Kevin Volans - Piano Concerto No. 2 'Atlantic Crossing' (Hamelin)

I'm comparing him to Prokofieff because it seems as though he got his inspiration from Prokofieff's 2nd piano concerto

I was there for this concert (the world premiere). Amazing piece. Just to see his hands fly all over the keyboard like with no other piece was amazing. I met him afterwards and he said it was one of the hardest things he ever played.

The sheet music for this is frightening, and of course Hamelin tackles it like a hero. Outstanding piece, really, beautiful.

@madlovba3 You can get it and a plethora of other scores from digital.schirmer.com; you need to obtain a license to view their collection however, and the files are .pdc, which is a protected pdf file.

Fantastic piece - my favourite of his three piano concertos. Wasn't that impressed by his third, but I'll need to give it another listen.

@4candles Same here. Originally I was planning to post his 3rd concerto, but it wasn't as great as this one. I've listeneded to it only once, though; maybe after more listenings I'll see something in it, but it unlikely that I'd post it onto youtube.
