Tutorial: HD PVR on a Computer monitor. Component to HDMI Conversion.

I have this setup the same exact way, however, I have a component-HDMI converter with sound input but while playing games and big explosions going on, I get a blackout on screen for around 5 seconds and then it comes back on. What is causing this?

@gamingmaster303 they may have component inputs but people that buy monitors to play on are more than likely looking to play gamebattles or go to LAN tournys with their monitors to get the MLG experience, considering that what they use at MLG events. and on the monitors they use HDMI so they have no lag, and with component on a monitor more then 50% of the time you will have some type of delay on your screen which throws everyone off. especially if your competitive.

k i have a question. I got mine working but my converter is different then yours. When I use my converter the screen is a lot darker than normal, and it is really ugly and i cant stand that. 1- will the recordings be dark to? and if so should I get this converter from monoprice. @MadStrafe Did you change it from 1080p to 720p on your xbox? PVR can't record 1080p and the quality looks pretty bad. My quality is the same and I'm using a ASUS VH238H monitor.

Ok I have everything connected correctly (I hope), I have downloaded the capture software, and I can navigate arround my playstation whilst looking at the capture software, only problem is, is that nothing is showing on my monitor(connected to ps3). My output settings are correct as I can record, but nothing is appearing on my monitor(connected to ps3), any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I cannot play off of my computer due to the delay.

ok nice but i have a Alienware monitor 2 hdmi ports my ps3 is fine cause it has hdmi but i have 1st gen xbox no hdmi but if have the hdtv cords can i get that converter box and convert it to hdmi and then have it plugged into my 2nd hdmi port and if so will the astros work in the optical slot on the converter cause i saw that u didn't have them plugged in.
