It would be really nice if she could be drafted into the enhanced Medicare for All movement. It's really one of the best ways to get equitable and decent health care for everyone. A healthcare policy is simply that. A low-end policy that costs $220 with a $10,000 to $15,000 deductible and a $35 co-pay is useless for most people. Even if you eek out the $220 a month how could you afford to use it? From personal experience I can tell you it doesn't work.
She seems like a genuine person. I guess it is possible for a republican, even a Bush family member, to have compassion and kindness. She might be nervous on TV, or maybe she gets emotional when talking about serious issues. I have a lot of respect for her. I would like to meet her and offer support.

Sometimes I despair for this country when I see heavily-armed, mindless, mouth-foaming teabaggers running around calling for violence and assassination of President Obama and all Democrats, and the stark ravingly insane and racist laws coming out of places like Arizona and South Dakota. But then I see how even someone like Barbara, who came from a privileged, cocooned background of wealth and power, can develop a conscience and a sense of empathy with others. There is still hope for America.
Amazed how the first daughter is able to think for herself. But I wonder if her background (being the daughter of W, a Yale alumnus & not a stellar student himself really. He admitted he was a c student while majoring in poly sci.)- helped her get into Yale. If she was a daughter of some average office worker or mechanic etc, would she have been able to get admission to an Ivy League school or would she have to settle for the local community college or state college ?
@jjlinert I made a typo in my last post in "political science". And I want to add that state schools and most community colleges have high standards in admissions and not inferior to Ivy League and other big name schools.
Here's how you get somebody interested in a career ... tell them what they can make (regardless of how good they are), who they have to work with, who they have to serve, etc. etc. Yeah, sounds real appetizing
It's amazing how Ivy League schools warp perfectly good minds: (
If healthcare is a RIGHT, that means other people are obligated to provide it. Either the doctor must provide it for free, or someone else has to pay for it. How does anyone have a right to take a service or capital from another? You Barbara, like your daddy, are an embarrasment to the republican party.
@gop4usa12 How do you know she`s a republican?? She sounds like a democrat to me, and that`s good, cause the fucking right-wingers in the republican party are no good sons of bitches!
I didn't say she's a republican. I said she's an embarrasment to the republican party. My underlying point here is that healthcare is NOT a right. It's like any other service or commodity. You get it when you pay for it. Anything else is a form of slavery. Those are just the facts you cannot deny.
Tell me: what the hell good are democrats? It's us on the right that pay the bills in this country while most of you democrats hold your hands out.
@gop4usa12 The republican party is an embarrasment to the world, and to itself. I`m sure Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would have been upset to see the direction their party took.Sarah Palin is a joke,the tea party is a joke too. The democrats are more in touch with the average americans than the republican party. The republicans had a huge chance to take both the congress and senate but they blew the senate by running with morons like O`Donnell. Delaware was in the bag for the GOP until she came
Instead of calling people morons, why don't you focus on the argument at hand? I want you to explain to me how it is; if healthcare is a right, how does it not force others into involuntary servitude? As far as I'm concerned; Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnell are freedom loving Americans and you have an attention disorder.
@gop4usa12 Well, nothing would please me more if you ran with people like Sarah Palin or O`Donnell cause none of them are electable. Picture Sarah Palin against Barack Obama. He`s gonna win in a landslide. Health care is a right that should be funded be the govnerment like they do in Canada, U.K, France and Australia. Teddy Roosevelt was the first president to try to get universal healthcare, and he was a republican. What happened to his party??
Teddy Roosevelt was a phony republican. I showed when he changed to the progressive party in 1912. I'm not here to defend everyone that calls themselves republicans. I'm here to define what a real republican is.
If you do in fact have a right to healthcare, where are the rights of those of us who have to pay into the system? Your problem is that you don't know what a right is. You think a right is a one-way street.
@gop4usa12 I pay a lot af taxes, but i also have to pay for my healthcare. If i had lived in Canada or Great Britain, i would have payed just the same amount of tax and got healthcare for free. You and i would have been better off with govnerment funded healthcare than what we have today, cause we pay just as much taxes as they do in Canada. I even have to pay thousands of dollars in property tax just for owning a big house, so it would be nice to get healh care for free!
Yes, we do pay too much taxes here, and it's only going to get worse. If you earn your own money and pay for your own health insurance, why do you want to give more to the governement so they can piss it away?
