supernintendo ( and a ds, and can be anes too )

  • good video but next time have the box pre cut so you aint gotta piss about for 30 seconds?

  • 4:50 THATS WHAT SHE SAI...... no wait i am not a child.

Love your videos man, i might buy some stuff from your store when i get a decent amount of money on my card!

  • sooo wens it come out? how much will it be??

  • @MisLOVEttSweeneyTodd I believe it will come out November 15th and it's going to cost $80

  • the screen looks great

  • Did you test Yoshi's Island and Super Mario RPG on it? Those games have had problems on other clone systems.

  • @dommiesan will this or is it out in pal regions. I watched a bid were they said they are trying. And on the website it said it would be released in the UK. Ease respond.

  • i prefer xperia play

  • Did the fc 16 mobile come out after this?

  • wow I guess that supaboy works on a snes game cartridges, will it work on earthbound?

  • i bet you that slider locks the game in

  • worst reset button position EVER

  • Interestingly enough, I walked into a local Hyperkin vendor's shop the other day and walked out with their prototype SupaBoy. Yours is #57 & I have #58. I wonder if they were supposed to sell it. Overall I'm impressed with the console, but have a few issues. The biggest of which it that it only works on AC power. Since the rechargeable battery provided is a model used for older Nokia phones, I may not be able to economically find a replacement to see if it is a battery or console issue.

  • @ScienceisBeautiful That's strage that they sold it, they weren't supposed to. Cool that you got the very next one though. My battery works pretty good, so there might be something wrong with your console or battery.

  • @dommiesan *strange, not strage

  • @dommiesan Can you review an rpg for the famicom that never came to the U.S called "Mother".

There are english prototypes out there for the NES.

  • @dommiesan Can you review an rpg for the famicom that never came to the U.S called "Mother".

There are English prototypes out there for the NES.

  • @dommiesan What is the model # of your battery? The AC adapter is a 5V, but the battery is a BP-4L for a Nokia cell phone rated at 3.7V.

  • always cut away from your hand

  • This thing owns the FC 16 Go. I will surely buy one from you.

  • @BrianDavis132613 I guess no one will be using their proprietary cartridge lock on the back unless it starts to loosen up. I wonder if PAL/JAP Cartridges are less tight.

  • @RJMMac I tried out some Super Fami carts - no issues there.

  • What more could I ask for? If it can play European and Japanese games... I've asked around, but nobody can tell me that.

  • I wish you played Street Fighter 2, so I can see how well the D-pad works.

  • Holy s**t! That thing is huge. But I am thinking about getting one. Hopefully you'll save me one whenever you get them in stock.

  • And star wipe...... and out

  • Dommie, how vivid is the output to the screen? I own a Yobo FC-16 GO which is another bulky portable SNES. It outputs a slightly blurry/fuzzy image to the screen because it feeds composite video to the screen, not the superior RGB. My one major hope for the Supaboy is that it's screen is being feed crystal clear RGB and not blurry composite. How clear is the LCD to your eye? Please test it out using a game with a lot of text, such as Final Fantasy. PLEASE let me know! Thank you!

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 I've been playing Zelda: A Link to the Past tonight for a bit, which has a lot of text - it looks great. I dunno if it's a composite feed or RHGB, but if I had to guess I'd say RGB. Very crisp video.

  • @dommiesan Zelda might not be a great example. The ones that most evidently show the composite video on the FC-16 GO I'd say would be Final Fantasy II and Megaman 7. FFII uses relatively small white text against a blue backdrop that is nearly impossible to read on a small screen if the feed is composite video. Megaman 7 uses massive sprites against brightly colored stages, also illuminating any composite video flaws present. Please test these games out if possible. FF2 is common at least.

  • @dommiesan I wish Hyperkin would make an accessory for the SEGA Genesis that lets U play both Master system & Game Gear games. certain games such as: Power Rangers and a few others were never made for the master system. I sent em an email about that but never got a response :( If either them or yobo made it would then buy a Genesis because there are a few games that are not on the wii virtual console that I would like to play. I have several SNES rpgs that have yet to see a VC release

  • @SEAnimeForever If you want to play Master System games on the Genesis, just get a Power Base Converter for cheap off of Amazon or eBay. It's an accessory by SEGA themselves that allows you to do just that, but it won't work on most licensed SEGA clones.

