Braindead was about aliens, yes? I saw it once. Dead Alive is about a zombie outbreak as the result of a monkey bite. The style is very similar since both were filmed in NZ I believe, and both filmed my Peter Jackson. I think Dead Alive is more funny though, and is definitely more gory. Look it up on IMDB. Cheers!

Uh no, the movie who's about the main's caracter's mother beaten by a monkey-rat IS Braindead (titled Dead Alive in the US and shot in the 90'), it's a Peter Jackson movie, from New Zealand, and very fun^^.

When I saw the trailer I thought it was gorier than Braindead, or maybe as gore as Braindead.

But it definitely looks as fun as Braindead^^

The american Dead Alive is from Troma indeed, but I didn't see it.

Hm. they must have titled it differently for Europe. In the US, Dead Alive is about the rat monkey, and Braindead is about aliens who are disguised as humans and are plotting to take over. Both however, are made by Peter Jackson. If Troma also released a movie in the US titled Dead Alive, I'm not aware of it.