@gop4usa12 I was paying a shitload of taxes when Bush was president too. My taxes haven`t increased since Obama took office, so i`m not blaming Obama. Bush didn`t give me any taxcuts. He provided for the filthy rich, and ignored the middle class. I heard that the republicans didn`t wanna give the middle class taxcuts if Obama didn`t extend the taxcuts for the rich, so that proves my point. republicans doesn`t wanna lower my taxes! Obama wants to.
What do you mean Bush "provided for the wealthy?" They provide for themselves. And even though the rich pay the lions share of taxes, we all received the same kicker checks under Bush. Fact is: When "the rich" pay higher taxes; jobs get cut, prices go up, manufacturing moves overseas, and the need for gov't assistance programs increase. The wealthy already pay over half their income to government. How much is enough? Stop this class envy!
@gop4usa12 I think 50% is enough. But come on. Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Michael Jordan has been able to get filthy rich despite of the tax they pay. The margin is pretty good, and many of the filthy rich find loop holes and don`t pay anything at all-and still fire people and keep them on minimum wages. I`m sorry but i don`t feel sorry for the filthy rich like you and the rest of the republican party does. The republican party is a interest group for the rich. I care about the middle class
I surprised I got a straight answer out of you, rare for a lib. This is not about pitying the rich. It's about leaving as much money as possible in the economy rather than surrendering it to the government. The rich provide cures to diseases, innovation, and all the other things we take for granted in a free society. The government just takes. Speaking of greed, look at your own government that's constantly demanding more of us. Politicians are the greedy ones.
@gop4usa12 Taxcuts for the billionaires doesn`t leave money in the economy, cause they don`t spend it like the middle class. It`s more useful to fuel the middle class cause they`re the consumers! I`m sure you agree. The incredible thing about the republicans is that they NEVER fight for middle class taxcuts-the democrats do. That`s why i`m a democrat.
Divisive statements like "middle class" and "lower class" is the problem. When democrats talk about "fighting for the middle class," what they're really doing is dividing the nation. I expect a government that will protect the shores and borders from invasion and a few other tasks that's been laid out in the constitution. Let them set tax rate for all. No deductions, no sin tax. Just a flat rate across the board. And no more class warfare.
@gop4usa12 Flat tax is wrong cause poor people who pay small margins now, have to pay more with flat tax. The tax-rates we have now is fair cause you pay more if you`re rich, less if you`re poor!
Poor people don't pay any income taxes at all. Yet they receive the benifits of EIC, housing assistance, WIC, medicaid, and welfare. Those are benefits taxpayers aren't qualified for. And if you think the current tax rates are fair, why do you keep complaining about those who are wealthier than you?
@gop4usa12 I don`t complain about my taxes, but i think my taxdollars should pay for my health care too. I don`t think it`s fair that i have to buy my own health care when i pay tax to the govnerment!
The fact is, EVERYBODY makes this economy function. Without those farmers, factory workers, and all those other poor and middle class jobs, this economy collapses. So forgive me for not taking serious your implication that they play a more important role in things and us ordinary folk are trivial because we "pay" less.
Taxes need a goldilocks structure, not some sliding scale that gives the rich a handout. Poor don't pay income taxes because they are poor.
@gop4usa12 And i`m gonna repeat what i said. Bush didn`t give me any taxcuts. Maybe he gave me some pocket change, i don`t remember. But i payed a lot of tax under Bush, and he didn`t give me tax cuts.
@gop4usa12 My point is that i think it`s unfair that we get less for our taxdollars that what canadians do. They get free healthcare. What do we get for our taxdollars?? Two fucking wars and taxcuts for the billionaires? I would gladly pay my taxes if the govnerment payed for my healthcare, cause i would save thousands of dollars in premiums each year. You would too!
Let me define a "RIGHT" for you: A "right" is an act in which you're not forcing others into participation, except as a mutual agreement. You have a "right" to pursue your own healthcare as much as a doctor has a "right" to set his price with you for the treatment. Government does NOT have any right to set the terms of the transaction. Obamacare is slavery, and slaves don't have rights. Is that clear enough for you?
@gop4usa12 I don`t think The founders of the GOP like Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would have agreed either. It`s a RIGHT to get treatment when you`re sick regardless if you`re rich or poor!! 10.000 people die each year of lack of health care in America. That`s three 9/11`s!! I`m so glad that president Obama finally did what seven other presidents has tried to do-including republican presidents. The GOP were on the wrong side of history again!!
What Obama has done is turn us into slaves of the state. We're slaves because we're forced to pay into a system we have no control over and we're slaves because we'll have to come to a beaurocrat on our knees and beg for whatever health treatment we need. Again; how is healthcare a right if you have to compel someone else to provide it?
