  • Deacon is definitely not overrated. He is generally regarded as one of rock's premier bassists. He was equally adept at both pick and finger technique. Under Pressure was a classic example of his precision pick playing. He could have as easily used his fingers but had the musical scope to realize that the sound and feel of the pick attack was perfectly suited for this song.

  • Beautiful guitar! that pickguard is nice, and loved the G octave (3 and 5) in the 2nd chorus lol

  • how do you get that tone, and how much do you use of each pickup, e.g 90% on the bridge, because u completely nailed it

  • john deacon would be very proud of you

    excellent job

  • you should make a Beatles' cover

  • This bass line is damn good! Deacon is very underrated player!

  • Nice Work ... Is That an Roger Waters Signature ?

  • @tiagojsky Different Pickguard if it is cos the Waters is all black lol

  • Nicely done man! I'm doing a cover of this song, playing all the instruments, but down a whole step. This is a great help picking out the right notes! Thanks.

  • That was perfectly flawless :O Timing was so good!

  • I thought I've seen John playing this on flashiolet at fret 12, with the intro riff on a concert. And I've played that same on my own, and it sounds great.

    But this is great also!

  • @mthl1 So does this man, but it can be played on 7th fret G and D strings

  • ice ice baby... had to say it. you know when ice ice baby first came on the radio I thought nice one.... some epic queen. it was a bit of a let down once the first few bars were played out, I thought wtf is this? good playing coppolabass!

  • where do you get your tabs? or do you play by ear?

  • @Doddlebop4 I used the "Queen Bass collection" book, but the rest are played by ear. Thanks

  • another great bass cover ;).

  • I just heard this song in the movie " It's kind of a funny story" and I searched it on Youtube and found this ! Thanks pal. :)

  • @deadlyblue65 Not at all, you may only need to have a bass with a narrow neck but this cannot prevent you from playing Bass

  • @deadlyblue65 Absolutely NOT !! I have no large fingers by the way.

  • Thank you so much! I've been trying to boost the bass on my computer to hear the bass line to this song but couldn't. You've helped me out alot!

  • I should steal this bass line and make a shitty rap song!

  • Dude you're awesome!! Very cool! I LOVE Queen and you do them proud:)

  • ice ice baby!!!

  • amence

  • amence

  • OMG i wish i could play the bass like that, so wonderful :D

  • I was looking for Vanilla Ice's bass line to Ice Ice Baby and for some reason this came up. Oh well, I guess I'll keep looking.

  • do you have tabs for this? I can only learn up to the interlude. I can't learn the end :[

  • Que bien!! 5 stars

  • very good

  • dude, i love your queen covers

is this recorded directly to a pc by the way?

  • So often I have focused on the bass line in Under Pressure. But I never saw it close up like in this video! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • Nice...5*****!!!

  • moons gay

  • Excellent!

John Deacon played the most amazing bass lines in rock!

  • are you, John?

  • You're fantastic!

  • grandissimo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:47 - when you slide down to hit that low A! Musical orgasm mate!!!!

  • @LeoFernando1980 Slides are good

  • Fantastic <3

  • I began 3 months ago to study bass, and I´m a big fan of queen,so, PLEASE, tell me where can I find the partitures or tabs of their songs. I live in Argentina, and there´re not too much places to look for. Tx

  • solo busca en internet por (cancion) bass tabs , bassmasta es una pagina donde hay muchas tabs para bajo pero si no encuentras existen mcuhos lugares de donde sacar [te lo digo en español porque como vives en argentina supongo quer hablas español]

  • A little Google goes a long way.

  • bassmasta(dot)net/

  • good job.

  • I've seen most of your videos, you do Deacy proud!

  • I've played the violin for years and have am going for my Grade 10 RCM.

I'm deciding to pick up on another intrument, my Musician uncle suggested the fretless bass.

It makes sense seeing as the layout of the fingerboard and strings is the same, but will I be able to play Rock/Pop songs on a fretless?

ie Paul McCarteny Bass Lines :D

    Responses appreciated!

  • Of course you could play pop and rock songs with a fretless! Check out Tony Franklin...

  • Dude! Do No Doubt!!!!

