What makes their music so special musically is that it layers intricate, complex riffs over a solid 4/4 groove core, which enables you to enjoy their music on different levels, in regards to all the different subdivions within their beats, which creates a deep musical structure, that is seriously difficult to comprehend altogether, but gives the listener a lot of time to contemplate it.

The music I like and devote my time to requires more than that. If you like it that's fine. But telling me I need to open my mind and that my world will open up when I can finally 'realize their greatness' is just stupid.

In that way, it's like a puzzle. Only if you understand the structure can you understand the beauty behind it. It requires musical intelligence.

The music is introspective, in essence. It allows the listener to explore his mind in a new way, but requires understanding and concentration.

Once you've entered this door, the music transports you to a surreal landscape of abstract shapes and exotic textures, that reveal themselves in vivid color and blend together to form patterns of things known and unknown to you. What one person experiences is personal, since it directly reflects on his own experiences. That is why it intrigues so many.
