  • That's a good point, person under me. Unfortunately games have almost completely gone 2012 on the creativity in general. Amazing compositions like this I havent heard in a game since...?

  • It's true that a lot of big brand Western companies now use existing record label music (think Burnout, or Dirt).

The reason being that the games have become too reality / simulation based to use fantastical music effectively. Often there is no real music at all.

But because the Japanese treat gaming as often fictional and fantasy based, they often have fantastical compositions made for games.

The west did make some great compositions in past generations, but seems to have moved away from that.

  • Magnificent

  • japanese music art, like this, always make me cry

  • @Creative1722 I know. Japan actually puts effort into their game sound tracks.

  • Real music.

  • Am I the only one that thinks that this game's 20 fps cap adds to the gaming experience?

  • Best soundtrack ever. love thev cave part so good arrangements

  • 1:52 i always get chills at this part

  • Oh god I wanted to cry

  • This is my favorite song in the game. :)

  • I recently picked up a copy of Panzer Dragoon for ¥10 at a Japanese game shop. I was pleasantly surprised when I put the disc in my PC, I was able to rip the soundtrack and it's awesome! So far this is my favorite track. I love it when the orchestral hits come in at 1:52. The whole song is beautiful and epic while at the same time, like most Sega tunes, it's pretty fast and energetic.

  • Yeah this is legendary Music score. I am hoping to see a new Panzer Dragoon for PS3 that would be amazing =0)

  • pansy dragon

  • hmm this kinda reminds me of the "theme of shaft" especially the flute parts and the percussion parts and part at 1:14

  • ha I have this game.

  • I think Panzer Dragoon is the only game that manages to bring me the feel of one of those good old fashioned movies with this track. It reminds me of the late 60s and 70s combined with the graphics and frame rates at 30fps. I love it!

  • This was in a console game in 1995!? Why has this not gotten more recognition!?

  • i never played the original, but thankfully i have Orta, which is finally on the 360's compatability list. once you've beat orta, it unlocks a fully playable port of the original Panzer Dragoon, and aparently (i haven't checked yet, but i recall reading in the manual a while back) you can also play Zwei. the only one which it doesn't have is Saga, which is the one i am most DYING to play. that game is virtually impossible to play nowadays, unfortunately.

  • @EpicZantetsuken "unfortunately", Orta only has the original game as an unlockable. Try downloading the ROMs and playing Zwei and Saga on an emulator, or even better, burn them to a disc and play them on an actual Sega Saturn. Let me know if you need help modifying your console to do so.

  • @WingedBeings Man, you are a wise and kind. That and the epic music > No equal.

  • @WingedBeings

I need help. How do you do all that?

  • @EpicZantetsuken you can't play Zwei. I've only seen the first one.

  • @ATP2555ify damn >:(

oh well. are there roms of Zwei and Saga?

  • sadly never played the game, but LOVE the sound track

  • dude this is rapture music!!! its going to rain down on us from heaven, god will bomb the devil and then we will be at peace, sega is part of gods plan...

  • This is the song when I think of flight

  • True amazing song.

  • This has to be my favorite VGM ever. Thumbs up if u agree.

  • This music was waaayyyyy ahead of it time back in the mid 90's for a video game man i remember when my dad bought the sega saturn and me and my brother was only 7 years old and we came over to play it, the first two games he owned for it was this and virtua fighter 1 man hearing this music blew me away because i had never ever heard music for a video games like this ever. Wow memories how much i miss being a child in the 90's

  • @jnieves77

godbless you jnieves77 its stuff like this that is so dear to our hearts, what we all went throught in the 1900s to make everybody understand about japan your dad is a pioneer to japanese life style, nippon makes this world go round...

  • @edotsuki333 Yeah man i cherish those memories those were the times of my life, games back then were the best and way ahead they're time man i miss those days so much man, 94,95,96, all the way up to 1999 i miss those years so much.

  • This isn't just some of the best music I've heard in a game (already a a great feat) but some of the beat music I've ever heard...

Eat your heart out John Williams =p

  • @dragongirl66 Take out "Video Game" and you're good to go.

  • This piece is so painfully beautiful...it makes me yearn to escape the bonds of earthbound existence and take flight.

  • Add "infinite" before "youtube" in the url to loop.

  • I remember i used to play this game over and over.. the atmosphere, the depth, the music was awesome.! Nights, Donkey Kong country, Crash Bandicoot all had amazing soundtracks.. i'm still a hardcore gamer, maybe i'm just getting old, but games today just dont have it like this.

  • Sega Saturn FOR THE WIN

  • Yeah best game music for sure :) its pure magic. I wonder where this composer went after this soundtrack? I cant find anymore made from him

  • This has always been a great orchestral piece. Appropriately titled.

  • genuinely beautiful and extremely accom[plished music...how often can you say that about a video game ?:P

  • cuantos recuerdos de este maravilloso juego , este tema es sorprendente !

  • Excellent for a 1995 game, cant beat it.

  • @ShadowRave Excellent for ANY art medium. ;)

  • A true classic........

  • I love this song, very majestic.

If anything, SEGA knew how to compose a soundtrack.

  • fantastic!

  • Wonderful music

  • Man, I've been looking for this track for a long time, because I never knew what it was called (had the toon downloaded back in my napster days). Just been digging through Panzer Dragoon soundtrack vids. Thanks a ton!!! :)

  • このBGM好きだ!うおおおおおおおおおおお叫びたくなるぜ、オレも飛びたい、とびたああああああああああああああああああああい!

  • This reminds me TOO much of Dragon Quest 8 and its orchestrated soundtrack. I wonder if some of the people here helped with that game as well.

  • Who would ever think that a videogame could have such an awesome soundtrack???? This is comparable to Sonic, Nights, Outrun, and even SHENMUE for crying out loud!!! (All of which are Sega mind you ;))

  • That's what I say. ^^

  • You named some great stuff, especially Shenmue.

Mario Galaxy has a good soundtrack too...though on the whole, I'd say Sega tops the bunch when it comes to music.

  • @SeventhHanyou Easily mate, without doubt.

  • No contest mate.

  • I love soundtracks like these....that drummer is fantastic!

  • Epic.... melancholic

  • God this song is beautiful.

  • when you heard this b.s.o the only think that i think is...the b.s.o of panzer dragoon 2 is a full of shit.
