@rjs11189 Yeah, as the water in the ground freezes, it expands, so the rocks have to go up. If possible, come visit in the summer. I understand it's waaaay more expensive, but it sure is worth it. August is usually beautiful, and is likely a bit cheaper than around June.
did you ever check out flat top in anchorage? it's beautiful you can see the whole city from up there xD if you didn't its a must see :D

You know all those rocks in the mudflats along the Seward Highway? They disappear in the summer when the ground becomes soft again.