@gop4usa12 The tea party spoiled the senate race for the GOP, cause you ran with unelectable candidates like O`Donnell and the one in Nevada. You had both Delaware and Nevada in the bank until you decided to nominate unelectable candidates. I laughed my head off when you nominated tea party candidates in moderate states like Delaware and Nevada. And you`re the one with a attention disorder, cause you were the one who went after the first daughter for speaking her mind.
I can't be any prouder of the TEA Party movement in spite of not getting my way with some of the elections. What would it profit the conservative movement to bring in republicans that legislates like democrats? The failure with TEA Party candidates is that they couldn't get support from the RNC. But we will overcome just like we did with Reagan.
@Totaltwist ummm dude your proof that evolution doesnt exist , the bush family fucked your coutry up on 3 accounts : iraq war , 9/11 and the financial crisis , and you still trust them? thats retarded.
Barbara Bush is Correct, I don't have health care in Los Angeles Ca. My Uncle Stole me Inheritance, Angelus Temple is stealing my Book, Inventions, and Movie Ideas.
@jpeter4333 do people plan on getting hit by a bus? it's not one's right that others be forced to pay for funeral. Talk of it being a right is ridiculous. services of health professionals are just that-services. they didn't to through school, training, to be told they HAVE TO treat whomever demands their services. if socialized, folks could easily choose not to be in med. field, leaving lots less doctors for lots more patience. US has best healthcare because it's not been socialized , yet.
@shin0bi272 How are you paying putz, I work every day at what i do, Theifs all over the world, I bump into the worst. Matthew Ch 21 vs 13. Jesus Knoew matthew barnett was a low life doom man, not i until days too late. pay up big spender.
Anyone notice the beer sign at 1:32? It kind of makes the story a bit comical. -They have a difficult time getting drugs to the people, they have to carry, what is probably contaminated, water in plastic jugs, but they can go to the shack behind them and get a refreshing beer?
Say What!! Barbara Bush said that comment herself or Fox News paid her to say that. That stuck up rich little white girl is probably the smartest in the Bush family by masquing her dad's image. "No more raising tax. Read my lips"
She is right! All of the complaining about the Healthcare Bill is stupid as hell! Americans should demand more from their tax dollars not less! Politics has cured no one!
she's different from her daddy, but she sounds off...it's not that health care is a right, it's that health insurers are ripping people off from getting good health care, health insurance becomes a price gauger and they either price the poor out of what shoudl be affordable good health care or they take the poor's money while they can and deny them health care when they get sick, that's what sets me off and makes me DESPISE the health care industry...bunch of fat pigs just sucking money
RWers are going to throw her under the bus as a bleeding heart liberal. A Marxist, Socialist Nazi who wants to create death panels for grannie.
They will call her stupid! A brainwashed radical from college, travelling around like an elitist saving black kids in Africa instead of saving people back home!
Maybe you need a lesson in economics. A right is something you are born with. A privilege is something that you have access to. A right is the ability to speak out but that can be taken away by an overbearing dictatorial government usually with a bullet... A privilege is being able to walk into any hospital and get free health care regardless of your ability to pay. Maybe you should go take econ 101 again
@shin0bi272 What a ridiculous explanation. Your health is something you were born with, and disease affects your health. You think walking into a hospital is a privilege, I don't. It's not a consumer choice to go to the hospital. Jesus what's wrong with you people. And health care is not FREE, regardless of your ability to pay. It's paid for by private insurance premiums on you and me, and our government picking up the rest of the tab. You're paying over $1000 a year now for someone else. Think.
@jpeter4333 Theres a huge difference between choice and privilege. If i have a disease and I chose not to go to the hospital thats a choice. If i choose to go to the hospital and there isnt one near me then I dont have the privilege of going to that hospital do I? I didnt say it was free i said they'd treat you regardless of your ability to pay... there's a difference. You show me one person who isnt on medicare or medicaid that the government paid for their care. I bet you cant.
@shin0bi272 You're making my brain hurt. If you had a disease and didn't seek treatment, you're an suicidal. If you couldn't get to a hospital is impossible, because there are helicopters and ambulances. Privilege has nothing to do with anything. For-profit hospitals get a tax write-off on uncollected debts (gov. pays). Non-profit hospitals cite their uncollected debts in fund-raising efforts and to the government in arguing for higher Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement payments.
@jpeter4333 Privilege: A privilege is a special entitlement to immunity granted by the state or another authority to a restricted group, either by birth or on a conditional basis. It can be revoked in certain circumstances.
you are born with your rights you are granted privileges. you are not born with an MD degree and the ability to fix yourself so you must purchase a service from another person or group. That costs money and if you arent a communist you pay for it.