  • @Coppolabass i got the same bass ass you is it a percussion? with a glass pick guard? if so excellent bass

  • u can of course... u will do great since u probably have a grest ear for music after having played violin

  • Hey, I started out playing with a violin, then I went to a school that only had band so I switched to electric bass. Easy switch, that is after you learn the notes in a different clef. but fretless you can play anything just as if you have a fret bass. Its just a bit more challenging. Usually professionals use fretless because they have had more experience with learning where the notes are. But, if your good at hearing music then you would know if your doing it right/wrong.

  • @iman1357 ye you can play rock and pop on a fretless it just get a bit of that country bass sound, but it is much harder to play on a fretless instead of a fretted bass but it might will get easier for you sense you are already used to a fretless instrument, my advise would bee to buy a fretless bass whit marked "frets".

Really sorry for my fucked english.

  • @iman1357 You can also play the early Elvis songs on fretless (just like the upright basses).

  • @iman1357 Sting sometimes played a fretless in The Police, I think Message In A Bottle and Walking On The Moon were both on fretless, possibly Roxanne too, and they're easy basslines as well :)

  • Awesome job. I feel inspired.

  • You played it fine!

Not sure what brendn1 problem is. Maybe doesn't play the bass or know his ass from a hole in the ground.

  • and you can do better?

  • i'm don't mean to bother anyone with my comment i'm just saying that it's not fully correct, and yes i do play bass and i can do better, i might even upload a video playing the song, i'll let you know when i upload it, to clear any doubts

  • your mistakes: 1:55

    and

2:56 you skiped a 4 beats, you kind of hurried that part of the song

  • This is the best of quite a few illustrations of how to play this song on You Tube. The sound is great, the shot is great, and the playing is very good. Thanks - I found this very helpful.

  • It sounds like your not even playing like your just acting while playing the song...

    It's that good!

    5/5

  • ;) awesome

  • on bass tabs for this song it never seems to go past 1 minuite 4 seconds it just stops there so its just the first part why ?

  • John Deacon's best work ever!

  • wow your tone is great

  • hi : )

amazing bass cover, your a bassist and sure you know what to do... What are you meant to do when you have blkisters on your playing fingers? thx :)

  • You have to cope with them until your fingertips are hard enough to run through the strings suffering no pain...

Have a rest when you start feeling pain, having blisters is a common thing at the very begining of bass playing.

    Well, thats what I did...

  • thanks very much : )

  • or you can make it simple and speed the process up by buying a really cheap chinese acoustic metal string guitar and hold the strings down till your fingers bled... I have no blisters at all but that's cause I'm just learning, I switched from rhythm guitar to bass guitar cause I'm better with the beat than just strumming. When I strum down six strings it just doesn't feel right :s

  • I have an really cheap Chinese acoustic guitar and it really has a horrible sound as if out of tune all the time. I only have it since 2 months and my fingers really hurt didn't get blisters but came very close to it Even tough it has bad sound, Still you can practice fingering on it. I just didn't want to spend 500 on guitar and than find out that's its too difficult to learn or that I get bored with it after a week. btw what guitars are good but reasonably priced

  • @ztarrfect

you want to get a Yamaha, Jay Turser, or a Taylor

    the Taylor is about 300

Yamaha and Jay Turser is $150 or less

  • @MikroBadass Thanks for advice dude :)

  • I used to always get blisters on my playing fingers. I agree with Coppolabass. Just rest when your fingers hurt. You'll begin to learn that you can go for longer between pauses, and then your fingers won't blister.

  • vanilla ice fails

  • @JIMAAAAAAH yeah he does

  • Muito Bom!! Parabéns.....

  • awesome!!

  • One of the greatest bassline of all time. And I agree with you, Coppolabass. A great bassline isn't how fast you play or how complicated you can play it. It's a simple, yet catchy bassline that makes it great. Now if we can convince Vanilla Ice that.

  • Nice, nice no doubt. :P Keep rocking. Queen forever. :)

  • badass :)

  • Great playing, and I love your tone. Your version is much better than mine. I barely learned the song, but It is still a great bassline. Nice work with it.

  • L'hai modificata vero? non si suonerebbe così...

  • I dont see how this bassline is considered to be so awesome. I looked at some top 50 list, and this was ranked 1 so I thought it would be awesome... Yeah.. Let down. Especially after seeing the other songs on the list that were better.

  • yeah, it is great ! did u expect to see a complicated bassline ? no, it's so great cause it's so simple and perfect ! i'm a beginner at playing bass and i think this is a great bass, it's gives me the shivers every time i play it !

