my horse is a paint looks like your drawing and he has a very short back just big enough for a saddle it is only 23" from wihers to hips it is wonderful the way it is great job

I belive the proper title would be "shading in a horse". your title is missleading, regardless of what the description says. As to your horse, the ears are far too tiny, the front legs too thick, long and veiny, the back legs are too short and stout in comparison. no, the back is proportional to the neck and head, the legs make the back look too short. I'll admit your talented at shading, but that appears to be as far as it goes. I've got to make a tutorial on horses myself...

@SuperNaturalist91 I was only stating my frustration at the missleading title and pointing out the wrong proportions for her in the future. I was amazed at one of her more recent videos of a photoshop horse (I'm very picky, so amazing me isn't easy.) It was clear that she spent a lot of time on it. But, she did show a reference photo that looked exactly the same. So let me state again that she is very talented at shading. BUT her knowledge of horse proportions is still questionable.

@Horseruler7a Please read the description before commenting. I clearly stated that I had already drawn the outline before I decided to film this. It was simply spur of the moment, I thought it would interest people to see how I shaded (though this video is pretty old now, and I've adapted and progressed my style further since this).
@Horseruler7a I assure you that I drew this. I've spent many many years drawing, and I've never been one to take anothers work and simply shade it. Everything I do I've spent time drawing myself. If I'm being completely honest, I don't even like this drawing really, since I can see a lot of things wrong with it. But having someone speculate whether I drew something or not is a bit of an insult when I put a lot of dedication into my art.

I can never get over how beautiful this is. I use ArtistLoft pencils with different kinds of darknesses (HB, 68, 2B, etc.) and I can never get it to look like this. Maybe I should use your technic and build up on the layers for the shading. My outlines are perfect, the shading = DX
You can see that the Artist is very talented, and doing the Art, the way they see and express it. I enjoy to see how the Artist doing and creating it. Very-Creative!

You are really good at drawing, but to become even better, you need to understand the anatomy of the animal you are drawing. The body of a horse is longer than what you have illustrated. I am not criticizing you in any way, by the way. Still, it's a great piece of work.

:) It's alright, things take time to learn. Just keep drawing and practising and you'll develop your shading fairly quickly :D

Keep layering your shading. Start with light shading, and then as areas get darker use firmer shading to create darker tones.

@HurleyBabieexx yeah me neither. I find the drawing part easy, but then when i go to shade, I can't figure out where to put shadow and where to put light. :(