Good for her...however, her position as "President "of Global Health Corps is a wait and see one. There are plenty of existing groups she could work for. Is she doing this for herself? Is this part of the Bush family trend, handed success rather than earned? Unlike the Kennedy's, who had to work within an organization before starting their own (Robert Kennedy, Jr as example).
Of course the PR effect on Republican voters is useful. But is this another case of a spoiled kid slumming it?
@OhioDemocrat what health care is a right? philosophically that is just absurd. having health care requires knowing someone who can provide the service. it's not like oxygen which is readily available, or happiness, which one can pursue. How is it liberty if a doctor is mandated to give all the health care he/she can to every single sick-through his/her own doing even-person that demands it of him or her. while folks are free to be charitable, people can choose to not be doctors. then what?
@TruthDroveCove You act like Doctors wouldn’t be paid if health care was a right. What about the Dr’s Hippocratic Oath? Should we just let people die in the streets because of their unable to pay?
@OhioDemocrat Your argument is a false, strawman one. Hospitals today, because of doctors' oath do not deny services to uninsured life-threatended folks in emergency rooms. People aren't left to die in streets if they need medical services; medical services just are not free as they shouldn't be. The point is if services were free, or socialized, do you really believe that as many people would have monetary incentive to be doctors, leaving less doctors for more patients...
@OhioDemocrat , leaving long lines like as evidenced in Canada, England, etc., and do you believe there would be the same degree of innovation which has led the U.S. to be the leading destination by far for people around the world to receive rare highly specialized, life-saving medical services? Philosophically, the existence of free health care would take away deterrence (cost in health services) for folks to live as healthy a lifestyle as they otherwise would,,,
@OhioDemocrat ...if they didn't have fall back of doctors providing them free "crutch" throughout their lives for leading much less healthy lifestyles. Not to mention, Constitutionally, it is not government's right to force people to purchase anything! If I choose not to buy insurance, that IS my right per the Declaration of Independence: "liberty!"
health care is a privilege? being able to survive a disease is a privilege? not going broke over a disease is a privilege? reserved for whom? no, she is correct. if it is available for some, it must be available to all. i'm far from being a 20-something. i'm someone who recognizes how precious life is.
@Annie22203 yes its a privilege. If there's no doctor within 100 miles of you and you cant get to them before you bleed to death then who violated your "right" to health care? are you now guilty of a human rights violation for being so stupid as to get hurt too far from a doctor? Someone has to be punished for your death because someone violated your rights because you died... Who do we charge? See its a privilege... and besides if you walk in they will treat you even if you cant pay.
@shin0bi272 You're a twisted psychopath. Society, humanity are guilty for not providing health care to all. Location is NOT the issue. Punishment is not the issue either, except to conservatives who think punishment is the answer to all things. An authoritarian position to take. And again, walking in and getting treatment even though you can't pay is paid for by you and me in our premiums.
@jpeter4333 Ahh there now you got it right... in that other response you claim the government pays for it when people dont pay which is false. When people dont pay it drives up the costs for the treatments at the hospital... just like when people steal from a store they have to raise their prices. And location can become the issue and punishment is an issue if you want the government to dictate your rights to you. Go to cuba and speak out against castro... see how long you live.
@shin0bi272 See my answer above about hospital right offs, money the government isn't going to get, thus we pay for by lost taxes. The government doesn't dictate anything, unless you're a hospital or doctor or insurer. How sad for them. You're apparently referring to the gov dictating we all have insurance. Wow, how dictatorial. Why is this a problem, when conservatives demand people take responsibility for their health care, unless you're a freeloader. Wouldn't be an issue if you were insured.
@jpeter4333 Can you justify the cost of medical precedures ? Can you justify the salaries of physicians ? Hospitals don't treat you regardless of your ability to pay. John Kennedy passed a law because people were being turned away from emergency rooms because of their ability to pay. A law was passed that required them to STABILIZE a sick person not treat them.
@shin0bi272 Don't be mean to Castro, you couldin't speak against Bastista. He was dictoria, pro mafia, American puppet. Cubans were wise to bring in Castro. Bastista was even more corrupt despite being "capitalist".
Israel systematically kill and murders all the innocent children and women in Gaza by fighter jet and Chemical weapon and rest of the world watch the showbiz in TV. USA will support Israel's systematical killing and block aid no matter what they done, even USA needed to fight with the whole world. Iran's president told about the real Anti-antisemitism happened in Gaza with proof in TV , not the hypothetical holocaust or anti-antisemitism in Europe. Fox News owned by Israeli-American
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yet another 20 something who doesnt understand the difference between a right and a privilege. She should go read "the road to serfdom" or maybe something by Adam Smith before she starts pushing new "rights" on people.
