  • lol over patriotism.

  • 2002 sucked.

  • wow! and now its 10 years later in 2012! those poor 9/11 familes.

  • I vaguely remember this. I was 10 years old then. Time sure flies....

  • Happy New Year 2013!

  • @grabyourgat 2012 will go by really fast. You wait and see.

  • @azar783402bn I think that guy meant 2012...

  • Hard to believe it's been a decade since this! I think 2012 will be an eventful year just like 2011 was.

  • I imagine that would've been the best NYE for some people. A chance to forget all of the 9/11 attacks and celebrate the end of such a bad year for the Americans.

  • @sengelle I thought it was "NEVER FORGET 9/11/01".. NEVER FORGET doesn't exclude 1/1/02.

  • @NWRGeek Usually, people would be so happy to say goodbye to a bad year and 9/11 made it so for lots and lots of people. Of course they shouldn't forget the people who died, but I'm sure they'd like to forget about all of the attacks and cries and all of the negatives associated with it, which is probably every bit of 9/11.

  • It is now New Years Eve in 2011. 2012 New Year is coming up!!!

  • happy 2012 all!! The last year of 2011 was a good one..lets hope for a good new year!

  • It's been nearly 10 years since this one. Happy 2012 in 5 days, everyone!

  • 2012 begins my College year. January 3rd 2012!

  • 2001 was the worst year i ever had

  • @jordantheguy12 feel you're pain. wasn't all that good for me either =/

  • My worst years: 2001 2004 2005 2008 My best years: 2002 2003 2006 2007 2009 2010
  • @TheOldschoolflip why man?

  • @angel11811 oh some stuff... I view 2009 as the year that changed me

  • Dick said " best year ever" ha !, 2002 sucked ! it was the year i ended up in a mental ward.

  • This explained why the whole building was lit with fireworks in 2003.

  • disney world!!! happy new year

  • LOL happiest year ever.

    Stock market crashed...

  • 2001-2002? That was the first new years that would never be the same AGAIN! Espessally for New York.

  • I never really studied about september 11th until 3rd grade, (2005-06)

  • i hate how some of these 2001 new year videos have September 11 2001 video suggestions on the side,...have a little joy??!!!

  • 2009 was my worst year ever

  • They were so disheartened by 2001, yet had enough hope to cheer in the new year.

  • @buccieri u forgot 2002-2003

  • 2002!!!

  • 2000s is the worst decade of all time..

  • @713drking

No, the 1910s and 1940s were.

  • Comment removed

  • The year that J.Lo dominated the charts! AYYEEE!

  • Times Sq. felt very different when it turned 2002, no fireworks in Times Sq this time. Respectful. You still had the (still) smoking rubble of WTC a few miles down Broadway

  • Wow, Dick actually used to talk good. So sad he had a stroke.

  • @CottonBelter I love Dick. He is a great narrator. shame for what happened to him!

  • @CottonBelter That is a tacky comment as well as incorrect! It would be he used to talk "well" not "good"!

  • @macrent2 Ha ha, thank you. I have improved my grammar and spelling since the time I posted my comment.

  • @CottonBelter Yeah, but he's still sharp as a tack. Last night he hit the countdown perfectly. He was still slurring his speech, but he looks the same as he always did and his mind is in tip top shape. God bless him.

  • @CottonBelter it's talk well

  • How can they be so happy..? I would of been like: ;l...

  • @x0xxbittersweetxx0x

Mainly, people were excited for a frenh new start in the year 2002 after such a sad year.

  • My favorite year was in 2001,not because of 9/11 but because a lot of my childoohd hapened then.

  • happy dew year!

  • 2001 is a year im sure America we're glad to dispose of. Such a terrible year for that country :(

  • 2002: The year that brought hope to the U.S. God Bless America

  • im 13, the 2 best years of my life were 2002 and 2007

  • yay, we made a revolution around the sun! :D

  • yea i remember being at a party in an apartment in Hells Kitchen near Times Square and u can look out and see where the Twin Towers used to stand and when the ball dropped we all just started crying because we lost a lot of people that wasnt there to see this new year and thinking about kids who lost their parents and loved ones i remember a friend wisper to me "WE MADE IT" cuz it could have easily been US in that tower had they attcked 1 more hour later

  • id like to know who the hell has to clean up all that confetti!

