@Tokura0 yes because it acts as a base coat and the paint will sink into that instead of the cotton which will make is more vibrant

doesn't acrylic crack with the movement of the shoe? i thought oil is the way to go with paint.

hej, i want to ask you something, aren't the shoes getting really stiff? i mean, acrylic paint is getting really hard when it dries. like plastic! and, can i also use spray varnish? im going to customize my ballerinas and fake all stars =D otherwise i was going to trow them away :P
