Saying that modern American sports cars can't take corners is like saying the Brits won the revolution, it's just false. Corvette racing had to DEtune their engines bfr being allowed to compete with the so called other world class cars, if Europe has such potent cars why can't they keep up? Btw this whole argument has nothing to do with the vid haha.
@bighunt08 i am a corvette fan but the argument of detuning power is kinda silly..thats just advertising mumbo jumbo, they had to detune power because the class they chose to run in has a power restriction to keep costs down.
Europeans often talk about how unsophisticated American sports cars are but they always pull their conclusions from something they saw on one of their homegrown tv shows. Corvettes had active suspension in the late 80's bfr Europe did, the b2k hit 250mph long bfr Europe did. Ferrari used designs from Cadillac to build their new sports cars.
In scare of reopening a now 10 month old argument, why would u even bother listening to a guy as biased as "joaqinveyron"? He even uses the name of what is now the worlds second fastest prod. car in his name.
AT $500.00 a pop for the rear tiers what's the point in that and where's the fun in it? Standing still and smoking off your rubber is gay to me since any car can do it. The fun starts when you take your foot off the brake or in this case the clutch and you peal out so hard that your wheels smoke up and the force of acceleration pins you hard in your seat.
This car is rubbish! If you love torque, why then this car??
American cars, in general, are rubbish. No redeeming feature. They don't have a problem with power or size. That's what Americans never have. Always big (and fat).
But these cars have a problem with performance, sophistication, handling, quality, style, driveabilty, technology, safety, ...
you must be the dumbest fuck alive. The 2nd fastest production car around Germanys famous nürburgring track is a corvette the 1st is a viper. Every other car looses. Ferrari Enzo, lamborgini, Porsche carrera gt, Nissan GT-R. corvette fucked them all up. "No redeeming feature?" Aside from the fact they are ding resistant and get 32Mpg HWY its called performance you dumb shit. Go Buy A BMW. year for year starting in 92 the vette will fuck it up on any track. Research before you type, Please!
@bronxboyXXX Are u fucking kidding me, Billy Bob??? This American underengineered rubbish of a car, 95 Corvette LT1 6 , doesn t even appear in the list of the TOP 30 fastest production cars around Germany s Nürburgring. Check wiki or any other sort of reliable source.
Or are you talking about the fastest oldtimer in the world?? Hahahaha.
the corvette is not big or "fat". it is wide for better handling in turns and tight corners and it is also low to the ground..it has tons of torque and power for its day too..also the newer vettes such as z06 and zr1 compete with the expensive exotics at less then 1/2 the price
@Reservoirdogs12 Sorry for that. But don't be disappointed. Sure, you will find the one or the other way to build up your ego again, if you have any at all.
@joaquinveyron Do you even listen to yourself when you talk? All that semen that has been pumped up your ass has backed up into your brain and is coming out your mouth!
@joaquinveyron Again, what the the hell are you talking about? What kind of fag runs around calling people "Billy Bob"? Better yet, have you actually driven any American sports car or are you basing all of this off of what you see on television? You are just some sexually confused 12 year old who feeds off of slamming cars he is not even old enough to drive and enjoy. For a 90's sports car, GM did a pretty damn good job offering a fairly fast, reliable, and affordable car for middle class USA.
@joaquinveyron The assumption that this car can't take a curve is where you fuck up. the 84 C4 vette was ranked #1 for road holding, the 85 (which was raised) tied with Porsche & newer models kept getting better. if you knew anything you would know vettes were taking all of the titles in the late 80's. Porsche, Lotus and many other competitors couldn't touch the vette So The competitors got together and banned the Corvette from competing against them & why many don't know about the C4 today.
@joaquinveyron it means griping around a curve fool. 1G of lateral grip with almost 50/50 weight distribution is impressive even today. You can look this up too. The 1988-1989 Corvette Challenge series came about because, in the Sports Car Club of America's (SCCA) Showroom Stock GT category (basically exactly what you get off the showroom floor) Corvette had no challengers. BTW this was prior to the 375Hp 1991 ZR-1 (AKA) King of the Hill & why today's top dog corvette is again called ZR1.
@joaquinveyron Clearly you don't know shit about corvettes. You should really educate yourself. learn about how the ZR1 & two L98 powered C4s broke world endurance records that stood for 50 years which Porsche , Audi & mercedes benz tried at and failed again & again. also Google "Corvette ban from SCCA" or ill provide many links if you like.