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 It is a Composite Cable so you won't get an RGB picture as the signal is being mixed and sent down one cable. I did look at the Yobo FC-16 GO motherboard and it does contain what looks like a Sony RGB Encoder chip so it should be possible to get RGB out that with some soldering.

I suspect the Supaboy is based on similar hardware and might have the same RGB Encoder so it may be possible to modify it too.

@ dommiesan Any chance of a look at the internals? main motherboard etc.

  • @RJMMac I'm not talking about video output to an external TV which would obviously be composite, but the video to the INTERNAL screen on the handheld. The ribbon cables on the handheld just need to be connected to the RGB encoder and bam, you get the best portable SNES ever. If not then that's a severe blow to the SupaBoy. Dommie, please test out FF2 and MM7 when you get a chance! Knowing the quality of the video feed is very very important.

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 Still need a disassembly to confirm and see what type of connection is going into the internal lcd screen. From what I've seen composite is still a common method to connect internal displays unfortunately. To make things even worse usually they can't handle PAL and will display in black and white.

These clones tend to be made for the American market and it is generally Composite all the way.

  • @RJMMac You're probably right, but I'm still hoping against hope that Dommie will test out FF2 and MM7 and tell me that the image is crystal clear and not blurry/fuzzy in stills, and doesn't have an issue with motion blur.

  • @RJMMac I'll be posting a follow up video soon on this unit to try and answer all the questions people have. I'll be sure to take it apart and show the guts of it too.

  • not bad but i would change a few things like the power switch in a easier to reach place and the controllers on the side or bottom and louder speakers. i cna see stuff getting in those controller ports easy.

  • Is this thing heavy?

  • @xxxvsxxx not really. it's bulky as hell though.

  • YOURE ALIVE?

  • Dommie, glad your business is doing well, But, I did miss your videos, man, and I'm thrilled to see you back!

  • I would be interest to see how it handles games with special chips like Yoshis Island, Stunt Racer FX, Pilotwings etc.

  • @MaximumRD I think I may do a follow up video, since so many people are asking this question. I'll cover Super Famicom compatibility as well.

  • @dommiesan Sweet, these are some of the things that have tripped up past clones so I am sure people would be interested? Perhaps that mystery switch you cannot figure out switches between SNES/Famicom? Just a thought, or maybe it is to lock the cart in place. While you are at it I do not suppose you habe a SuperEverdrive or other Flashcart type device? how about a SNES Game Genie?

  • @MaximumRD I don't have any flashcarts. I'm currently out of stock of SNES Game Geenies, but I do get them in from time to time. I do have a Genesis Game Geenie in right now though, which is kinda rare and hard to come by.

  • I have sworn off clones, prefer even emulators on Caanoo or Dingoo handhelds but damn that looks cool as much as I hate to admit it.

  • Its kinda like a SNES controller had sex with a game gear! Good to see your back!

  • @gabbogabbo LOL, they should put that quote on the package!

  • hey do u have anything to do with cgr or classic game room???

  • @reptilecole97 My company is CGR, but not the same CGR as Classic Game Room. We just have the same initials.

  • I remember playing super nintendo in your basement when we were kids. Are they the same games? It's your cus by the way. Lol

  • @Pxtat323 LOL, nice. No, these are from the store's inventory. Which cousin?

  • Well...it's better than a PSP.

  • where were you!

  • That thing looks REALLY cool

  • Great video dude! This thing looks pretty cool, albeit a bit clunky. How much are they retailing for once they get out?

FYI - I'm the guy that ended up buying that boxed Famicom from you on GameGavel. Small world, huh? :D

  • @snowcon3 Right on. Hope the Fami is working out nicely for you. The MSRP is $79.

  • Wow, your vids haven't appeared on my subs list for ages, bloody youtube :o( Ohh, you have not made them for a while, that will be why :o(

    Did you just swear :o(

What is it with people lately saying 'super' with everything, bloody annoying :o(

I actually think I prefer the mobilefc to this one, looks better built :o)

You need to get back into the flow of making vids, this is not upto your usual standard :o(

    Thanks for the review :o)

  • Glad to see a new vid but I do understand that your business comes first. I hope it is going very well for you :)

  • Busy. RIIIIIIIGHT!

