what people don't seem to know is that the people wearing the sword on their backs would move the sword around to their front side so it wasn't even on their backs before drawing it.
meaning: NOBODY EVER DRAWS A SWORD FROM THEIR BACKS. EVER!!!
i love the part where you demonstrate that if you can speed up time, you can draw them in a speed that wont have you eating sword halfway through the motion
Despite calling his swords katanas in nearly every incarnation of Ninja Turtles Leonardo's swords were almost always ninjatos (a fictional ninja sword that only really exists in Hollywood films). Real katanas were curved whereas Leonardo's swords were straight bladed. Also, his swords had a square handguard like ninjatos when real katanas had a more oval-shaped handguard.
samurai only wore nodachi or odachi on their backs because they were too long to wear normally on the hip on horsebag when they dismounted they would put the swords on thier hips
Meng you guys are such a bunch of "lindybeige" bitches. Shit at least give this guy AndrewNDB prob to actually accomplish such a thing.
Beside the lindybeige guy is a fucking IGNORANT! how the fuk are you going to rant about a technique that had been use in the past? he so ignorant that he thought putting your sword in the back was a stereotype made by Hollywood. Maybe if you have commonsense, you realize that warrior all over the world in middle ages wear swords like that!
Thats why ninjas always went in teams of 2 to help each other out, and if one of them died during the mission the other one couldn't put his sword back so he would just commit Seppuku
@neveSykcuL ._. I thought samurais committed seppuku...the point of being a ninja was so that you could be a samurai but without following the code of the bushido ._. SO WHAT YOU WANTED TO SAY WAS THE SAMURAIS WENT TO KILL PEOPLE IN PAIRS :D holding hands and being pansies about it of course...I could imagine it..skipping through flowery meadows, being awkward with their sword drawing....
Not only does that look terrible awkward, but those are shorter than normal katanas. Also shorter than "ninjatos" which are not historically accurate anyways, but that is what you see ninjas in the movies using.
Maybe not the best example. I literally tied a belt around my midsection to execute this. What you'll find, though, is the lower you carry the katanas down the back, the easier it is to withdraw them.
I think you'd find with wakizashis, though, there'd be no problem drawing them from almost any angle.

That is what I'd call an incredibly stupid maneuver if you have an enemy infront of you, might as well just bend over and offer him your head ;)

I thought Leonardo carried his swords in an "X" on his back.

Thanks for demonstrating this for Tristan since I don't have the necessary equipment.
