I'm somewhat the same. I was raised on Classical music and olf 30's-50's musicals. Barbra was my first LIVING vocalist XD

Now I listen to a LOT of music, and there are quite a few singers in other countries who are what I call THAT countries' Barbra.

Try out Momoe Yamaguchi, Minako Honda, Ayumi Hamasaki, Googoosh, and Sibel Can, for example. All have amazingly beautiful voices and know/knew how to put emotion into their singing.
