  • how much does one of these cost?

  • @mbcNOOFS Check with Tony for current prices. He may have them on his website. Search on Yamamoto guitar

  • The sustain on that thing is monstrous! I love it...

  • tony yamoto has some talent. it sounds great clean bell like tone.

  • Oh wOOOOOOWwwwww!!! Thankyou for playing the guitar like THIS!!!!

  • Is it a good idea if you tune a 12 string down to like Drop A to add an octave for the 2nd string insted of unison? cause if you can tune a string up to G, why not.

  • @bamf6396 Well, this is a long scale bari, so that might be tricky, tho it does seem possible. I'd have to look at string guages and try it. Tony recently built a multi-scale 12 string designed so that he could make *all* the strings in octaves, even the 1st! It's a very different instrument, and pretty cool sounding.

  • @DougYoungGuitar i was just talking about a regular scale 12 string but multi scale/fan fretted guitars are sweet!

  • @bamf6396 I think you'd have trouble tuning a normal guitar down to A, but I suppose it worth a try!

  • @DougYoungGuitar My main ESP stays in Drop A with a 12-60 set

  • @bamf6396 Ah, but try dropping everything down by a 4th. Might work, but Id have to guess things will be pretty floppy, especially that 12 on top. The bari works nicely down that low with the combination of 28.6 scale and 1 .70 low string, and I forget 0.18 on the top? For sure, this can be done, but I think tunings that low benefit from a guitar that's designed for them.

  • @DougYoungGuitar Nile and Ingested use Drop A and it works fine for them, the loosness makes it sound chunkier /watch?v=HUkw-fGnMuc

  • @bamf6396 Death Metal tuning on an acoustic for playing music like this?

  • @PA2323 no, just for intros, bridges, like Augury does

  • should make an octave 12 string lol

  • Interesting that you said you took out the octave string on the low 6th string, it's exactly why I see the 8 string Baritone as a 12 with 8 strings taken off, as opposed to a 6 string with 2 added strings. I do believe those mids need to shine more and 'would personally have more fun with an 8 string, or at least as far as I can think of :)

  • have a look at Terry Fuhrmann he inwented his own new styl of guitar you should look at him and suport him

  • Is there a trick to fingerpicking a 12 string? I have tried it on mine and my nails get caught up in the strings. Are short nails needed?

  • @Henders100 You know, I find longer nails helps, it lets you get down in between the strings to pick. Definitely more tension there, pulling two strings at once!

  • @DougYoungGuitar Thanks for the reply. To be fair, I haven't practised for long enough as it can be quite frustrating. I may have to sit down and send a good few hours working on it. Thanks again.

  • @DougYoungGuitar Thanks for the reply. I guess I just need to practice more. It's hard to find a fingerstyle tune that goes well on a 12 string as at times things get too "busy" when playing.

  • Great guitar and amazing player!

  • This sounds nice and a cool look to it, yet not a lot of bottom end it seems.

Might wanna also check out the Oberhausen Baritone 12 string on YouTube (soon to go on eBay).

It is jumbo sized, one of only 5 in the world and is tuned down a fourth to B.

  • @Tomaji69 I'm not sure You Tube is a very good way to evaluate the sound. There's a lot of low end on the guitar, tho, like most 12 strings, the high end jangle can sometimes dominate and mask the low end a bit. I've lately been playing this guitar with the bottom octave string removed - it doesn't seem necessary, and allows the low end to come out stronger.

  • How mutch do I have to pay to get one of these? In euros please

  • @sambiga You can contact Tony at his web site for current pricing. Just search for Tony Yamamoto

  • Doug, thoughts on this (12) vs. the Taylor 8-string Baritone? Feel free to write privately. Mahalo!

  • @Gyrkin59 These are pretty different and hard to cpmare. The Yamamoto's a normal 12, pretty jangely, just tuned lower. Lots of tension, lots of strings to handle. The Taylor Bari-8 is unique, and different from most anything else. Easier to play because there's less tension, and fewer doubled strings, but has different musical uses because only 2 strings are doubled.

  • @DougYoungGuitar Thanks for the info and your thoughts. I've got Tommy making me a baritone 12 neck, which I'll load with just 9 or 10 strings (or maybe even 8, if that sounds best)... may attach it to an acoustic body, or to a double f-hole hollow-body electric. We'll see...

  • i've been recommend to look at getting a Yamamoto for my next guitar as i'm thinking of investing in a fan fret and his is within my price range, have you tries his fan fret by chance?

  • @mutley2209 I have, and am going to play several tomorrow, let me get back to you with fresh impressions. email me directly, if you'd like.

  • @DougYoungGuitar cool i message ya tommoz =D

  • Tremendous playing, beautiful guitar.

  • Has that got an A on the bottom? What's your tuning?

Lovely guitar. I've had to get rid of all my jumbos and long scale guitars due to physical issues. I'm stuck with a pair of Taylor T5s, one of which I keep tuned to open E with a B on the bottom (open G form). It actually does pretty well, as I play mostly plugged in...

  • Yes, this was tuned to "DADGAD", but down to A. it's definitely a workout between the long scale, the heavy strings, and the 12 strings

  • what do you record your audio with? sounds fantastic I wish all utube audio rang out as clear as this...

  • I'm using a pair of Schoeps microphones in a M/S setup, which is especially good when converted to mono, which I think helps on you tube. Great River preamp, recorded into Adobe Audition on a PC.

  • That's really nice. Pretty melody. Thanks.

  • wow this baritone sounds great!!! the whole tone sound is tight and full with impressive High's

  • Beautiful!

  • Wonderful sounding guitar! I have never seen, let alone heard, a 12-string baritone guitar. That is awesome. You must have three truss rods in that bad boy!! :-) Thanks for the video! -Derek

  • Oh, man! A 12-string Baritone. The best of both worlds. Sounds great. More! Encore!

  • love it!=)

  • I WANT ONE!!
