how to charge and use lipos

no.

every charger im aware of will need the main blk/red wired plugged in also.

A balancer like the hobbyking medic doctor will charge your battery through the balance port, thats only because its desighned to balance out of sync cells, and it should be noted takes several hours to do so.

Today most chargers have built in balancers so that charger + separate extra balancer hardware is getting rare. But in no ways is that setup any less effective,

just less common.

@1521joe don't know about your charger but mine has a STORAGE option. Basically it charges about 3/4 of it's capacity so it is ok to store it

@1521joe coz if u fully charge the battery and you don't use it for quite some time it may get damaged. Lipo batteries are very good but delicate. You must take good care of them in order to serve you for a long time

may i ask 1 more question.

in a 4 cell battery, what would you do if you noticed a weak cell or a cell that wasnt as good as the others.

for example... after finishing a balance charge, all cells are at 4.2v except 1 of those cells is at 4.1, while balance charging, you notice that cell falling behind so when all other cells are at 3.9v, this 1 cell is at 3.6v.

some of the far east lipos are particularly prone to doing this.

Yeah that can happen with cheaper lipos. It will still work fine but will give you less charge time on the battery. Was it like that from the beginning? or it happened after using it for several times?

the rule is 1c per every 1000mah

so your battery is 5000mah therfore charge it at 5c.

so the answer to your question is simply "yes"

hi guys and girls i have a question for any one that know whats wrong. ok i just bought a venom lipo 3400 mah battery and i have a onyx 2300 lipo charger and i have a equinox lipo cell balancer now i hooked it all up and set up the charger and the balancer will not light up at all and when i push start on the battery charger it says no battery and the battery is new i got today and the charger and balancer is new but it is about a year old but this is the fist time i used it.

sounds like a dead battery or bad connection test the battery output leads with a voltmeter.

The "A" next to voltage on my charger is the mah but divided by 1000? For a 2150mah battery do I enter 2.1 there?

Man damn..Wish I would've know you need all that in order for that charger to work..The hole damn Time I was looking for the plug that goes into the wall..I have another charger that's just like that but,it has the plug that goes into the wall..It also has the battery cables..With this thing you have to hook it up to a battery and all that other stuff..

Great information! I just bought a 11.1 volt 2200mAh 25C lipo that is going on a 30 amp motor. I will have to do the math and figure out my flight time. What I don't understand is the continues current of 55 amps verses the max burst rate of 110 amps with various flights of speed!
