Everyone, please don't fight. I live in NYC & I've seen people from an elderly man who lost his wife to illness & home to a married father of four w. a 4th on the way who once had a six-figure job. It hurts me to see anyone in pain for any reason but it's really up to each of you to discern who to help or not. No matter how small or great the generosity... from someone putting something into this man's hat to someone who gave a helping hand after the tragedy, love & compassion are to be revered.

@DarknessInLight1 The homeless can only eat so many meals a day. They can take money and save it to better their circumstances, rent a room so they can rest or shower, buy things they need. If ten people a day offer meals that is no help. I know. I work with homeless people. The majority of them are not on drugs and alcohol but have to pay the price for those who are. Besides, those who are addicted are sick. They need help too. You never know how can reform.

You got homeless ppl who went to med or grad school. Then went skid row though. Their will be moments in your life when you feel you are no different from this guy.
