i thought the were suppose to be a dance couple....he was just swinging her ass around.....guess all it takes is a flashy shiny shirt and a chick with looks and flexibility and 39 spins to get dope...dookie....i've seen chancletas with more soul than that!!!!!
I'll say it again, everyone who danced was incredible & it was an honor to judge & it is a pleasure to see how salsa has grown & evolved. Even if for myself, it sometimes goes in directions that I find are not my style. But the passion, work and desire to keep taking it to places its never been is truly appreciated. Thanks!
Just for the record, there was not ONE BAD DANCER in the whole competition, so it wasn't really a matter of who wasn't good, it was more of who had "just that much more" & exceeded the already high bar that night.
and we we took it very seriously because we DO know every single one of them and the work they put in it; and ALL OF US at that table have been in their very same shoes, so the most important thing and the ONLY thing that was in it for us, out of empathetic respect, was to give our fair and honest OPINIONS (don't forget it is a COMPETITION decided by experienced JUDGES) even if it seemed brutal for some.
What the judges are looking at??? , are they are fooled? Or sleeping?? Or some one is friend of one specific judge there so he let it go!!!!, how can they give a first place to this couple?, this is not salsa maaaan!!!, this is Ballroom or Ballet !!! dance at dance with the stars ballroom, but not in a salsa club and then you call this a salsa dancing!!!!!
It is very sad to see that Now those days the salsa competitions are judge by local judges ruling over International judges decisions and their solid opinion of the dancers when they watch every aspects and moves versus just get tricks with their popularity, they dont get fooled by the dancers just like that!!!, these international judges are well experienced dancers in the past and they are multi disciplines professional judges and who had al long resumes of dancing careers.
And it is sad when the judges judge as a personal manner, versus neutral manner, due to some how of conflict of business interests, or having sympathies because of being a partner with the competitors in the past or danced with in the same team in the past. Fair judging shall be ruled by professionally hired judges totally new professional dancers judges from different part of the country
or the world who they dont know each other and has no ties whats so ever between them, and who does not have any conflict of interests or any friendship or sympathy or a fun of somebody, or had grouches on some one, or being from the same dance company, or tied to the competitors whats so ever,
and that is why the valid ground Salsa completions shall be done in different part of the world or different part of U.S. or in a neutral city, where there is no ties or friendships or business is involved with the competitors. And that I will call it a valid ground of salsa completion.
With what I saw in theses Salsa competitions in Stevens youtube clips making lot of Salseros totally loosing interest watching anything has to do with Los Angels Salsa competitions in Los Angeles only.
Talarjoseph, I love that you are so passionate about the purity of salsa but I have to say that your idea of "international judges" is very romantic. Meaning, that WE ARE a part of that same International community that you are talking about, we just happen to all live in L.A. - it's not being from another country that makes us more professional or know more, as all of us at that table have danced, worked, taught, performed and are respected in dance commmunities around the globe
for at least an average of 10 years between all of us, just in salsa. Obviously introductions at a competition need to be short enough to get the jist of our experience, but our background and experience goes beyond what you are assuming. Plus, those same "international" judges were part of the same growth of salsa that we were involved in, it was probably during the same time you were still in high school, so you couldn't possibly be familiar with us or the history of the salsa community at
that time. So as far as having some sort of conflict of favorable business interest, or sympathy or favoritism - I think I can speak for all of us at that table that there is no such thing in this point in our careers. The salsa community is so small, it is impossible not to know any or be more than acquaintances with any of the dancers that competed (it would be hard even for "international judges") and quite frankly there is NOTHING to gain. It really is just as simple as we have experience
Well salsa is evolving and it has implemented ballroom, jazz, ballet and some have fused hip hop, tap, and other dances i don't even know why people criticize they wanna keep dancing barrio style i bet if you look at cristian when he first started nor did frankie martinez who has used modern and contemporary in his routines its a matter of evolution
HAHAHAHA! JUEZES estupidos! Pero bien echo Cristian.
Echon bien para bailar Ballet? Ballroom, amigo es Salsa competition? no estan bailando por un show at Dance with the stars?? los jueses confundieron ente un show Majica y la Salsa!!
clear cut winner in my opinion......they def had a little bit of everything and they added onto the difficulty of the last time they performed this piece. fantastic dancers
