Well I can honestly say that I am not the "average" country music fan. I'm a college aged African American. I think Taylor and Carrie do the most in my community (I go to an HBCU) to bring attention to country. But I'm a HUGE Reba fan and I really wanted her to win. She's done so much for country, but Taylor and Carrie are doing the most NOW. And of the two Taylor's the most popular. I also like Miranda too, I'm just talking about bringing attention to country music. So Taylor deserved it.
Why is everyone so upset that Taylor won. This award is not about who can hold the longest note or who is the better singer when it shouldn't matter. Taylor won because she connects with other people through her songs and has an emotion in her voice that stands her out. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN SING BETTER THAN HER AND WRITE SONGS LIKE SHE DOES. PUT UR MONEY WHERE UR MONEY IS. She deserves this award other awards yet to come.
all you people may not agree with taylor winning, but she does deserve it. she worked so hard to do what she does, and she puts her whole heart and soul into her music. she is a TRUE entertainer.

@sweetneverinnocent Really?! She didn't deserve ANY of them. Sure, I guess I agree with you that she didn't deserve the Female Vocalist of the Year, but she did deserve the other ones. 'Fearless' was a complete uproar in the country industry. Taylor Swift brought so much attention to the genre of country. She made a huge impact in the year of 2009. She deserved those.
Billy Currington has got to be the most underappreciated artist and Taylor Swift as the best female vocalist - I wonder how awkward everyone felt after her horrible live performances. The Vocalist awards are something that CANNOT be based on opinion - like everthing else - best video, album - its all opinion but this one - you can either sing on key LIVE without all the studio doctoring OR NOT - and everyone can hear the truth - weather they are honest enough to admit it is one thing
not mirranda she sings through her nose too much. martina carrie or carrie. i REALLLY like martina but 2009 i do not recall her music being as big as reba or carrie's sp between those to TOTALLY DONT AGREE WITH TAYLOR GETTING IT,

Even now it annoys me that Taylor won
I mean she is good, cute and will be round for a while
But she isnt a patch on Carrie/Miranda/Reb/martina
The whole awards were just about her .. entertainer of the year/ female vocalist ect! .. She was main source of joke in carrie and brads monolgues..
I wouldnt mind if it was for her talent but its not .. Just because Kayne made a fool out of her everyone feels they have to give her everything
Just stop and start appreciating the real talent ..
