I can play mine at bedroom levels under 2. With a cab of greenbacks which are quieter than most speakers.
I have also played another in a store that with volume on zero was louder than mine on 2 and when you moved the master up to 2 there wasnt much if any difference in volume until you got to 3.
Holy Marshall, i got one of these and this guy is correct, it is probubly one of the loudest amps one can own, i have only cranked mine two times and both times it was allmost blowing my small room because the volume was so high, it shook a good portion of the house!
Most of the time i use it around 1 and sometimes crank it to around 2, it IS deafening loud even at low volume!
I'am gonna get one more cabinet so to get a full stack for a more fuller volume :D
I had one of these back in the day. It was one of the first Marshall's to come with a master volume, which was good for me as I was living in a flat (condo 4 u 'merican's ;-) at the time. I found it had lots of top-end & not enough bottom, but I was playing single-coil pups. When u turn it up it started to breath a bit better, and you're right, it's a frickin' loud amp, probably the loudest I ever owned... I've had better Marshall's since, but the first one is always special... ;-)
Hi, cool amp, and playing. What volume are you playing in the video? Or are you using a Hotplate? Which cab do you use with the head? Regards, Jonas - Sweden

what year jmp is this? I have a 1980 jmp like this one and I love it! It sounds to me like this one has to be close to the same year.