  • Its Fu... Big :D

  • HELL YEAH! Another Video!

  • but does it play super gameboy and Mario RPG and Mario kart, along with japanese games including star ocean ^.^ please say it does

  • @DigitalxxxFr34k It should play Super Gameboy, not sure about Mario RPG as I don't have one to test it with, and I just got done playing Mario Kart - it plays perfectly. I see no reason why it wouldn't play Super Fami games, since it doesn't have the cart lockouts the SNES does and both systems are the same internally. I will test that tomorrow at the office.

  • @dommiesan thanks man appreciate it, i can confirm, well not totally Patnespunk from retrowareTV, interviewed a guy from hyperkin and he said it does support the super FX chip and will play mario RPG

  • @dommiesan thanks man appreciate it, i can confirm, well not totally Patnespunk from retrowareTV, interviewed a guy from hyperkin and he said it does support the super FX chip and will play mario RPG

  • hire me, I need a job

  • I've been using the FC 16 GO. Wonderful little machine, aside from some stiff controls. But, it does lack the flair of this prototype.

  • Nice to see your still alive and great to know you have been busy and need to hire more help so i guess that means the store is doing great and i hope it only gets better. I have been waiting a long time to see that unit come out hope we don't have to wait to much longer but it could use a volume boost and also do you know if it will run SFX games.

  • 4:49 Thats what she sai-- *shot

  • You need to hire help at your store? Where is it located?

  • @Kilroy369Productions Suburban Philadelphia area. Warehouse job and game testing. Not that anybody here would like a job testing old video games, right? :P

  • @dommiesan Anywhere near eagleville?

  • @Kilroy369Productions About an hour - to an hour and a half. We're located in Doylestown.

  • awesome!!!!

  • awesome its like the nomad for the genesis

  • How's the battery life?? I think that slider switch on the back may be a cartridge lock mechanism.. Great to see your vids again.. Cheers :)

  • @AfroedNinja I think you're right about that slider thing. I have no idea what the battery life is like, but I'll test it out.

  • @AfroedNinja Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the slider. Have you been able to figure out how the video and audio quality compares to playing on an actual Super Nintendo? The trouble with third party system clones is that they never seen to be as good as the real thing.

  • @TheVideoGameJunkie99 I was paying close attention to this while playing with it - the video seems spot-on, and the audio sounds the same too. I've noticed on their other clones like the Retron3 the sound for the NES is off. Not the case that I can tell here.

  • I think I'll stick to emulation. No need to dig out cartridges. Not only that, the OpenPandora (I will be getting mine soon) can emulate SNES and NES perfectly fine, and it's much more portable than this hulking piece of plastic (a little larger than a DS).

Another thing of note: Tomee SNES controllers (also made by Hyperkin) have a strange tendency to stop working suddenly after a year or so. Might be something to keep in mind before buying one of these.

  • @onpon4 I think it appeals more as a novelty. But since you can plug it into a TV and hook up controllers, it functions as a stand-alone SNES clone as well.

  • Seems a bit clunky on size for it being a prototype, I still think the Caanoo aces this system but I do give it an A for effort and having those controller ports.

  • whens this out???would you ship to uk???

  • @bravotwozero007 Yes, I ship to the UK. Hyperkin is still unsure of the release date. I think they want to make sure any bugs are ironed out.

  • @dommiesan cool ill keep an eye out for this, looks a good piece of kit, cheers for quick reply

  • lol nice. How's business doing at the new store?

  • @spamllpitdept business is good. getting geared up for the fall busy season.

  • I think you should have tested some of the Super FX chip games, like Star Fox. They don't work with some systems.

  • @phillippi2 I didn't even think of that, but I just tested Star Fox - works perfectly.

  • MAN WE NEED MORE CGR! hey what do you think the price range will be on this beast?

  • @dwaynedarko MSRP is $79.

  • MAN WERE U BEEN WE NEED MORE CGR!

  • first

  • @kuroibuta now youre life is complete
