I love how Marty nails this solo fuckin spot on every time i see him play it at close to warp speed. All the Broderick comparisons are like half as slow, and no where near as good.
@371jon Marty makes small, "human" errors which make eveything more intense, cus this guy is focusing on how the music hits you - not just how it fits together. Broderick is a note machine.
@checklefthook A lot of the off or strange sharp and flat notes you hear that other guitarists don't make are notes he added to scales to customize them and make them different. I'd be willing to bet Marty doesn't often make mistakes. Just another unique factor to a musician in a class of player which only about 3 or 4 guitarists are in, coming from a long time guitar player. Jason Becker, Marty, Petrucci, and Dimebag. Broderick however is not. Great, but not AS great.
@371jon Very true, he loves to make up his own scales and arpeggios. I've played for a few years myself, and i think this guy really gets how music is supposed to sound. I only say mistakes, not as in any musical mistakes but sometimes his fretting is not as good as Broderick because Broderick probably practices in his sleep lol. Becker, Friedman, Petrucci, Dime... AND Paul Gilbert and we'll call it a deal lol
Dave and Kirk are most definitely among the gods of guitar, they are both very good and so is fucking Friedman and Brodrick. they are all different, each with there own styles. kirk may not be able to play like them, but they can't play like kirk
Kirk did not come up with any type of sound that was at all different from the shit that people had been listening to for a decade. His solo licks were cliché and overdone before Metallica was even around.
I also like that at the studio albums you always hear the bass guitar, it's not too loud and not too low, and the sound of a bass played with a pick fits so good in their sharp edgy sound and fast Mustaine-riffs.
Its so cool that Megadeth creates songs with very mainstream melodies, but at the same time it isn't mainstream. The vocals are unlike anything, the songwriting is very special with alot of tempo changes, a strange order in songs (not just intro and chorus, but sometimes 1 big run of riffs all the song) and they have a very special sound, they don't sound heavy like Pantera, but rather sharp and edgy. Martys beautiful dreamy solos and Nicks straight-to-the-riff drums make it perf.
metal is divided because of comments like that, always comparing shit between one player or the other, guys all human beings are different, marty was invited to rejoin megadeth but he is playing japaneese pop thats why he is not there, and chris is doing it great so whats the big deal??? even the fuckheads of the press say it this is probably the best line up of megadeth so lets just enjoy the band
This was Marty's prime in Megadeth and the TOS solo is by far the most memorable and perforce thrash solo. You can hate or love Megadeth but if you got a 6 string you know you will try to play this song.
That kid is a 14 year old guitar virtuoso, let’s keep talent alive by making this go viral. That is how many of these days so called artists became well known, let’s make this kid famous.
broderick so technical, so fast, so clean but martys feeling kick his ass and yours although someone studies at musical college since 5 you have five years old you cant match his feeling, the feeling gives the power in the solo and gives you the emotion
technique does not mean squat as a musician. Technique is something idiots go gaga over but it has nothing to do with creating great original music. The greatest musicians and composers of alltime have always been measured by their ability to compose, not how technical they were. Mozart technically was a mediocre piano player, but was brilliant at composition. Broderick is technical but a guy like say Slash is worlds better as a composer and thus a better musician. Thats reality.
@novemberrain1994 Screw that. I fucking hate broderick, Guy ruined Megadeth, well, I guess when Marty left it did more so. BTW I like your channel background.
@RiceKiller191 I quite like the Endgame album but obviously that does not compare to Rust in Peace or Youthanasia etc and has much more emotion, but haha thanks I think the profile picture is better though.
@novemberrain1994 Not a big fan of anything really after Countdown. A few good songs but not as brutally in you're face as stuff before that album. I can't stand Broderick though.
Yeah you can't go wrong with a little Becker. The reason I pointed it out is I have a Rhoads Background as well lol
Again as a Metallica fan, but none of the solos cranked out by Kirk (even the best ones as Fade to Black, Ride the, W/e else u think might beat this!) come close to this...
@hotkeys yes but Kirk cant play his solo's right live (wich is pretty bad since he is recycling the same licks for years if you say this isn't true you're deaf) and uses fuckin wah all the time,

