@ndzoko My point is this: What gives us the right to point our finger and God and blame Him for unrighteousness? He IS righteousness. He IS good. It's kind of pathetic, us, tiny humans incapable of complete understanding, to try to outwise/outsmart the One who established Wisdom in her place (Proverbs 8:29-30), the One who is the Warrior (Exodus 15:3), and Jesus, who will slay nations by His Word (Revelation 19:15). In a nutshell, that is what God says. But the purpose of Him saying it was not "blahblahblah I'm God and you listen blahblahblah".

He did it to SEPERATE the Israelites from the people around them. The people the Jews lived by were a bunch of sensuous, pleasure seeking people. God wanted the Holiness of His name to be reverred, and the Israelites represented His name in Canaan.

@ndzoko I'm not saying that you're statement is wrong. I've read Leviticus before, and other instances in the Bible where God has had people killed for disobedience (Annias and Sapphira in Acts for example).

But, Leviticus 18:24-28 gives a reason for what I previously said.

One more point. God is God. We are most definitely not. Our righteousness is like dirty rags (Isaiah 64:6). We have been eternally seperated from the Lord (Romans 3:23). Our works can't save us (Galatians 2:8-9).

@ndzoko It says in the Bible that the wages of sin is death. If you go your whole life sinning, ESPECIALLY in the old testament, it's not going to be good for you. Notice: God never killed anyone that was reverently seeking him. It was all the people that led their own lives and said God wasn't real, the Baal worshipers, etc. God's not going to reward the good you do with death, but he will NOT stand to watch you screw up yours and others lives. Eventually he'll just take you out of the game.
