This has to one of the most underrated films ever. It is superb from beginning to end, and made me feel such a wide range of emotions. Why is it not as well known as "Life is Beautiful?"
El desenlace¿? por llamarlo asi te deja con una series de incognitas y sentimientos. Este es el verdadero cine de arte el que genera sensaciones adversas al expectador .
Jeden z najlepszych filmów jaki kiedykolwiek widziałem. Śmieszny, wzruszający i dramatyczny obraz Holokaustu. Zakończenie - choć poniekąd przewidywalne - zwala z nóg. Film obowiązkowy.
The minorities of Romania, Jews, gGpsies, Hungarians et al. have taken Romanian songs and carried them in foreign lands: Paklestine-Israel, Western Europe, the USA.
Here we have Romanian songs and music STYLES (doinas, horas, sarbas).
I noticed Cine Iubeste Si Lasa; Rumania, Rumania and lyrics in Romanian.
As far as the train of life story: it's fiction.
during WWII, Romanian Jews went to Palestine; Hun Jews went to gas chambers; same for Gypsies.
It's just klezmer too me, I'm Jewish and I hear this kind'a music everywhere, it CAN'T be Romanian or other of cuz u caqn see influances, per example in the nigunim you cqan see polish influances but still it's jewish man...
I think the part about slower mental processes includes you in a very special way, I never heard a Romanian or a Gipsy singing nigunim but what a hell, you know it the best ;o)), laso 3,5 milion Jews were living in Poland for 8 centauries, not in the Balkans;-/
Doina, hora, sirba, joc: Romanian music incorporated within the Jewish musicians' repertoire, 'klezmer'.
Calling them 'Jewish' is ignorance at best, plagiarism in the worse case scenario. It's great we all enjoy the Romanian tunes, it's necessary to give credit to the proper country of origin of these songs...like other Jewish musicians who have no hang-ups about giving credit to Romania when playing Romanian music. See in my Favorites o few Romanian tunes played by truthful Jewish musicians.
The predominance is Romanian influence: doina, hora sirba joc..
Besides the Romanian music's beauty, the Jews of Romania lived AMONG the Romanians, as opposed to ghetto cities (Warsaw, Budapest) or ghetto villages (Russia, Ukraine).
In Romania the Jews were CITIZENS of the country, not a ghetto, or a separated entity.
Thus the absorbtion of Romanian music in the Jewish repertoires, later called klezmer.
I didn't know that about the jews of Romania. Now in New York they live in especific areas, or among everybody else? Are you related in any how to Romania?
The Jews of New-York are the largest community outside Israel proper.
There are Orthodox Szatmar Jews from Greenpoint (Brooklyn) coming from the Romanian Transilvanian village Satu-Mare (literally Big Village in Rom.) and integrated Jews, such as my colleagues at work (cosmopolitan).
Decent and evil people in this community as much as in any other.
I concentrate at the person's individual acts and/or words as opposed to the community s/he is from.
In Poland Jew were citizens too, many of little towns and vilages cnat exist w/o them (pre-war of course). It is true that romanian jews overtaked many from romanian music. i think its great.
PS.: I think the most numerous groups of datim (ortodox jews)in NY is Chabad(Ukrainian), Gur(Polish) and 3rd Szatmer (Romanian). But i can mistake. ד''ש
Satu-Mare means Big Village in Romanian; there are several Satu-Mare localities throughout the Romanian regions of Moldova, Wallachia and Transylvania.
The Satu-Mare the Szatmar Jews came from is from Transylvania.
it's a so funny film, actors are goods, characters sympathics & a little bit "crazy": -), i saw the movie in french, twas great , balkan music is wonderful ! Well done

Once again for people with slower mental processes. Put on You Tube the key words (separately):
doina, hora; sirba, joc.
Being in denial of reality won't change reality.
This is Romanian music "borrowed" by Jews and Gypsies.
Credits needs to be given to Romania for this being Romanian music or else it's intellectual theft.
It would only confirm the stereotypes that the Gypsies and the Jews are thieves.
Interestingly to hear the old ROMANIAN song now Israeli anthem put on YT:
Cucuruz .
