  • Damn man, Al Swearengen can play a mean electric sitar!

  • Sir, if John Coltrane was still alive, I think he'd ask you to play with him...awesome version

  • electric sitar ?

    cool song :)

  • Beauty is worth making alive. He did that here.

  • What the hell!? What kind of guitar is that? I have never laid eyes on a guitar like that before.

  • sounds like metheny. lol. xD

  • Astounding.

  • i really LOVE the INTRO!!! ^___^

  • Mesmorizing,

I could do a good Yoga session to this one.

  • This sounds just like the Sitar.

  • loved it man, so original and is very unpredictable with upcoming chords. great stuff

  • Yes, for those of you who don't know, he's playing a sitar. An electric sitar. Not very common....

  • ...Damn...

Funky guitar, great music. Rock on.

  • I thought he had fret buzz, lmao. No he doesnt.

  • lovely man!

  • lovely, man!

  • The pick up spacing and specific stings give it its twangy resonance.

  • @jpnbrad

    It's the bridge.

  • Its called an electric citar.

  • whats is that kind of guitar called?

  • @phillebeau it's another interpretation of a harp guitar.

  • first i thought this was some fucked up shit but now can't stop listen to it :P respect

  • we know !

  • I'm intruiged as to what would happen if you were to listen to this stoned... O-o

  • it's incredible man

  • your body would feel like like it Was the notes of the song.

Same feeling from the beginning of "amber" by 311.

  • After just waking up and packing a bowl, this song invigorates AND rejuvenates.

  • wtf is dat....its wierd but hot

  • It's a Rogue STR1 Electric sitar.

  • I want this instrument **

  • Coral Electric Sitar Designed by Vincent Bell IIRC and manufactured by Danelectro. These things are really neat!

Nice arrangement and playing too {:-)

  • pat metheny style

  • It's got a lot of Western chordal elements in it by the way :-) ... That the sound is very Indian like doesn't instantly mean the music itself is completely un-Western

  • Steve Miller used this type of guitar on the song "Wild Mountain Honey" I think.

  • Andy Mckee's House?

  • lol wow it looks like it.

  • Candyrat studio?

  • This is really good.

  • Sounds like a soundtrack from Diablo 2.

    Only relaxing and awesome.

  • lol yes it does, i play d2 alot so i know what you mean

  • thumbs up for playing d2 : )

  • you need to play fast so it can sound awsome :D

  • Mmmm........Yeah. What was that.

  • love!!!!! shiva!

  • yeah i'll take ist to my favs

    very nice

  • thats a fancy lil gizmo used in the beginnin

  • is that an india sitar?

  • Not being disrespectful, but I don't like this ..... It's original, but.... I don't know why I can't like it...maybe because it lacks musicality or a sense of rhythm.. there's no "hook" or melody...

  • That's cool I understand what you're sayin, this music ain't for everyone at least you have a reason for why you don't like it...unlike other assholes on youtube...

  • that's why we have youtube ;) ......

  • Superb ORIGINAL PIECE !!!!!!!

  • It's not an original, it's by John Coltrane. Still pretty awesome though!

  • thats the same kinda guitar thing metallica used to record the intro to wherever i may roam,

    nice playing man

  • YEA IT IS!!!! nice job man, someone who listens to metal and this peaceful stuff

  • viejo sos un capo loco ...alta chaquetaaaaaa

  • it's not a guitar it's a sitar :)

  • beautiful

  • that is one interesting guitar there

  • love that starting "rain"

  • Simply Stunning

  • Very soothing

  • has flavor of Hindustani music

  • very nice piece i love it

    love the guitar as well

  • bravissimo.

  • This guy is great in my heart.

  • sonds like a jazz guitarist just smoked opium

  • lmfao

  • Looks like Pat Metheny got some competition! :) Keep up the good work!

  • Dean ..I gotta say that when I first heard you on Candyrat! Nonetheless! I was like ..What the hell??But I swear for some reason you're starting to grow on me! lol ...uhhhh By the way..I didn't catch what planet you are from??

  • I smashed my guitar against my tv and it sounds just like that now (if you want one just try this)

  • This song should be about his shirt!! lol

Awesome song though..kinda made me think wayyy back about a game called "Yoshi's Story" on N64~~~ (>^.^)>

  • damn ppl are all your memmories related to games :(... Go out more!

    No offence.

  • None taken. Memories are about everything though. That is just one of millions >.>

If anyone has played Yoshi's Story on N64 they would agree with me. =D

  • I agree, thats one of the best games ever

  • yes i agree great game too btw

  • what is that type of guitar?

  • tis a rogue, i think.

  • bro!

its a vintage Danelectro Coral Electric Sitar!

rouge makes copies (not to bad ones)

  • ahhh i see, i'm not too good at identifying electrics, especially vintage ones. I'm more of an acoustic man.

  • what is that thing he scratched in the beginning..??

  • I guess by definition it is just considered a harp. Best thing I can come up with considering the string arrangement and the lack of frets.

  • awesome instrument. awesome sound, awesome playing amd awesome look (sitar and player)... XD

  • pat metheny?

  • This song gives me the feel of your shirt...psychedelically awesome...:D

  • holy shit a coral sitar

  • whats that noise in the beginning, is it the piup switch

  • drone strings

  • Nah, its a harp. The guitar is called a coral electric sitar, and it is basically a guitar tuned like a sitar so you don't have to do the strenuous tune ups to make it sound like one. It also has a small harp, which is what you heard in the beginning. It's a great instrument.

