I often look back fondly and remember the absolute fantastic times I had every single weekend and I would also love to relive those memories once again. It's made me who I am today and I wouldn't change anything from those days. Thanks for sharing the videos.
I was at this rave and a number of others on you tube, the spontaneity of these events still blows me away when i see the planned overly commercial safe events of today. I believe my generation did something original, anti establishment and very exciting. I witnessed the cultural explosion of the 1990's which i believe was a direct result of the mind expansion of the late eighties. I feel sorry for the generation that has followed, all they seem to have is gagdets and regurgitated culture.
@MrMatt2644 lol, how did u guys seem to the people of the 60s n 70s who said they were original, u had gadgets compared to them, times change, people luv it when they partied, lol
if you watch all the WD vids, you can see how WD turned into a show case for dnb heads....
i can remebre how dnb came from the back room and took over the main hardcore room. Eyes down and dance like you just dont care. DNB was the death of all that.
it was ike early, early break dance days, it was ruined by rap.
Best thing about WD apart from the love and unity of 20,000 people from all races, was the level of noise, you ould hear it 10 miles away. and the after partys at camber sands.

Ok Im getting really sick of every old school rave videos i look up cause i just started raving(DC/Baltimore Dubstep/DnB/House) and i wanted to see how it was back then theres always the "Raves were the best in the 80's and 90's". The best rave that every happen was WOODSTOCK! There is no need to compare generations, just remember that you had the best times of your life and pass it on the the young noobs of this generation.
I cannot express how sad it is to know I will never get to experience this. Everyone in this video is so connected: complete strangers are dancing in one, big group. You don't see that much, if at all, anymore and it's really sad. We are all one. No matter who you are, there are some things that make us all human. Remember that
@MrJas1991 I`m 41 now and I was lucky enough to go through this era with my mate and everyone was just loved up and we didn`t wanna start trouble with each other or anyone for that matter. We were too busy dancing all night every weekend. You really did miss a big part of history.Hope you didn`t mind me replying to you.......
@MrJas1991 Those partys still excist, they're very rare and hard to find so that only those who search real hard will find them. That's the nice party public you want. But it is indeed sad that this isn't ''normal'' anymore.
@MrJas1991 you dont see much of complete strangers dancing together as one anymoree?!?!? wtf ?!?!?! are you sheltered?!?!?!? i see that shit at least once a week. please tell me your not really that sheltered
Jddrinker...................my daughter plays all my old tunes, but jazzed up to be modern! Looks at me like I am mental, when I say, yeah know that, been to that rave....................lol
from 89 till 99 dance music had a great evolution , since 99 until now , dance music didnt keep up the machines evolution , and it is so great or worse than it was
Man I grew up on this right here having my older brother going to the under ground parties and playing this type of music ...... old school techno, acid, house FUCKIN CLASSIC......I go to some shows now a days and cant stand the people and all the pill popping just cause everybody else does it......sh!t wish i was old enough to have enjoyed this right here "HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE"
I had two stints in the scene, 89 - 91 the scene got bad with violence and dealers fighting for turf rights, and basically being invaded by shiney shoes and hair do's. Then 95-2000, my younger brother coaxed me into going out, at first I was trying to relive the original scene without success. After adapting to the newer scene, I could see both eras had there pluses and minuses.
I really can appreciate the old skoolers being nostalgic and saying something like this will never be repeated. I can relate, I fondly look back on the punk scene from yesteryear, as modern punk is quite rubbish. But this all comes down to opinion. Theres a load of people saying the same thing about the techno sound that was prominent a few years later. To be honest, the tech/minimal parties right now have an amazing vibe which, combined with the modern sound, couldn't have happened back then.
I know what you mean but I think the old skoolers (like me) mean that it won't be repeated again because the goverment put a stop to it, yes there are big events on now but part of the thrill back then was that you felt you were experiencing something totally new and of course in most respects breaking the law.
I hope that makes sense, I could talk for hours on the subject but not type for hours :)
OK I HAVE TO ANSWER TO MODEONVALENCIA, Im sorry for VALENCIA but VALENCIA is DEAD... Is a shaem how the popularity and the TV crate and the drugs and the destroy obviously of buying drinks in a petrol Stations while you could fed your car, it was just too much and it had to end it like that I think. Im very glad I had lived those time and I would never find a place like Valencia I though. But now is another time and is diferent you just have to look and live of what you enjoy at the time
The beggining of all this is the post punk, new wave, technopop and industrial scene of England and the oldschool discohouse culture of Chicago mixed with Detroit musical technologies, Ibiza was a breaktrough beetweem Valencia & Manchester & Usa club/rave scenes, and this connection will in the 90's from Valencia&Barcelona to Berlin and hard trance scene, which was the inspiration for the Makina scene, the spanish happy hardcore of the 90's.
@ModeONvalencia MOST OF THE PRODUCTION OF VALENCIA SOUND WAS ITALIAN EXSPECIALLY FROM THE REGION OF VENETO VENICE, PIECE LIKE SUENO LATINO OR SONIDO THE VALENCIA ,RICH IN PARADISE , ULTIMO IMPERO BLACK BOX AND THE WANDERFULL CRAZY MAN OF THE BLAST WAS ALL ITALIANS BUT MOST PEOPLE BELIVE THAT ARE SPANISH BECOUSE THE LYRICS AND THE SIMILITUDE OF NAMEITALIANS WITH SPANISH
Then the scene goes really harder and underground, it generates the Makina sound in Catalonia and also in Valencia, a happy hardcore undeground scene takes place during 1995/6-2002 or so.
La Ruta Destroy is a parallel musical movement of the Madchester & Acid House scene, the oficial party goers (Ruteros or Bakalas) drugs were mescalina, extasy, speed and lsd. Clubs like ACTV were in contact with some Fantazia partys and djs, I think it was in 1992.
WOW!!!! Brings tears to my eyes!!! AMAZING DAYS....never to be repeated!!! Still club it but aint the same....too much cat fertilaizers and ting!!! The spainish ave it laaarge though like we had beck in the late 80's...hat off to the Spanish!!!! Esta La visa..keepin it rockin!!!
Talking about Spain...I'm from Valencia...an important city for the underground club in Spain history...
google & youtube for "Ruta Destroy" "Ruta del Bakalao" "Sonido de Valencia" "Sonido Levante" and google & youtube for clubs like "Discoteca Chocolate" "Central Rock" "Espiral" "N.O.D." "Don Julio" "ACTV" "Barraca" "Spook" "Masia", all from the Ruta del Bakalao or Ruta Destroy.
During 1979-1985 Madrid was the city, new wave, post punk, gotic, technopop, etc.
During 1986-1993 Valencia was the city, ebm, electro, dark rock & punk, techno pop, industrial, acid house, technodance, early hardcore, etc, party goers and clubs from thursday to monday. It ended with the mass media sensationalism and the laws and deaths for drugs where the real fuck. It lasted this years known as Ruta Destroy or Ruta del Bakalao.
i was there that night...it was run by a group of friends of mine ....dont know if the music been added to the video...cant remember any of the djs playing that bad...it was a chilly night....and it was moved there last minute ....a certain man named;DAVE THE RAVE; went to court over this and was fined either 10000 pounds or 20000 i cant remember....this was world dance 1st party and jp went on to do awol and lydd airport....
@SilverShamrock71 we have to remember that the mixing decks only came about in full swing in about 87 when chicago house started to take over the scene (thank f**k it did as it was the start of a new landmark in raving).
i agree though it is shoddy mixing but ohwell i wouldnt complain, just dance......dance.....dance.
@Tektribe808 yea exactly, what happened to people just havin way too much fun lately? have people got too self conscious, have the parties got too commercial, or are the dr*gs just not up to that much!?
Hi Tokyohands, The Kids today have gone back on booze(which means crap dancing and is like going back to the horrible eighties) and the pills are apparently a quarter of the strength of what they were. The music from 89 onwards and in particular 91/92 was revolutionary. Back in the day people loved dancing all night and there was no booze and the pills gauranteed an unbelievably happy vibe. Why the kids are boozing again baffles me .