@darby1673 I understand need just fine... you dont. Someone can need something to survive but that doesnt mean anyone HAS to give it to you. For instance you NEED to grow the fuck up and go read a book... but you wont. I would suggest "the road to serfdom" because thats whats going on in africa right now... dictators being propped up by our federal dollars are using that money to buy guns and exterminate their own people... hows your need now bitch?
@shin0bi272 You, like many others, exagerate the power of regulation and social safety nets. The road to serfdom is corporate power over our lives, and throwing us a few dollars for our work. Democrats have no plan to take over everything, or control everything. You don't understand policy, just extremism. The people vote, that is our power. You whiny losers must again wait your turn to take power and turn our retirement funds into dust, and crash the global economy. Thanks.
@jpeter4333 go talk to a person from the former soviet union and then tell me that. Even with huge corporations you still have the choice of which one to work for... not so under a centrally planned society. Their "policy" is to give the government more control! Or didnt you see barney frank tell that to a bunch of high school kids? He said "if you dont like whats going on in washington tell your friends to tell their friends to give us more power". Go look up FAS157
@jpeter4333 Government power has to be regulated so that it does not impose itself on the private citizen. The purpose of Big Government must be battling Big Corporations, not oppressing Small Companies or Private Citizens.
But how do we give Government power over Big Business without having that power used to negatively impact us? That's the question. Perhaps it is time for us to run for office ourselves, even if we don't want to.
@NutNapalm Good question and point. That's always been the juggling act. But small business is more directly effected by state and local laws. So there's a lot on the plate.
@NutNapalm please read the constitution before you post. the government does NOT have the power to battle big business. the purpose of capitalism itself is to promote big business. Unless you think that the government having all the money like in a communist society is best... then I suggest you move to cuba or N. Korea... oh and btw capitalism is the reason there's still a S. Korea!
40 years ago 1 in 20 jobs required a license to run... now its 1 in 3. So youve lost the right to start a flower shop or an interior decorating business or even a barbershop without getting some federal or state license.
@jpeter4333 tell the truth. democrats' fannie mae and freddie mac were root cause of recession. that's a fact. look it up folks- that actually care about the truth. and gov't social entitlements social security, medicare, medicaid are failing to be suffice-will have to be aided by option to invest some contributions into private sector. Yes, conservatives will regain control and get country back on right path. You know it...
@shin0bi272 you're an idiot, not to mention an asshole. it's people like you who make me wish you were born with nothing. then maybe you'd see that it's a basic RIGHT to be healthy.
and good for ms. bush. it's good to know her dipshit father hasn't had much influence on her.
@FryCookFromVenus There is no basic right to be healthy... you can be born sick and die shortly after that doesnt mean the doctor committed a crime. But if you have a right to be healthy like your claiming then that doctor violated your human rights by not keeping you alive. Its really funny when people who think they are better than everyone else post on the internet cause they just say the most vile shit they can think of to someone who they dont agree with... when in real life they wouldnt
@shin0bi272 who has the privilege to be healthy? why do rich people deserve to be healthy? why not poor people too? no, a doctory cannot be sued if he doesn't save a life (under most circumstances), just like the fire dept. can't be sued if they can't put out a fire, but having your house saved from a fire is right, so why not being healthy? what are the "rights" people deserve vs. the things that are privileges? please spell them out for us. oh, and you're still an asshole
@FryCookFromVenus Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness. If you are born with it (or in the case of a fetus would be born) then its a right. You arent born with a service like health insurance (though most get covered under their parents as soon as they get a social security number). To put it plainly... if the government can legislate it from you or to you its not a right.
@shin0bi272 we're not saying "health insurance," we're saying health care. there's a difference. just like you have the right to a basic education, life, liberty, etc. etc. etc. the constitution dictates that the govt. provide for the general welfare. as someone who's unemployed, you're voting for the wrong party. the republicans don't give a shit about you. you should watch something other than fox. educate yourself & you'll see why us progressives are on the right side of history
@FryCookFromVenus Oh and I dont have health insurance myself so please dont think im some insanely rich person who just thinks "let them eat cake"... Im an unemployed software engineer who cant even get a tech support job in this economy.