@0115939141 Why fight other music? No one is making you listen to it, I like metal and I like other forms of music too. Thats like saying pizza is good, death to all other food. @SocialDeth Tell that to the 23 people that gave me thumbs up. I have been playing since before you were born. I never said Broderick wasn't good. Listen to all of Friedman's stuff before you judge. Broderick doesn't have his creativity. Creativity and feeling are what makes a musician, not pure speed and sweeping. That's why there have been only a handful of good metal bands in the past 10 years. Sorry, Friedman fucks Broderick's shit up. Ignorant means to be without knowledge. I have plenty.
@ibanezzer1 well it just off as hating if you know both musicians and have actually listen to them, then u have a right to your own opinion. I just thought you were just one of those friedman worshipers that knows nothin else. And i agree, The 2000's was a horrible time for metal
@SocialDeth Yeah, I can appreciate all good guitarists. I tend to state my opinion really strongly. I think Friedman rocks my socks and Broderick just doesn't have the feeling of Friedman. Honestly, have you ever heard a solo like the ones from Hangar 18 EVER!!! Broderick is highly skilled. I just don't think he suits Megadeth. That's my opinion and it won't change. If you haven't ever heard it, look up the album "True Obsessions" from Friedman. It rocks. Peace!!!
@SocialDeth Oh yeah I agree. Like I said, it sounds like I am bashing and maybe I am kinda unintentionally. I just like Friedman the best. Chris Poland is a badass!
@ibanezzer1 totally agree with you about Brodrick. Technically awesome but he's dead to the music and afterall, isn't that what it's about! Marty is a different animal altogether. Brilliant player!!!!!! one of my top 10 anywayz
Friedman´s guitar alone kicks Brod´s ass...although Brod is an impressive guitarist he comes nowhere near to Marty ... (composition, technique, feel, style etc etc) .....
@6project6nightmare6 One man's opinion. He can do "tricks" like sweeping, etc. really well. To hear the love in his music, though, is like finding the black in a fuckin' rainbow. It just ain't there. 99% of his solos are overkill. He is talented, but dead inside, heh heh. Friedman has more feeling and soul in his playing than Broderick by a million percent. Sorry, man. Gonna have to disagree with you.
@masters1990mj I call it like I see it, man. I'm not saying Broderick can't play. I have stated that in a couple of comments. I see a hundred people that play the same meaningless crap every time I go into a Guitar Center. I have yet to see anyone who can play even close to the way Friedman plays. It's like Hangar 18. There is no other guitar player in the world that could have even written, much less executed those solos. I concur. Broderick will NEVER touch him.
@ibanez33150 I agree to a certain extent. Chris Broderick is great in that he can play ANYTHING fast and accurately. But Marty is an elegant player who plays with feeling and finesse. I can go in any guitar shop around and find a "Chris Broderick" jamming. I have yet to walk into any guitar shop and find a "Marty Friedman." Broderick can plays Marty's stuff really well. However, the solos he writes are in no way, shape, or form gonna ever compare. They are fast meaningless solos with no soul!!!!

Hello there fellow metalheads.
Instead of? a Metal rebellion i propose? a new plan.
1.? Don't bash other metal artists, we need to unite. We cant? fight against pop music? if we arent even together.
2. Watch more and other metal?? videos to get it to the top of? the? youtube? vid list
3. Instead of bashing pop, promote metal? with? logical reasons, not? just "METAL RULES!"
If you like?? this idea,? thumbs it up JUST so? people can see it, and also spread it around.

@ibanezzer1 true but poland was a beast too, have you heard his 4 fingered tapping?? that shits pretty impressive, so is the headcrusher solo

You all talk about feeling....pff you guys have no idea what you are talking about
Friedman is badass. But Broderick is much better sorry :)!

@kankuro1701 Speed does not a bad ass make. Ask your woman.

Friedman´s guitar alone kicks Brod´s ass...although Brod is an impressive guitarist he comes nowhere near to Marty ... (composition, technique, feel, style etc etc) .....

@ibanezzer1 to bad Broderick is insanely more talented in more aspects eh?? better all round player

Sorry, man. Gonna have to disagree with you.

masters1990mj 1 year ago
@masters1990mj I call it like I see it, man. I'm not saying Broderick can't play. I have stated that in a couple of comments. I see a hundred people that play the same meaningless crap every time I go into a Guitar Center. I have yet to see anyone who can play even close to the way Friedman plays. It's like Hangar 18. There is no other guitar player in the world that could have even written, much less executed those solos. I concur. Broderick will NEVER touch him.

@ibanezzer1 WTF is the beef between Marty and Chris? their both great!!
ibanez33150 1 year ago 2
@ibanez33150 I agree to a certain extent. Chris Broderick is great in that he can play ANYTHING fast and accurately. But Marty is an elegant player who plays with feeling and finesse. I can go in any guitar shop around and find a "Chris Broderick" jamming. I have yet to walk into any guitar shop and find a "Marty Friedman." Broderick can plays Marty's stuff really well. However, the solos he writes are in no way, shape, or form gonna ever compare. They are fast meaningless solos with no soul!!!!

@ibanezzer1 theirs only one friedman and one broderick.....