  • Wow.... So nice o.O

  • So relaxing and well composed, sounds like something you would hear in a dream.

  • Where can I buy his shirt ?

  • ur such a funky man. well done

  • its so soothing. :]

  • omg thats amazing.

  • OMG HAH:D

  • Is that... an electric sitar?! (now I want one...)

  • hahahaha mee too!!!

  • anyway..a tom anderson guitar works i think..

  • Check out Line 6's Variax. It has an electric sitar mode along with over a dozen other classic electric guitar sounds. I love mine!

  • The sitar sound on the variax isn't all that good, but on the semi acoustic variax it rocks, well sort off.

  • Beautiful chords and composition. However, i feel he plays too slow for my liking. That and i dont like the twangy tone.

  • if u don't like the twangy tone y r u listening to a sitar solo ?? :\

  • its a guitar solo with fx makin it sound like a sitar

  • Because i have an epic penis. /b/

  • haha...............yeh

  • hAHAH

  • old penisjoke is old.

  • Nice rendition. The guitar is very similar to that used by Phil Degruy

  • wonderful and i love the deep base.

  • hahaha amazing!!

    what instrument is that??

    is it a sitar?

anyway, great sound, wish i could play that some day..

  • Vai did a piece called "State of Grace" on his album "Sex and Religion". He uses the sympathic strings in between playing the melody - it's beautiful.

  • I played on one of these a few years ago, and also saw Vai play it live on his "Sex and Religion" tour (with Devin Townsend singing - awesome). The extra strings at the top are called "Sympathetic" they can be plucked or strummed but you can't change their pitch (other than tuning them). They are tuned to an open chord that sets the key centre of the piece. The 6 main strings pass over a metal block (hardly touching it) which sounds like a Sitar as they vibrate against it.

  • this is the most unique cover of this song I have ever heard. John Coltrane would be proud.

  • Wow... Acid trip?

    XD

  • tru dat tru dat

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • what kind of a guitar is that

  • I'm not a hundred percent, but I'm pretty sure that's a Jerry Jones Coral Sitar. I'm sure Steve Vai used one extensively on a lot of his older records so it's gotta be good! Lol. Hope that helps ;)

  • thanks

  • Pass that joint my friend ;')

  • peace man, lets all just flow away in the ocean. hand over that joint. Anyway... Sounds cool.

  • anyone has a joint?

  • Is is a sitar tuned just like a guitar?

  • Coral Sitar!!! I want one for Christmas.

  • Its guitar with sitar effect but the other stuff I have never seen on the guitar. cool and sounds great

  • ...s-uitar...

  • Whatever it is I want to play shred metal on it. hahaha

  • Steve Vai kinda sorta does... he's the only other guitarist I've heard use this instrument extensively.

  • its not a guitar, nor a sitar... its an ELECTRIC SITAR.. dont believe me, go to google images and search electric sitar and you will see one that looks exactly like the one he is playing

  • Maybe it a guitar, maybe a sitar, with 6 stringfs, like theres bass with 6 string, and guitars with 12 strings? :P

  • Thats a fucking electric sitar?

    LOVE YOURE SHIRT

  • excuse me? that sound pretty much like a sitar.

watch your language, your not actually gaining respect with me;)

  • i love your shirt!!!

  • Actually... it's a guitar. Sitar's don't have six strings.

  • if u look on the top of the instroment u can the extra tuning pegs for the other strings, fool

  • Everyone is just saying all this horrible stuff cause they can't play the guitar!

  • It's a guitar.

  • I WANT THAT INSTRUMENT.

  • You want it, I NEED IT!!

  • I don't care what the guy wearing, he's playing with his hearth and he's good.

  • Actually I retract that statement. I saw some of his other vids and they were actually ok. I guess he's just a hippy.

  • I think he is good

  • Yeah he is, This is just the first video that I saw and this just isnt my taste. His others are O.K.

  • I so have to agree.... its horrid.

  • what the hell is that instrument... first time seeing something like that...

  • an electric sitar

  • when i first heard the beginning i thought it was the intro for a capcom game haha

  • i have never seen one of those. but it was good.

  • nice sounds...

  • i have not time to learn to english grammar ...i speak perfectly my natal language..and i think my english is expressive

  • natal? wtf?

  • he means native idiot.

  • Well it's not my fault he doesn't know his vocab...

  • you have to be an idiot to not realize what the word was implying. Ugh

  • mr dean wants to touch the soul of boudha^^

  • learn 2 grammar

  • yeahhhhhh more magraw!

  • man, his shirt is crazy!

  • gaw damn.

if i had one of those things i would play all day.

  • For those of you that are wondering what instrument this is, I'm pretty certain it's a Rogue STR-1 Electric Sitar. Google that to see what it is (MusiciansFriend sells them). The little tiny strings at the top of the body that he plays individually at the beginning/end are sympathetic droning strings essential to a sitar (electric or otherwise) and help to give the sitar its unusual and exotic twangy sound. Thumbs up, Dean and Rob!

  • believe me, this guy is not using a rogue guitar. This is a Jerry Jones which is a reissue of the old 60's Coral Sitars. A rogue is just a cheap remake. All of those Rogue guitars on musiciansfriend are awful.