@FryCookFromVenus Oh yeah duh sorry I forgot... you also have the right to own the property you purchase, the right to worship whatever god you wanna worship where ever and whenever you want to worship that god, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to free speech (which we are all using atm) and all the other rights listed in the bill of rights. The bill of rights outlining, not all of our rights but the rights the founds though gov't should never touch
...yet another conservative who doesn't understand the difference between a right and a privilege...dude, you just answered to your own question but too dumb to understand it.
Wow. Very good for her! I'm impressed.

Amazed how the first daughter is able to think for herself. But I wonder if her background (being the daughter of W, a Yale alumnus & not a stellar student himself really. He admitted he was a c student while majoring in poly sci.)- helped her get into Yale. If she was a daughter of some average office worker or mechanic etc, would she have been able to get admission to an Ivy League school or would she have to settle for the local community college or state college ?
jjlinert 1 year ago 3
@jjlinert I made a typo in my last post in "political science". And I want to add that state schools and most community colleges have high standards in admissions and not inferior to Ivy League and other big name schools.

dodgerboy86 1 year ago
It's amazing how Ivy League schools warp perfectly good minds: (
If healthcare is a RIGHT, that means other people are obligated to provide it. Either the doctor must provide it for free, or someone else has to pay for it. How does anyone have a right to take a service or capital from another? You Barbara, like your daddy, are an embarrasment to the republican party.
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 How do you know she`s a republican?? She sounds like a democrat to me, and that`s good, cause the fucking right-wingers in the republican party are no good sons of bitches!
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
It's us on the right that pay the bills in this country while most of you democrats hold your hands out.
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 The republican party is an embarrasment to the world, and to itself. I`m sure Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would have been upset to see the direction their party took.Sarah Palin is a joke,the tea party is a joke too. The democrats are more in touch with the average americans than the republican party. The republicans had a huge chance to take both the congress and senate but they blew the senate by running with morons like O`Donnell. Delaware was in the bag for the GOP until she came
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
Instead of calling people morons, why don't you focus on the argument at hand? I want you to explain to me how it is; if healthcare is a right, how does it not force others into involuntary servitude? As far as I'm concerned; Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnell are freedom loving Americans and you have an attention disorder.
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 Well, nothing would please me more if you ran with people like Sarah Palin or O`Donnell cause none of them are electable. Picture Sarah Palin against Barack Obama. He`s gonna win in a landslide. Health care is a right that should be funded be the govnerment like they do in Canada, U.K, France and Australia. Teddy Roosevelt was the first president to try to get universal healthcare, and he was a republican. What happened to his party??
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
You think a right is a one-way street.
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 I pay a lot af taxes, but i also have to pay for my healthcare. If i had lived in Canada or Great Britain, i would have payed just the same amount of tax and got healthcare for free. You and i would have been better off with govnerment funded healthcare than what we have today, cause we pay just as much taxes as they do in Canada. I even have to pay thousands of dollars in property tax just for owning a big house, so it would be nice to get healh care for free!
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
Yes, we do pay too much taxes here, and it's only going to get worse. If you earn your own money and pay for your own health insurance, why do you want to give more to the governement so they can piss it away?
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 I was paying a shitload of taxes when Bush was president too. My taxes haven`t increased since Obama took office, so i`m not blaming Obama. Bush didn`t give me any taxcuts. He provided for the filthy rich, and ignored the middle class. I heard that the republicans didn`t wanna give the middle class taxcuts if Obama didn`t extend the taxcuts for the rich, so that proves my point. republicans doesn`t wanna lower my taxes! Obama wants to.
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
Stop this class envy!
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 I think 50% is enough. But come on. Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Michael Jordan has been able to get filthy rich despite of the tax they pay. The margin is pretty good, and many of the filthy rich find loop holes and don`t pay anything at all-and still fire people and keep them on minimum wages. I`m sorry but i don`t feel sorry for the filthy rich like you and the rest of the republican party does. The republican party is a interest group for the rich. I care about the middle class
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
Politicians are the greedy ones.
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 Taxcuts for the billionaires doesn`t leave money in the economy, cause they don`t spend it like the middle class. It`s more useful to fuel the middle class cause they`re the consumers! I`m sure you agree. The incredible thing about the republicans is that they NEVER fight for middle class taxcuts-the democrats do. That`s why i`m a democrat.
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
And no more class warfare.
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 Flat tax is wrong cause poor people who pay small margins now, have to pay more with flat tax. The tax-rates we have now is fair cause you pay more if you`re rich, less if you`re poor!
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
Poor people don't pay any income taxes at all. Yet they receive the benifits of EIC, housing assistance, WIC, medicaid, and welfare. Those are benefits taxpayers aren't qualified for. And if you think the current tax rates are fair, why do you keep complaining about those who are wealthier than you?