  • Imagine an alternate 2002....

One where 9/11 had never happened....

One where Al Gore had won the 2000 presidential election....

  • @degree7 I would always love to imagine a world if 9/11 never existed. And the twin towers still stood.

  • I love how Dick said Mickey Mouse Watch.

  • I remember watching Times Square Drop 2002 while I was living in Japan, i was eating lunch when the ball dropped and my mom was sad because we had to see our nation get attacked on 2001.9.11 when we are so 60,000 miles away:( RIP World Trade Center... but the good thing in 2002 is when I came back to America..

  • worst year after 9/11 we all fucked up. we got fat we lost jobs. the years get worst everybody but we all should live life no matter how harsh it is!

  • Dick probably would've never suffered that horrible stroke back in 04 if he had managed his diabetes properly!

  • the attack has happened about four months before this, i had a feeling that something was gonna happen in 2001 , some kind of terrorist attack, i just wasent sure when or where.

  • the mayor...that was Rudy Guliani

  • Class of 02 right here. Can't believe its been eight years already. I still remember sitting in class watching the attacks on TV. We've come a long way, wars not withstanding.

  • All classes of '02 STAND UP!!!! 2002 the year I graduated, I just wish the twin towers were aroung in 02

  • This must have been the most somber NYE countdown in Times Square.

  • Wow new york went through it, just after 2 months after the worlds fucking most worst attacks,

  • Give New Yorkers credit. They are tough SOBs and still celebrate the promise and hope of a new year. They'd find a way to drop the ball from the Statue of Liberty if it was the only thing they had left to drop it from.

  • well fuck whatever country you live in mr "fuck usa" ass hole dip shit

  • @ordinaryman1982 why u hat usa?

  • @ordinaryman1982 Fuck you.

  • Michael will make that magic moment happen later 2night on ABC!

  • 2002 . . . I remember this New Years eve vividly. We went to the "holidome" hotel. They have a special new years eve package and a big carnival type thing. They have several of these hotels across the country. I remember people dropped balloons over the balconies and we did party poppers. Some parts 02 were good and others were bad. I was almost 13 and a major geek going into 8th grade. Also this new years was sad because of the 9-11 tragedies and also my great uncle had just died.

  • It's gonna be a happy 38th anniversary to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve this Thursday!

  • Are they gonna drag out poor old Dick Clark for the Times square deal this year? They should leave the poor guy alone. He's very sick.

  • He's the reason it's called Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve! Don't judge him by the way he's feeling now.. He'll count us down to 2010 on Thursday!

  • 7 more days until 2010!!! It's now the last week of 2009 and the 2000s! I wanna wish all of you on YouTube a happy 2010 and a happy new decade! =D

  • 6 till the drop.. 7 till 2010! HAPPY NEW YEAR/DECADE!

  • @gamerboy49 Happy near 2012 Lol

  • New Year's Rockin Eve 2010 means that it's gonna be the 105th year that ball has been dropped!

  • I turned 21 in 2002. Yes!!

  • Can anybody please tell me what is the name of this new year song??

  • Wow, Dick Clark Is So Awesome.

  • and that vioce of his!!

  • Yep! and he still is!

  • to tell you the truth the 2001 was the worst year for every american. This also marks the new beggining in our lifes as americans and it is a beggining to forgetting the sadness and look ahead. This video does bring some tears, because it is just sad to see this and remember it.

  • I have two things I can say that made 2001 a horrible year ever:

    1. 9/11/2001/

    2. George Harrison (member of The Beatles) dies!

    :(

  • I agree and New Years is my birthday I cried when he said that :( But i was living in japan during 9/11 and it hard to see OUR country get attacked by terrorist!

  • Hey, MSTS1, can you post a New Year's Eve Times Square 1985-1986 please?

  • Sorry, I can't- I don't have any others..

  • 2001 was one of the worst years ever in the United States.