  • A great bass line is not a that line full up of chops, high speed runs and so on, it as a line that evreybody wants to learn and play. It´s nearly the same if you´re planning to design a logo; the goal is to create something that people desire it, not the most sofisticated design ever made.

  • You said it! :)

  • awesome

  • Very nice mate well done

  • simple but fantastic bassline

  • I can play this i pplay a fender squier

  • bUEN intento, no más..........

  • amazing !

    you are so cool.

  • first of all, you're awesome, excellent!

second, do you have the tab for what you're playing? if so, can you give it to me? the tabs i've found are far from reliable, and you're playing's perfect

    thank you

  • Great job, one of the best versions on YOUTUBE,

  • hey how do you get the song w/o the bass part to it cause I wanna play the bass part along w/ the song just like this guy.

  • I used the official sheet music and a close listening to the song.

  • oh but how come I couldnt hear the bass that's in the song but rather your bass?

  • Maybe hits every note spot-on!

  • or if it's being played on computer he could've turned the bass down

  • Helppppppp...

Do all bass guitars sound like this....im getting one and i want to play music like this...and im wondering what guitar i should get.....and also what guitar do you have?

  • Many basses have similar sound, but others sound pretty different. If you are going to buy ( or get) your first bass and you like Queen music or similar, a Fender Squire is a very good option, Maison is also a good bass to start with. If you are looking for a modern sound, try Cort or Warwick. Good luck !!

  • I might get a Encore or something. Cause i also like the Sex Pistols.

But i dont want anything like £200 or so as its my first guitar

  • Actualy......Now im getting a Squier Precision Bass :D

  • I´m sure you will love that bass. Nice choice :))

  • Thank you :D Well i might get it if i dont find a cooler one but.....Is a P-style Bass the same?

  • it´s close, but I´d trust in Squire electronics more than in any other P-style based instrument. Not to mention the wood...

  • Really helpful man, I had no idea he played octaves at all during the song. The slides are well pronounced and sound great. Beautiful job.

  • Suppppppppp magnifique

  • whoa nice man!!

    hey could you send tabs?

cause i looked up the wrong ones i guess

    yours sounds soo much cooler

    thanks

    ROUGE<3

  • Very nice man.

    Your bass is nice to.

  • whee can i get these tabs?

  • Google it ...

    Or use your Ears

  • nice!!

  • Bueno a ver si me madas los acordes porfa

  • is a PLAYBACK

  • En absoluto. Escucha con auriculares y te darás cuenta. De todos modos, no hay necesidad de hacer playbacks, no me dedico a ello.

  • cool! i like it! ive seen others but so far yours is the best!! keep it up! :)

  • Heyhey, is that a Phil Lynott Fender P? (minus the maple neck)

    Nice job!

  • No it isn´t, it´s a Precision Deluxe in which I changed the gold anodized pickguard for the mirror one.

    Thanks for the comment !

  • YEEEAAA!!!!!

  • perfect! so professional.

  • This shows that even a simple riff can have a great Groooove!!

  • I think he uses his thumb, See Queen Live at Wembley

  • woooou very well congraturations

  • best bassline ever, the whole song had cool bass in it, love it

  • could you make a vid of sweet emotion?

  • i hav to use a pick in the intro cause my fingers are retarded lol

  • John Deacon used a pick live, I think he also recorded it with a pick because of the sound. It´s a matter of time, try using your fingers, be patient, and you´ll see results shortly. Remember "walk before you run"

  • Wow thanks i listened to your advice and now i got it down only took about an hour maybe

  • nice !! :))

  • What note should I tune the guitar to

  • It´s the standard tunning, E,A,D,G

  • Thanks, again very nice playing but I bet you got even better...

  • where can I find the tabs. Nice playing dude, very smooth and lots of changes...

  • haha it's actually John deacon.

  • great job. this is my favorite bass song ever.

would be sick in rock band

  • Under pressure. F T W!!! 5/5

  • i just learned how to play this song. Its not that hard, but keeping the beat is a bitch. Good job i rate it 4.5/5

  • This is ne of my all time favorite songs! I never get sick of it. So much buildup and emotion in this song. I always thought that Bowie would have been great fronting Queen after Freddy's untimely death. Nice Playing and Very Nice song.

  • oh, i so agree! my fav song of all time...you can't get any better than QUEEN and DAVID BOWIE for me! and YES...so much build up and emotion in this song! i've described it as a musical orgasm before...lol...