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 I don`t complain about my taxes, but i think my taxdollars should pay for my health care too. I don`t think it`s fair that i have to buy my own health care when i pay tax to the govnerment!
Yellyist 1 year ago
@gop4usa12
Seedofwinter 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 And i`m gonna repeat what i said. Bush didn`t give me any taxcuts. Maybe he gave me some pocket change, i don`t remember. But i payed a lot of tax under Bush, and he didn`t give me tax cuts.
Yellyist 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 My point is that i think it`s unfair that we get less for our taxdollars that what canadians do. They get free healthcare. What do we get for our taxdollars?? Two fucking wars and taxcuts for the billionaires? I would gladly pay my taxes if the govnerment payed for my healthcare, cause i would save thousands of dollars in premiums each year. You would too!
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
Is that clear enough for you?
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 I don`t think The founders of the GOP like Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would have agreed either. It`s a RIGHT to get treatment when you`re sick regardless if you`re rich or poor!! 10.000 people die each year of lack of health care in America. That`s three 9/11`s!! I`m so glad that president Obama finally did what seven other presidents has tried to do-including republican presidents. The GOP were on the wrong side of history again!!
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist
What Obama has done is turn us into slaves of the state. We're slaves because we're forced to pay into a system we have no control over and we're slaves because we'll have to come to a beaurocrat on our knees and beg for whatever health treatment we need. Again; how is healthcare a right if you have to compel someone else to provide it?
gop4usa12 1 year ago
@gop4usa12 The tea party spoiled the senate race for the GOP, cause you ran with unelectable candidates like O`Donnell and the one in Nevada. You had both Delaware and Nevada in the bank until you decided to nominate unelectable candidates. I laughed my head off when you nominated tea party candidates in moderate states like Delaware and Nevada. And you`re the one with a attention disorder, cause you were the one who went after the first daughter for speaking her mind.
Yellyist 1 year ago
@Yellyist

@taila1976
Maybe you should go take econ 101 again
shin0bi272 1 year ago
@shin0bi272 What a ridiculous explanation. Your health is something you were born with, and disease affects your health. You think walking into a hospital is a privilege, I don't. It's not a consumer choice to go to the hospital. Jesus what's wrong with you people. And health care is not FREE, regardless of your ability to pay. It's paid for by private insurance premiums on you and me, and our government picking up the rest of the tab. You're paying over $1000 a year now for someone else. Think.
jpeter4333 1 year ago
@jpeter4333 Theres a huge difference between choice and privilege. If i have a disease and I chose not to go to the hospital thats a choice. If i choose to go to the hospital and there isnt one near me then I dont have the privilege of going to that hospital do I? I didnt say it was free i said they'd treat you regardless of your ability to pay... there's a difference. You show me one person who isnt on medicare or medicaid that the government paid for their care. I bet you cant.
shin0bi272 1 year ago 4
@shin0bi272 You're making my brain hurt. If you had a disease and didn't seek treatment, you're an suicidal. If you couldn't get to a hospital is impossible, because there are helicopters and ambulances. Privilege has nothing to do with anything. For-profit hospitals get a tax write-off on uncollected debts (gov. pays). Non-profit hospitals cite their uncollected debts in fund-raising efforts and to the government in arguing for higher Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement payments.
jpeter4333 1 year ago
@jpeter4333 Privilege: A privilege is a special entitlement to immunity granted by the state or another authority to a restricted group, either by birth or on a conditional basis. It can be revoked in certain circumstances.
you are born with your rights you are granted privileges. you are not born with an MD degree and the ability to fix yourself so you must purchase a service from another person or group. That costs money and if you arent a communist you pay for it.

realitychckr 1 year ago 3
Good for her...however, her position as "President "of Global Health Corps is a wait and see one. There are plenty of existing groups she could work for. Is she doing this for herself? Is this part of the Bush family trend, handed success rather than earned? Unlike the Kennedy's, who had to work within an organization before starting their own (Robert Kennedy, Jr as example).
Of course the PR effect on Republican voters is useful. But is this another case of a spoiled kid slumming it?

@OhioDemocrat yes she was indoctrinated into socialist thinking very well... that is the only reason to go to college these days isnt it?
shin0bi272 1 year ago
@OhioDemocrat what health care is a right? philosophically that is just absurd. having health care requires knowing someone who can provide the service. it's not like oxygen which is readily available, or happiness, which one can pursue. How is it liberty if a doctor is mandated to give all the health care he/she can to every single sick-through his/her own doing even-person that demands it of him or her. while folks are free to be charitable, people can choose to not be doctors. then what?
