i have a 2000 jetta, and i can drift like mad in the snow......pavement drifting is different i did that once and it took alot of speed, back road drifting is the best by bar, its hard and fun

Such a nice cars! Mine is similar 1.8 105hp 8V and tell you what, these things run like tanks. All to people who talk shit about VW reliability, shut the f*** up and realize that the most recalled for 2010 were TOYOTA, GM, Honda. Japanese reliability is a myth. mk2 jetta/golf the toughest car ever made. mine has 340,000 miles still going strong. but i went ahead and put valve seals in it at 300,000 miles cause it smoked when it was started in the mornings. and i rag it out everday too.

Not only VW owners appreciate them actually. I own a Cavalier but i appreciate all vws, but i used to be pretty much in love with them also, only problem was i couldn't find a decent vw around here for an affordable price :(

So i ended up buying a cavalier, 120hp, about equal to the 2.0L in the golfs and jettas. Though, i respect people that do up vws and cavs and sunfires, they're all not the most powerful cars and a lot of people see tham as POS. So its fun to see ones destroy those people :P

The reason why many people use the ebrake is to help learn how to control the car when it's sliding, and like deletedalien said drifting isn't like driving, it takes a lot more control. Though some people just like to have fun and use the ebrake to put it sideways, not to say "i can do this better than you" I don't understand why people like you seem to think there's only one way to do things, nobody is allowed to mix things up a bit to have fun. I "drift" for fun, race for fun, not to be better
