  • thankyou couch its usefull

  • @Farisdinho80 you are very welcome!

  • Pretty much every time I win the battle either the ball will bounce off a attacker or they will foul me and it won't be called

  • @douglasxboxx3 sounds like you need to mentally commit to the tackle more. I use to have that problem. I would try to win it but the other player always got the lucky bounce. Then when I changed my mindset and had no doubt in my mind I would win it, then I would win the majority of my tackles and get the lucky bounces. Believe in it® more!!

  • Sigh, sometimes some strikers have such great footwork, I can't tackle them their footwork is too fast, I can only block them off, forcing them to the sides, such that they have to pass to their other teammates, am I defending right? Thanks!

  • @sepertine blocking them (as long as you don't foul) and forcing them sideways and them to make a pass is good defending. You don't always have to win the ball from them. Having said that sometimes you want to win the tackle when it's on too. I can't tell if you are defending right since I can't see you in action. Watch my video titled "Soccer Defense - MLS Jed Zayner demonstrates how to defend". That will help you!

  • it help me so much

  • I play defense. Defending is by far what I am best at. I am not a big and athletic guy at all but I make up for it by being smart. I have always said that defending deals more with being smart than athletic.I just want to say that this guy is an idiot when it comes to defense. I mean sure he is right about how should jockey and not charge and stab , I get that. But the only time you should ever back up that far away from the attacker is maybe in a one on one situation, that is it.

  • @William96465 1st. Thanks for leaving a comment. 2nd. Did you watch the whole video? I think you might have mis understood the video. 3rd. I disagree with your comment. If you step to an attacker as described in this video they will pass in the space behind you, which is more dangerous. 4th. You have a right to your opinion and I respect it. But there is no reason to call me an idiot. That's just rude and disrespectful. 5th. Thanks again for watching a leaving a comment.

  • my problem is that a lot of the time i win the ball but it almost always rebounds off the attacker...

  • @fznutmeg83 that happens sometimes. It's more a mindset issue in my opinion. When you go into a tackle you need to 100% believe you are going to win the tackle, no doubts. You think like that and the balls will start bouncing your way. Let me know how it goes??

  • great video. I really like that you help us on the tactical aspect as well.

  • isnt it better to pressure an attacker than to drop of

  • @znkhan666 all depends on the situation. In the situation described in this video (when an attacker is not close to the goal and there is space between you already) then it's best to drop off. Did you watch the video? Watch it fully, it explains in more detail then my comment can.

  • @urfutbalchanel

settle the ball and wait for another attacker to work with or cross to or send a through ball to. there is nothing wrong with passing back but don't try to force a play..... unless you're messi or ronaldinho.

  • but wouldn't leaving such a big space give them time to settle a long shot? that can get pretty dangerous too. :/

  • @Jayson1996 good question. That's why I say in the video as soon as the player is about 25-30 yards away from your goal then that's a good time to finally step up and close them down tighter. Most youth players aren't going to be scoring goals consistently from 25-30 yards away. If you are playing a team that has a player who scores a lot from distance then maybe he or she needs to be closed down at the 35 yard mark.

  • @Jayson1996 think about it this why. Would you rather the player shooting from 35 yards away or playing a through ball in the space you left open to their forward who is now 1v1 with your goalie? Which situation has better odds of scoring?

  • nicee i learned some good tips.. im a centerback and my stoppers always let the forward go through so i have to step up and attack them (usually they pass behind me and they score lol) so i now imnot gona concede space. thanks bro :) helped a lot!!

  • @shqiperiany great, glad you learned some good tips! I was laughing at your comment in the parentheses... that was funny! Glad you really know why this video makes sense! Let me know how it works when you don't concede the space!

  • Are you going to do another tutorial with Jed Zayner or another pro soccer player again?

  • @SAOTG I might do another video with Jed Zayner, but its not in the plans for anytime soon. In August I did a defending tutorial with the Chicago Fire's Gonzalo Segares and a Free kicks video with the Fire's Marco Pappa. Search for "Soccer heading with Gonzalo Segares of the Chicago Fire" and "Free Kicks with Marco Pappa of the Chicago Fire". I plan to do more videos with pros in the future. Be on the look out!

  • Thanks this was really helpful, i play midfield and holding midfield (like defensive mid) and i needed to improve my tackling cos im not a big player, this helps :D

  • @footyfarid19 glad it helps. Being big and fast helps, but it's not everything. Read the game the fastest and no matter your size you will be considered a good player!

  • cool, it still looks nice over there, it's really cloudy and getting cold here in Chicago

  • @deLasChivas yes, still nice here in Louisiana. Today was actually a tad hot. Good luck handling that cold in Chicago! I've been through a few of those winters... burrrr!!!

  • @OnlineSoccerAcademy wen the defender dosent step up what should you do as an attacker?.

  • @urfutbalchannel not sure if I replied to this. If they don't step up as an attacker you should continue to attack the space and try to draw them in so you can pass behind them. If they don't step up at all just keep moving forward, scanning the field for passes until you can eventually get in range to shoot. Easier said then done, but if you have space, then attack it.

  • @OnlineSoccerAcademy thnku..:).!

  • but if u don't step up you give time for the attacker to play the ball.

  • @hemal67 not stepping up against the attacker brings time for you're defenders to come back as well.

  • @hemal67 true you do give the attacker time to play the ball. But if they play it sideways, in front of you or backwards it's not a dangerous pass from them. If you step up and they pass in behind you, that's a dangerous pass they played because you stepped up. Also what @cena123454321 said is correct too. Does this all make sense?

  • Great video. I have just learned some pretty sweet tips. :)

  • @Altairescu thanks! Glad you learned a few things!

  • YES!
