The patient is actually *dying* to drink water so when he sees water, he panics. People often mistake it for fear of water hence the previous name: hydrophobia and its new name: rabies (madness). They often salivate because they are unable to swallow their own saliva.

@Dragnoxz Uh, no actually, there's no cure for rabies. There's a vaccine but it's purely prevention. If you catch a case early enough, yes you can prevent it, but once you start showing clinical signs, you're going to die. It's 100% fatal.

While certain individuals are incredibly greedy (for example, we've had the technology for hybrid vehicles for far longer than we've actually had the cars, but the original plans were bought and stored away by a gas company for obvious reasons), other people will find the technology eventually. The problem with curing things like cancer or rabies it that they're so ridiculously complex and damaging that it's just hard to counteract.

The basic difference between atoms of different elements is just the number of protons in said atom, so theoretically, we could add or remove protons to change one element into another. We could, for example, take atoms of mercury and rip a proton off to make gold. But the problem is that things that work in theory don't always work in practice. And Googling isn't really research. You'd have to be in the field.

I believe it takes about 15 years from the moment a person creates a hypothesis to the point where the drug has been tested and is out on the market. It's long but it's necessary. As it is, some of these drugs need to be recalled even after that because they're doing something they weren't meant to do.

If you could spread it from human to human it would already have wiped out the worlds population i think haha and usually a rabies victim isnt overwhelmingly aggressive like infected from 28 days later.
