I would have enjoyed this video if the guy who was filing would just shut up, sounded cocky and annoying. " I guess I put us on the right spot"... A little self promotion going on here. Hit the mute
For those of you that have never fished 1000' to 1500' it may not seem sporting using an electric reel. It's not so much about fighting the fish as it is in finding the fish, especial the big ones. When I first started I was hand cranking a reel with mono up from 1000 feet. You didn't know what, of if, you had until the hook set came up. We pull up some amazing things with the electric reel like 60 pound amberjack, 80 pound grouper and 700 pound sharks.
The reel in the video is a Lindgren-Pitman S1200 which I borrowed from a friend. Very nice with an auto stop feature on the windup. Out of my budget at $4000.
I use the Elec-tra-mate 940XP with a penn senator 10/0 reel. Very good bang for the buck. Not the fanciest setup but I've pulled up a lot of fish including a 80 lb grouper and a 500lb shark.
@FPYCRUGBY lol do all the time we yak out baits from the beach for shark that far only one way to bring it back in reel reel reel and reel some more, I dont think its as sporting to use electric reels unless your old lol!!!!!!
@studdgage i don't mean if you have a fish on, if you have a fish on, fight the fish, but if you have to reel up 1200 feet of line without a fish, it gets old
