Also, you're right, it's very hard to capture the essence of the song because of how atmospherically layered it is. It definitely doesn't translate over to piano easily, haha -- all those airy, breathy synths going on in the background. Drives me mad! I think I tried too hard to capture all those elements in my own arrangement, whereas you've ventured to take the song in a whole new direction and created something not just fresh and unique but expertly played and arranged as well! Bravo. : )
@sosogood Hi, thank you man, I really appreciate it. Yeah this piece was very challenging to arrange and I feared that the additions would deviate from the original too much, but I am happy to see you like it. I love your videos, they have been an inspiration at the time I signed up here and they were one of the main factors in wanting me to play SH music, and I appreciate the fact you made sheets for your arrangements, so let me extend big thanks to you ;) Geeetings
I love how you've taken a piece so distilled and somber and turned it into a driving, expressive interpretation. In the chorus, the left hand's descending notes toward the end of each measure... incredible. It adds a real "epic" feeling.
@FreetheRobot I have been thinking of making some more horror related videos the next few weeks, and there is some good stuff from RE and also one really amazing track from Parasite Eve that I would love to do, but I don't know any Fatal Frame music. Do you have any suggestions?
Hey there Verdegrand, I have a quick question for you.
Do you think Theme of Laura from SH2 would sound good on the piano? I haven't been able to find a good piano version of the song yet. I want to hear your opinion on this matter. I know Theme of Laura (Reprise) has the melody of the original, but the piano is mostly used for accompaniment. Your interpretations of SH2 songs so far have been amazing.
@Nilzeot Hey thank you. So I think that Theme of Laura would be possible but definitely with more work than the shorter pieces but it might just work. The reprise version has a completely different feel to it, and I think it is possible to play every voice in that one. You will need to go to hell to find out :)
You really are making me a very happy youtuber lately Verdegrand! This gives me goose bumps! Oh, by the way, the letter from you girlfriend is in the back of the room... no, further in the back... what are you afraid of? it's not like I'm going to lock you here... teheheheh...
@Flapjackoftheyear hm i don't know if that one would be possible, first of all i recorded that one a couple of months ago so i don' know if i can reproduce it, then the second half was partially improvised. i'll have to talk to him which ones he actually wants to typeset. let's see ;)
Your arrangements really deserve to be written out. Are you able to record MIDIs? If you are I wouldn't mind typesetting them for you, it should be much quicker than deciphering audio.
@RigorMortis999 Wow, that would be totally awesome, I don't even know what to say, thank you man. I think I can record to midi, I'll send you something shortly. Time for the Notation Ninja to take over, huh? lol
