As a beginner, i would find you speaking at the same time as signing very useful

Unfortunately as the word order in BSL is different from English it is very hard to speak at the same time. You can find a rough translation of this video in the link given in the more information bit at the top of this page.

@KateEllis85 hi, to speak and sign bsl is the hardest thing to achieve. if you want to learn bsl the best thing you can do is turn off your voice and think in pictures. as bsl is a visual language trying to speak at the same time can really confuse the signing and make it alot harder to learn!!

I'm doing a presentation on Compound signs for my level 3 and my head is swollen with the Linguistics of BSL, once it's broken down however (no pun intended) it's actually not that difficult, ha!