  • 2002 wasn't any better.

  • what do you mean it wasn't a good year? were there also bad events happened in

    '02?

  • Well, they still had to clean up the mess left from 9/11, some forests had wild fires, and it personally wasn't really pleasant for me because a lot of my family's pets died.

  • and i'll tell you this. 2009 is not really a good year for me at all.

  • I think I know why.

  • why

  • Because Michael Jackson died and I seem to think you miss him.

  • Well, I don't really miss him it's just I was shocked when I heard that he passed away.

  • There's another event that I didn't liked in 2009. but it's a secret.

  • Farah dying? Barack Obama becoming president?

  • No! No! No! It's not that! It's a sad event for me and I can't tell ANY of you!

  • Well at any rate. hope 2010 is better for you!!

  • Yeah, it will be a new year, a new start and a new decade!

  • Comment removed

  • 2009 sucks ass

  • I have to agree. 2009 is not a good year for me because my great grandparents died. :(

  • I'm sorry to hear that, gamerboy.

  • Yeah, the worst thing is now that my great-grandparents are dead now, the house they lived in is going to be sold. I used to go to my great-grandparents house all the time and now, its time to say goodbye to that house. (cries)

  • well not all the time, like I visit the house every year.

  • i feel the same way dude my grandma has altimerze (sorry if spelled wrong) and he emptied out here house because she cant live there because of her disease and her house is to be solded, i had a lot of great memories there and i dont want it to be sold

  • @gamerboy49

Same thing happened to me. I feel your pain.

  • how old were your grandparents when they died?

    -1986Sheri

  • Both of my great-grandparents died at 88.

My great-grandpa died 11 days before turning 89.

My great-grandma died 5 months after her 88th birthday.

  • how did your grandparents die?

    -1986Sheri

  • Well, my great-grandpa probably died of a stroke. The day before he died, it was said that he had a high fever.

My great-grandma died three weeks after my great-grandpa died because she couldn't live without him so she died and probably she also has natural causes.

  • you crazy 2002 was one of the best years

  • Well, for some people.

  • 2002 sucked ass for me...

  • @bluecongo I bet this was a devasting drop for the ball that year__ w/ 9/11 happening just a few months before

  • @bluecongo

YES because 9/11 happened and everyone in the US lost a family member or loved one.. -_-

  • @itsGerbilsworld Nuh uh.

    Not EVERYONE.

    xD

    Anyways,

    that was my brother. :D..

    IM A GIRL NOW.

    LOL *runs away..?*

  • @bluecongo 9/11..... i feel you...

  • @bluecongo

No it wasn't, the only thing bad about 2001 was the 9/11 attacks.

  • Make That Lots Of Tears.

  • A heartbreaking year comes to an end. Few tears shared watching this.

  • <3<3<3 Dick Clark. Thanks for sharing.

  • Poor dick Clark, hope he stays strong

  • If you ask me, that's exactly what he's been doing! I mean, if he wasn't, he wouldn't continue to do New Years Rockin Eve after his stroke!

    God Bless you, Dick Clark!

and in all honesty, I don't know why people are saying they can no longer remember him as "America's Oldest Teenager."

As far as I know, no teenager has had a stroke. but, Dick's still going strong after his!

In short, we can remember Dick anyway we wish, even if he's not exactly the same! He's still Dick Clark!

  • I think that the reason Dick Clark chose to host the show indoors is probably b/c he can't stand cold weather when he's getting up in age.

Some people whether they're young or old can't stand cold weather and I don't blame them and I can't say as I blame Mr. Clark.

  • Can you also upload a New Year's Eve Times Square video 2002-2003 please?

  • See my reply comment to 'VaultMasterDBT'.

Don't know of any after '02 as of now..

  • Probably not, but I'll keep it in mind to look for it..

  • Do you Have Regis filling in for Dick?

  • I don't..

  • If you, or anyone, knows where I can find ALL 27 HOURS of ABC2000, please let me know.

  • Not me..

  • This is awesome. Dick Clark is New Year's Eve.

  • Finally, something you and I have on tape from the same night!
