im a straight heterosexual woman, why did i say that because now im going to say how much i agree with everything you said and that being a gay man does not make this your problem. its a human problem and we all need to take heed to the message. we all need to prevent and protect ourselves and spread the word to do the same to any and everyone who will listen. thank you for this message, its powerful and i shared it...!!! God bless you and your journey...:-). LIVELOVELAUGH...!!!
I stand an applaud this video.... amazing man... God bless you for your story..... And for that I love you... and for this you will save millions of lives... including mine.. thank you!!!!
Mr. Roberts, I have watched your vids sometime now and beleive this is the first time I have commented. You have demonstrated LOVE and exposed us to it by your honesty, laughter and humanity. That seed shall flourish and bless the masses. I Pray that you continue To LOVe and the healing of that love continues to touch your life as well as others.
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us (those who viewed your video). I really appreciate your words and genuine HONESTY!!! Thank you for doing what you just did and continue to do to promote the awareness of HIV. Stay positive, genuine and continued health. I too have been searching for love a long time- I pray that you have found the love you were looking for. If you have not I pray that you find it!!! I've been told that REAL LOVE is POWERFUL!
You have truly touched me. My heart goes out to you :-) This video is so powerful, and I know it took a lot of courage to pull this off, but you did. I'm sure this video will speak to several people that need to see this and give your message clearly..
WOW!!!! William, You have touched me in a way unknown... I am happy and sad for you all at the same time. Sad because all your heart wanted was LOVE... Happy because you are still STANDING and baby your standing strong! For you I pray HEALTH, For you I pray that the audience that hears you speak or watches your videos... Feel an overwhelming need to break free from their "SHAME" and get tested for themselves and our children. Thank you, thank you so very much! xoxo -Kendra
This is one of those videos you watch, that ends up staying with you for a long time.... Thank you for this video. Beautifully done, may God be with you always! x
You are right, every day when we take that pill, it will remind us...it was scary for me at first as well, but now it has become a reminder of my resolve for a better, healthier life, and that I will not let my HIV define my life, but instead I get to redefine what life with HIV means!
I am just floored. I took my first Atripla last Friday and I really needed this video. After being diagnosed 9 years ago I denied treatment because of financial reasons. I was very lucky to have been as healthy as I was and am. In June, on my birthday I received results of a cd4 of 84 and a vl of 91,000 copies. It is never too late and I plan on living as you do. Please stay in touch and take comfort in knowing you are not alone. Much love and life to you my friend.
Your video is very powerful, encouraging yet amazing and it says it all; a message that definitely needs to be shared. I applaud you for doing this video.
When I look at you I see: dignity. heart. integrity. empathy. compassion. light. Love. Your purpose is so strong it almost brought tears to my eyes. I rarely comment on videos these days but I had to share my thoughts with you. Stay strong and true in doing what you do.
Signed, someone you don't know, but cares. Peace....D
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! It's funny how we can sometimes think we are immune from HIV/AIDS. It's funny how people can even look at this video and think, "Well, that's HIM...it won't happen to me." It's funny how people can think, "Well, I'm not gay, so therefore, this message doesn't apply to me." Well, I can admit that I am one of those people who think, "I'm married...so I'm safe." But that's not true either because I only know what I'M doing or not doing on the side. THANK YOU!
I can't help but think of all the people you are helping that may feel alone, afraid and unloved due to their status. And for that, I respect you and I thank you.
woooooooooooow is all i can say im shocked by ur story i kno about hiv and staying protected but ur story is touching it really is.. god is on ur side! god bless u
Unfortunately, and this is in no way a judgement call, HIV doesn't transcend idiocy. SO many people, grown-ass people, become infected via pure stupidity. That is the place where I have a really hard time finding understanding, much less, empathy. He mentioned "being in love" and "trying to get to know someone" when he became infected. Call me crazy, call me unsympathetic, but being in love is not enough of an excuse to abandon one's scruples. Am I wrong?
@IHEARTNERDS34 really!? I would like to know how you measure pure stupidity. Because if you’re suggesting that trusting my partner & learning to love my partner lowered my scruples and is an act of pure stupidity, when instead its human, then by your metric system every woman who willingly bears her husbands child is purely stupid…
@williamkroberts I'm not sure what prompted your correlation of homo/hetero relationships/behavior per my initial comment. I don't believe that I suggested HIV/AIDS as a gay disease. None of us are exempt from making sound choices in the bedroom. I firmly stand behind that.
@IHEARTNERDS34 what prompted my correlation, as you agree, NONE of us are exempt from making sound decisions in the bedroom. And part of that "NONE of us" include homo/hetero relationships/behaviors because we are all prone to HIV regardless of our sexual preferences. But what makes a "sound choice" to you might not be a "sound choice" for someone else.
@IHEARTNERDS34 Every bedroom interprets decision making differently and its about being sensitive to that and giving ppl the benefit of the doubt that they are making the "right" decision for their "relationship". Without calling any actions stupid I am merely suggesting that people look closer at their decision making & relationships
@IHEARTNERDS34 I know that no one is exempt and you know that no one is exempt but everybody else doesn't know that. There are people who only wear condoms to prevent pregnancy. This video was my attempt in letting ppl know that HIV/AIDS isn't prejudice.
@IHEARTNERDS34 ...every man who lays with his wife is purely stupid, each willing party in every trusting couple from here to the Himalayas would be considered, by your ruler, purely stupid. That’s a lot of people and to think you were probably born from “pure stupidity”. Because the message of my video is simply that, “don’t think it can’t happen to you”. Wives get it like black gay men can get like children can get it like heterosexual males get it. No one is exempt.
@IHEARTNERDS34 So thank you for pointing your finger with language such as “idiocy” & “pure stupidity“ & pretending that you haven’t passed judgment when you have. Thank you for perpetuating the stigma.
@williamkroberts As an out, gay, black man myself, you have my complete and utter support. However, I believe that it is a disservice to those who share my (and your) identity to not promote or champion, to some degree, personal accountability. I feel that is unfair and irresponsible to focus solely on lifting the veil of shame as it relates to men of color and AIDS/HIV. I feel that we must also, simultaneously somehow, purvey the fact that behaving irresponsibly can often prove deadly.
@IHEARTNERDS34 Championing for personal accountability I can appreciate that because I believe in that. But even in appreciating personal accountability and spreading that concept… my video wasn’t asking for sympathy because I was “wronged”. The video was asking that people look closer at their situations and know that even the safest-seeming facades can result in misfortune.
@IHEARTNERDS34 It's always the loudest one with the least amount of substance. Sir you are a bit too loud and inappropriate. Be unsympathetic, Be crazy, Be judgement. You are part of the ignorance that allows people to go untreated and I hope for your sake that you don't become infected if you already aren't (and throwing your feelings about the situation on to others) because if that's the case, you and your ignorance is a danger to others and yourself.
@RanityIsOnThat Sure. Cause HIV/AIDS education, self-care, and protection are irrelevant here. Being a politically-correct sounding board won't save lives. I'm sorry.
I bow my head to your braveness, strength, openess and sincerity. Your channel made a huge impression and I truly believe also differences in the community and minds of those watching and understanding your video.
