Arnel IS NO LEAD VOCALIST. He does forever solve the Neil Schon issue of the front man being the band identity. In 1984 he took most of the band and produced his own project: Bad English with lead man John Waite.This was supposed to be the "new" Journey.Instead, it was immediately labeled "John Waites Band".After the contractual obligations were fulfilled, Schon wanted no part and returned with Perry for Raised on Radio.Afterward Perry was bought out.Same thing happened to Augeri.Journey is DOA.

My two cents... Of course Steve Perry is the voice as he made the Journey sound. But Augeri pulls it off good and, having seen both Perry live and Augeri ion Virginia Beach years ago, Augeri put on a good show. Haven't seen Arnel live so cannot comment on that, but truly, trying to just keep finding a sound alike almost reduces them to tribute band status.

Steve Augeri was like lightning striking one band twice, replacing one of the greatest voices in melodic rock, with a perfect blend of familiarity and yet unique tone. This was still Journey, and the "Arrival" album was brilliant. 8 years later, he's fired while on tour. Three impersonators later, Journey feels more like a tribute band to themselves. I'm sure a lot of guys can sound like Steve Perry, but if the band loves his voice so much, just call Steve Perry and spare us the talent show.
