To all that say something they read somewhere, like , " Shoulda diverted!" or how the tower should have closed the field, A) tower doesnt make that call. B) diverted due to sheer? I dont think so. Its a one shot deal or microburst, and unless published due to continuing effects, whereby the filing pilot would anticipate this, "diverting" if like getting out of your car and walking home due to traffic. Doesnt work like that. Guys with a little information, leave the critique to real pilots.
You know, I may not be an expert. I have only 11,000 tt, and am typed on 73's 75's, and now drive the Bus A330/340 style. While I know only what I have actually done, and no more, no less. But I have to say, theirs about 100 too many guys who live in the basement of moms hous, flying computer games, thereby feel the need to comment on every Youtube movie about a bad approach. To everyone that said something so far off base about drinking or girl comments. Grow a set, and take a lesson.
H Did Not Try to stay on the ground. He did the right thing. He Went Around. He was running out of runway. Could have been outside limits. shoulda diverted!
I think I heard that the FO tried to land this plane and then the Captain took over after the plane got out of hand, anyway don't knock it until you try it, things can go bad in a split second when flying a plane, doesn't take much.
Well if it starts from 1000miles and must come to any other destination.. at the departure its sunny weather and at arrive its this kind of weather.. but they must be informed before..And if they miss the landing or its foggy automaticly must take off again with no disscution... TowersMistake!!!. Pilot-He did a nice crosswind.. But failed.
Another youtube dumbass who knows nothing about aviation posting another garbage "bad landing video". These clips show the best of the best dealing with the worst of the worst that mother nature has to offer. The next time you feel the need to discriminate about professional pilots you might want to educate yourself on the subject you fucking dumbass
@TombstoneAnnieOakly The computer doesn't slow down when it doesn't have enough memory. Infact I can't think of an occasion when an Airbus has crashed because it runs out off RAM lol. I know what you mean about fly by wire controls but you can fly the plane manualy as well. P.S. you stay up awfully late considering your supposed to live in the US. Check and Mate.
@TombstoneAnnieOakly Just one more thing. you said 'common sense cuz he should waved off + come in again'. 1. He did indeed go around. 2. He couldn't have avoided the problem it was a sudden crosswind gust, it hit the airplane and the pilot quickly reacted. The near wing-strike was a result of him trying to control the aircraft from smashing into the ground!
@TombstoneAnnieOakly Hey I've just read this conversation and tombstone your a retard! I've flown both the A320 and 757 and I have to say the A320 is more responsive. I too have to say I don't think you used to be in the USAF as you wouldn't be making comments like that if you were. 'this wouldn't happen to a Boeing' puh.
@TombstoneAnnieOakly You can't say 'this wouldn't happen to a boeing' and for this reason I highly doubt you used to be in the USAF. And I don't need your opinion on European airlines because your wrong, how is Lufthansa a cheap European airline?
@TombstoneAnnieOakly The facts are Airbus has a near perfect safety record and boeing doesn't. Lufthansa hasn't had a plane crash in 17 years where as American Airlines has its own page full of plane crashes on wiki, the last being a few months ago in a Boeing.
@TombstoneAnnieOakly What the hell! shut up... You say airbus doesn't have hydraulics, do you even know what hydraulics are? and I don't know why you think boeing and american pilots are the holy grail. The truth is Airbus has a near perfect saftey history and boeing doesn't
That's a very good considering the crosswind component was very close to if not more than the maximum demonstrated for that aircraft. Cross wind landings can be fun but also very difficult and nerve racking. The pilot is clearly very qualified
I was on that plane and I can tell you the pilot did well to get everyone out alive. The side winds were terrible. I was sitting on the right wing. Luckily the A320 is a great plane. I don't think a Boeing would have survived a take off that sudden.
No he definitely did not. The first thing he did wrong was attempting that landing in the first place. ADM (Aeronautical Decision Making), the reason we still have people in the cockpit is because they should be able to make a good decision on a bad look and just divert. Better than killing a few hundred people.
Oh and he way over-corrected twice which almost cost the plane, twice.
Just to correct you on one point, the Pilot was female, not that this matters, just correcting the "he" comments. - You are absolutely right, the Pilots should have refused to land the aircraft on that runway once they realized it was requiring full rudder just to keep it squared on the glide slope and approach. The tower was also in the wrong for refusing to close this runway before this event happened. Kudos to the pilot for holding on it, with 2 wheels and a tip in the grass!
thank god I was not on that plane can't German air traffic control read wind reading on their weather systems or see clouds ahead on the weather screens at all? If any other airport had this extreme cross wind problems they would ether restrict movements and only certain flights could come in from a certain angle until cross winds had eased or in severe cases close the airport in severest of cases clearly the controller in the tower clearly has vision probs. clearly it seems to me anyaway
not a bad landng, just extremely hard. i fly small planes and gliders and thats really hard to land with a 10-20 knot crosswind. in the video its prob more like a 30 knot crosswind, props for him to have the balls to land in that
he has a crosswind and was compensating with rudder. This is the right way to do it, the problem is that when you are about to touch down and let of of the rudder, the wings dip
The gust pushed it diagonal to the runway, the passengers probably shit their pants. Thank god the pilot did a touch and go instead of landing. If he would of landed the A320 probably would of flipped out.
WTFFF????? i am a pilot n i know airliners hire really experienced pilots who can atleast not touchdown and go off almost the runway the way this dude did..
he needs to go bak to the sim and practice ..
u just cant go around landin on the edges with one wing nearly cuttin away the grass on the sides..lols
Your a pilot? - yeah of a game maybe. You dont know how hard it must of been for this person too land, dont get all cocky thinking your a pilot when all you do is pilot a plane on a freaking game. Yeh, do yourself a favor and atleast try to become a real pilot, then you'll see how hard it is?
@lingping007 its hard to land a plane in those conditions i understand that. but u know pilots dont stress about that kinda stuff they try to bring it in it dont work it dont work. but yeah its hard i agree with ya. who were u talking to that said they were a pilot?
@lingping007 I agree. I'm a REAL pilot and you have no idea what the winds were doing. As you can tell from the crab angel of the aircraft... the winds were high and it was a decent cross wind. Who knows whether or not they were gusting, which would make that even worse
Dont blame the pilot!