@bronxboyXXX Hahahaha, the links you provided me don't give any info on what you claimed. Also when I google "Corvette ban from SCCA" I don't get a shit, besides the facebook page which is probably written by somebody as ignorant as you :-).
"endurance records that stood for 50 years which Porsche , Audi & mercedes benz tried at and failed again & again. "
The weed that you are smoking must be excellent :-).
On the FB page the C4 is described to have a rigid suspension :-). Yes, compared to the other chewing gum suspensions cars in the US are normally equipped with :-).
"(SCCA) Corvette had no challengers"
SCCA is Sports Car Club of America. Ok here you have cholera racing against plague. Try racing categories of the FIA next time.
Let's put it this way, for an American attempt to build a sports car, the C4 is not entirely useless.
Don't get too angry now. I am just pulling your leg a little bit. I guess despite objective and quantitative performance figures there is something you would call different tastes in motoring. And you definitely have different preferences in the US to those in Europe. And I am just making fun of it a little bit. So according to American preferences the Vette certainly is a proper sports car (and I am not being ironical here :-) ).
@joaquinveyron No Brit is objective especially not J. Clarkson. Hes absolutely talking out his ass with quotes like Americans having problems making cars go around corners. I just proved to you they don't & regarding fuel consumption Ferrari isn't even close. Also the "leaf springs" are transverse & do not look or function anything like an ox carts & the body is not made of "plastic" it's fiberglass which in many ways is similar to carbon fiber. The man is just full of shit.
Ah, yes? By making a quote saying that the C4 has some road holding. That s it??
"g fuel consumption Ferrari isn't even close. "
Since when is it about fuel consumption when it is about sports cars??? While ignoring the exact consumption of the C4, I d posit that the C4 isn t known for going down the road on a sip of fuel either :-).
@joaquinveyron If you're going to compare American vs Europe why compare a mustang vs a Lotus, an Cadillac escalade & H2 vs a range rover & a stupid Chrysler 300C to a BMW M5 when their are other more worthy competitors. Did the Ford GT, Cadillac STS or CTS V, Saleen, SCC, Tesla, Jeep or the Hummer H1 totally slip his mind? the only legitimate track car he drove was the Z06. The rest are more or less gimmicks. Also did you know this man ranked the corvette ZR1 the best sports car of 2009?
@joaquinveyron 1.The Ford GTs parts are from America, the engine comes out a pickup truck and the car has been totally re-engineered. 2. Cadillac's STS outperforms it's rival; the Mercedes-Benz E Class for 20K less. 3. The Tesla goes way more than 80 km! J. Clarkson was even forced to retract that statement. 4. The Jeep Wrangler outperforms the Discovery , LR3 and RR Sport in all conditions. 5.The H1 diesel gets 10/ 16 Mpg where as the Land rover Range rover gets 12/ 17! You Fail.
@joaquinveyron 80K is not even a true representation of how far it would go on a track at open throttle. The true day to day figure is closer to 402k & you will get close to 50K more if you don't gun it all the time. & That's an H2 Dummy!
Look, I have 0 tolerance for immaturity. Stop with the Top Gear post or I'm going to block you. The show is extremely deceptive. It often exaggerates, falsifies & has been caught sabotaging test like with the Tesla.
@joaquinveyron Oh yeah & not only do the H1 outperform the Land Rover Range rover at every off road task, they're Fucking Cool! You roll up in a Range rover & ill take the H1 & I bet you I get more rock star status than you anywhere we go. Nobody will even notice you driving next to me.
@joaquinveyron The ZR1 is a bad ass but so is the Z06. You can't objectively argue about the Z06s harsh ride and then bring a Lotus to race against a 4 seater stang. There is no precedent. American cars are some of the safest tanks you can sit in.
Style is subjective but even Jeremy Clarkson admits that American cars have never had a problem with style.
If by drivability you mean driving like a cheap econobox, they're not that. They're intentionally made to feel rigid and composed.
Handling is good on some and not good on some others. Just like cars from Europe.
And you don't have the slightest idea how much technology goes into these things.
Just shut up.

Ford GT is this good because most of its parts/engineering is from Europe.
Cadillac STS is rubbish. It is like big ship on chewing gum.
Tesla is no big achievement. Max v=200 km/h and it is out of juice after 80 km.
Saleen, you can't compare it to a proper sports car.
Jeep, not comparable to a Range Rover
Hummer H1 is rubbish unless you want to drive a car that weights more than Jupiter and consumes slightly more than Saudi Arabia has as oil reserves.
