This is a lovely retrospective upon the origins of Our Lady in Green. Folks, get out there and be wearing the green on this year's festival, which in this year for the Pagans, the Xians, and the Judaics is all about the same time. Men, dress as you would push a plough; ladies, dress all in green and let your hats be fantastic as so to beguile any who see them to worship with you as is proper in this season of fertility and blessing.
As a Deaf Pagan, I would like to thank you for creating a video that is not only educational and beautifully made, but also accessible for those of us who are deaf or hard of hearing. I would like to know if I could put this up on my blog - Deaf Pagan Crossroads (google it) - to share with others for the upcoming Sabbat? I'm sure my readers, both Deaf and Pagan, would enjoy it as much as I did. Bright Blessings!
They have a number of 'paganish' holidays. Feb-March was the Lunar festival, then April Noblegarden (Ostara), the midsummer fire festival, and even a harvest feast for maybon, and Hallow's End including a wickerman festival, and one can't forget Feast of Winter Veil for Yule :)
This was a great video. However, I had a hard time reading the text because it disappeared too fast for me to finish reading what was on the screen. :(
Thank you for your video, my nine year old dughter has expressed intrest in celebrating with me this year. I have added it to a playlist for her to watch so she knows why we are celebrating. Thanks agian. :) )O(
Easter = a celebration of a pagan goddess, not the celebration of Jesus dying on the cross and his ressurection, which a lot of Christians have been tricked into thinking that Easter has anything to do with Christ. It's a way that the pagans have fooled us into celebrating a time that they are worshipping their goddess and fertility. Christians should not participate in Easter egg hunts, giving of baskets, etc!
Pagans didn't 'trick' anyone. They had their religion for long time, why would they convince Christians about anything?? They didn't care about them. It was the Christians who were invading and forcibly converting in concurred countries and if some belief or custom was too deep rooted in peoples culture they would incorporated it in they own religion. That way it was easier to force people to become Cristian if it resonated with something they believed in for generations.
And if you cross-referenced a little you would see that most dates that are some Christian holiday were at some point a holiday in pagan religions.
I'm not saying that's in not valid religion, not at all but these are just the facts and it's not like it happened for the first time. One religion taking elements from the other, that is. Romans did the same with Greek religion (although more obviously :)
That's exactly what I am saying. I have cross-referenced dates and it is a shame that Christians who do not know any better are celebrating pagan god holy days masked as Christian holidays. A huge example would be Christmas. It is not Jesus's birthday, but Tammuz's birthday. Jesus was born during Jewish tax time - approx. September. Tammuz is Nimrod & Ishtar's son who Christians are tricked into worshipping, complete with the yule log... Odin rode around on an 8-legged reindeer. Hmmm...
Well if you want 'original' religion who doesn't have any links or commonalities with earlier religions of that region you're out of luck beacuse you shoud go as far as before stone age. I'm just trying to say to you that Cristianty is nothing special when it comes to taking part of other religions in itself. Muslims take from Christianity - Christianty takes from Paganisam, Paganisam - takes from Animisam, Animisam takes from reverence of natural world?
Also Jung discovered there are some symbols in subconsciousness of all humans (a.k.a.archeotypes) no matter what their upbringing or country that IMO may have affect on religios sybomolism too.e.g.-black dog -death, strong hero who defients monsters and saves us, snakes as symbols of life and death (or life circle), cross or foursided deities etc.
Of couse you can't accept this arguments if you don't belive that systems of religions are human made not coming from 'above'.
I personaly belive that there are some forces and it's up to us to find metaphor and/or form that suits us most to connect with these forces around and in us but that's just me:)
Nothing here claimed Eostre as Wiccan. However Ostara is most certainly celebrated by the Wiccans. Please reread the captions as you will see I use the term "many beliefs" in reference to her. During that part I also incerted Nordic art... funny how you didnt notice! : )
Funny how I did notice and as I said Eostre is Anglo-Saxon NOT Norse even though they ARE both Germanic. Freyja is the goddess of fertility in Norse mythology. There is no Anglo-Saxon representation of Eostre in A-S art.

Most Wiccans I know claim all the goddesses in one way or another. Certainly specific traditions claim cCeltic/Greek/Egyptian ect., but a lot of wiccans are eclectic with the names of the divinities that they follow.
@beowulfsword08 There are no "Wiccan Goddesses." Wicca uses deities from many different pantheons, such as Greek, Egyptian, Anglo-Saxon, etc. Wicca uses many different Pagan pantheons. There is no such thing as a "Wiccan" pantheon. Eostre or Ostara is as Wiccan as any goddess could be. They celebrate Ostara as the festival dedicated to her (the spring equinox). A Wiican goddess? Can you name any "Wiccan" deities? There is no such thing.
@taliesin939939 first bit of what was said is a quote from another person.......read the second paragraph........ which says that Eostara is an Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring!
@beowulfsword08 My bad. LOL. I was thinking that might be the case, but i couldnt find where the comment originated. lol. but seriously, there is a lot of misinformation. especially on youtube. you have someone that never even READ a wicca book doing the teaching role on camara. lol. anyways, thanks for clarifying and blessed be!
@beowulfsword08 A Wiccan goddess? there is no such a thing. Wiccans use different pantheons of deities, but there is no Wiccan pantheon. that is absurd.

The eggs, the births, the bunnies...

This is possibly one of the most beautifully profoundly artistic depictions of Ostara I've seen in a very long time.
Symbolically rich, beautifully creative.
Much, appreciated, thank-you.
Warm Blessings to all.

Eostre is not a wiccan goddess she is an anglo-saxon goddess. Funny how you don't mention that isn't it?
