  • que de souvenirs sur cette chanson, je revois toute ma jeunesse ah nostalgie!!!

  • So much like Dinah Washington in her style; her voice was so strong. I love her song Hurt the best. So sorry to learn that she passed away from cancer.

I am getting chills just listening to her sing. Thank yu Basquelady for posting this.

    Iris

  • @irismcooper Thanks a lot for listening. It's very sad that cancer took such a great singer from us.

  • @Basquelady86

Una fantastica interpretazione; lascia le note in aria facendole riprendere dalla sottostante base musicale; molti singer dovrebbero apprendere come ci si emoziona interpretando una splendida canzone ! Mariotto 1944

    A fantastic interpretation !

  • @margot944 Mille grazie!!

  • @irismcooper It is interesting that you made the comparison between Timi Yuro and

Dinah Washington. It was Dinah Washington herself that said that Timi Yuro expressed

the emotion that she felt in her singing. These comments were made on the liner notes

for the Album " The Original ".

  • @MrListener43 Thank you for your comment. Though I am not a singer or musician, I have been told by people in the music business that I have a "good ear." You think . . .

    Have a magical day.

  • Second only to Etta James. An amazing performer. I wish I could express myself like she does in her music.

  • PODE SER EM PORTUGUÊS?, MARAVILHOSA INTERPRETAÇÃO PARA UMA LINDA MÚSICA, CONGRATULATIONS MR CHAPLIN, CONGRATULATIONS MISSES YURO

  • @LS32144 Muito obrigado!

  • "Timi" was always able to put a "unique" touch

    to anything She sang.

    Sighhhhhh............rip Timi

  • You won't hear a voice like this again in any lifetime...she is unbeatable!

  • This is my all time favorite of "Smile". Her voice is beyond compare.

  • For all of those wo remember her ---- what a wonder renderful rendition of "Smile". Was she ever great.

  • For some reason, Timi says "smile" but this song in her rendition can only make one cry in a positive way. She is the BEST EVER.

  • What a voice..........Timi can make anyone cry with her voice. If the words don't get you Timi's voice will. What soul, what heart and what a voice.

    Loved her voice.

    Vodkamarie

  • there is NOTHING like a 'timi yuro moment'.....and thanks to technology...lasting forever! ahhhhhhh....simply the BEST!!! :)

  • That's what I try to do every day.....:))

What a marvelous song and great Artist !!

    Big Smiling Thumbs Up !!!

  • Excelente talento .

  • No song ever brings more tears to my eyes then this version by her and yes it was a Chaplin song

  • was this one written by Charles Chaplin?

  • @63filmbuff NO, Chaplin wrote the MUSIC - NOT the lyrics

  • What a voice !! What Lady!!

  • This song cannot be performend any better by anyone.

  • I see ONE person DOESN'T want to smile

  • A voice that is unmatched by others... Somewhere between a Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline & Ella, Timi has a tone that you can listen to over and over. As a kid, I remember her doing HURT and even then, I was impressed with her range. What a great contribution to the music industry.... Her rendition of SMILE is the greatest rendition of all time.

  • Wow! This girl must've hung out with the church crowd. I'm familiar with What's A Matter Baby, but I haven't heard this gem since it was first played on the radio back in '62. Great singer.

  • this voice does not belong in heaven purely fantastic

  • Comment removed

  • This is without a doubt the BEST rendition of this song--ever!! Johnny Ray would even be proud! I always loved this lady's voice and her humility when she performed; something very unusual in the recording industry! Long live Timi's voice!! And RIP timi. Thank you for all of your wonderful recordings!!!

  • beautiful, beautiful, beautiful voice!!

Never heard anything like this before!!

    CHILLS!!

    Thanks

    Cynthia

  • Brings back memories of babysitting for a friend about 30 years ago!! She was from SA and introduced me to this artist!! RIP Joan Hill, great taste in music!!

  • fantastic

  • Thanks for this amazing memories. Timi will be always in the sky shininig like the real star she was.

    gurzua

  • WHAT VOICE! LUV'HER.

  • OK, that's what Chaplin meant.

  • To me this is the definitive version of "Smile." Timi Yuro got her start singing in LA. Too bad she moved to the UK and was sort of forgotten in the USA

  • @zeekwolfe Timi never lived in the UK, in the 80's Amsterdam discovered her song "Hurt" and it went to number one and she went off to Holland and performed for the Queen, she was there for a short while and treated like a queen. Timi moved to Vegas in her later years and passed away there. She is missed.

  • Now this is what you truly call "SOUL SINGING" from the heart....One of the best female singers I have ever heard, I can just see her singing this now...the feeling she puts into this I could listen to this for a lifetime and never tire of it.The lyrics, orchestration, and her voice just capture what I this song is all about...pure soul from the heart...you have great taste, Basquelady86....

  • The best female version of this song, for me anyway. Nat King Cole's is the ultimate male version, and Johnny Mathis does a fine job as well.

  • una voce divina che mi emoziona molto

  • Una original voz, una gran cantante...

  • @jobago52 Gracias por tu comentario.

  • Similar great voice like Winehouse..... just AMAZING......

  • I always loved this song... wonderful lyrics!! Marvelous voice!!!

  • SMILE ??? This is music to cut your rist's to ! ( LOL ).

  • @CharlesBarry

That's the genius of it. She brings out the intense, bittersweet sadness of the song, and of Chaplinesque comedy itself, perfectly.

  • @dogkelp Thanks for the reply, I agree with you ! but if I were depressed the way Timi sings this song it would not cheerer me up ! ( I do love the song and for me NOBODY will ever sing it like Timi ).

  • WOW! how can you not miss such a talent. thanks so much for the memories, she should be seen and heard forever. jg

  • @dijaview Thanks for your beautiful comment!

  • If this doesn't raise the hair on the back of your neck, go out and buy a pine box, you're already dead.

  • @vinnywa I HEAR YOU!! I got chills listening to this

  • this was written by Charlie Chaplin...but I don't think this is how he had intended it ;-)