TruthDroveCove 1 year ago
@TruthDroveCove You act like Doctors wouldn’t be paid if health care was a right. What about the Dr’s Hippocratic Oath? Should we just let people die in the streets because of their unable to pay?
OhioDemocrat 1 year ago
@OhioDemocrat Your argument is a false, strawman one. Hospitals today, because of doctors' oath do not deny services to uninsured life-threatended folks in emergency rooms. People aren't left to die in streets if they need medical services; medical services just are not free as they shouldn't be. The point is if services were free, or socialized, do you really believe that as many people would have monetary incentive to be doctors, leaving less doctors for more patients...
TruthDroveCove 1 year ago
@OhioDemocrat , leaving long lines like as evidenced in Canada, England, etc., and do you believe there would be the same degree of innovation which has led the U.S. to be the leading destination by far for people around the world to receive rare highly specialized, life-saving medical services? Philosophically, the existence of free health care would take away deterrence (cost in health services) for folks to live as healthy a lifestyle as they otherwise would,,,
TruthDroveCove 1 year ago
@OhioDemocrat ...if they didn't have fall back of doctors providing them free "crutch" throughout their lives for leading much less healthy lifestyles. Not to mention, Constitutionally, it is not government's right to force people to purchase anything! If I choose not to buy insurance, that IS my right per the Declaration of Independence: "liberty!"
TruthDroveCove 1 year ago
health care is a privilege? being able to survive a disease is a privilege? not going broke over a disease is a privilege? reserved for whom? no, she is correct. if it is available for some, it must be available to all. i'm far from being a 20-something. i'm someone who recognizes how precious life is.
Annie22203 1 year ago
@Annie22203 yes its a privilege. If there's no doctor within 100 miles of you and you cant get to them before you bleed to death then who violated your "right" to health care? are you now guilty of a human rights violation for being so stupid as to get hurt too far from a doctor? Someone has to be punished for your death because someone violated your rights because you died... Who do we charge? See its a privilege... and besides if you walk in they will treat you even if you cant pay.
shin0bi272 1 year ago
@shin0bi272 You're a twisted psychopath. Society, humanity are guilty for not providing health care to all. Location is NOT the issue. Punishment is not the issue either, except to conservatives who think punishment is the answer to all things. An authoritarian position to take. And again, walking in and getting treatment even though you can't pay is paid for by you and me in our premiums.
jpeter4333 1 year ago 6
@jpeter4333 Ahh there now you got it right... in that other response you claim the government pays for it when people dont pay which is false. When people dont pay it drives up the costs for the treatments at the hospital... just like when people steal from a store they have to raise their prices. And location can become the issue and punishment is an issue if you want the government to dictate your rights to you. Go to cuba and speak out against castro... see how long you live.
shin0bi272 1 year ago 3
@shin0bi272 See my answer above about hospital right offs, money the government isn't going to get, thus we pay for by lost taxes. The government doesn't dictate anything, unless you're a hospital or doctor or insurer. How sad for them. You're apparently referring to the gov dictating we all have insurance. Wow, how dictatorial. Why is this a problem, when conservatives demand people take responsibility for their health care, unless you're a freeloader. Wouldn't be an issue if you were insured.

To put it plainly... if the government can legislate it from you or to you its not a right.
shin0bi272 1 year ago
@shin0bi272 we're not saying "health insurance," we're saying health care. there's a difference. just like you have the right to a basic education, life, liberty, etc. etc. etc. the constitution dictates that the govt. provide for the general welfare. as someone who's unemployed, you're voting for the wrong party. the republicans don't give a shit about you. you should watch something other than fox. educate yourself & you'll see why us progressives are on the right side of history

@FryCookFromVenus Oh and I dont have health insurance myself so please dont think im some insanely rich person who just thinks "let them eat cake"... Im an unemployed software engineer who cant even get a tech support job in this economy.
shin0bi272 1 year ago
@FryCookFromVenus Oh yeah duh sorry I forgot... you also have the right to own the property you purchase, the right to worship whatever god you wanna worship where ever and whenever you want to worship that god, the right to keep and bear arms, the right to free speech (which we are all using atm) and all the other rights listed in the bill of rights. The bill of rights outlining, not all of our rights but the rights the founds though gov't should never touch

@shin0bi272
...yet another conservative who doesn't understand the difference between a right and a privilege...dude, you just answered to your own question but too dumb to understand it.
