You can still get private life insurance, only the provisions in the bill will protect you from skyrocketing costs, make sure people with pre-existing conditions get coverage, and protect you from having your claims denied or getting cut off when you do get sick.

There would have been many more people attending but this meeting was originally only announced by email to "Cardin constituents". The announcement said RSVP. Those who responded received a reply saying "space is limited... in accordance with fire regulations... no standing room available".

Outside, nine out of ten are opposed to government controlled health care.