HAPPY DAYS, watching this makes me feel like it was only a couple of years ago, what i'd give for just one more night, if you missed it i feel so sorry for ya.
It's on the KLF's What time is love Album( pink n' green) b side; look for on DISCOGS or GEMM as for being on Y tube, haven't found it yet, will post as soon as.........
Three decks on the go....sounds like the style of Carl Cox in the mix....but that is a guess.... not sure on first tune...thought it was D-Shake - Dance the night away...but that got released in 91??? Italo classic ..Real Wild Horse...and KLF - What time is love .............. Rave making its mark in our history books
that's a load of bollocks house music was just sounding better & better each year as the techology was advancing. If u say it went downhill then people wouldnt listen to it and neither would there be any famous house dj's about.
i love house music nowadays, cant hold a candle to 88-92 though, even if you dont like it, you have to respect it, still sampled loads in modern stuff
i can't even claim to have seen the acid house scene but house like Jesse Rose, Laidback Luke, Jack Beats, etc keep things fresh. i appreciate acid house but it's silly to say all house has gone downhill
Not what you no,it's who you no my friend.....

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Thank god the house craze died but unfortunately the music stayed and went downhill ever since
gazzjeffery 3 years ago
that's a load of bollocks house music was just sounding better & better each year as the techology was advancing. If u say it went downhill then people wouldnt listen to it and neither would there be any famous house dj's about.

i love house music nowadays, cant hold a candle to 88-92 though, even if you dont like it, you have to respect it, still sampled loads in modern stuff
tomfoolery57 2 years ago
i can't even claim to have seen the acid house scene but house like Jesse Rose, Laidback Luke, Jack Beats, etc keep things fresh. i appreciate acid house but it's silly to say all house has gone downhill

The track at 1.11 is RAUL ORELLANA - REAL WILD HOUSE! What a fantastic tune especially when that accoustic guitar kicks in!
