  • Why did it still auto focus when in the manual focus position? Shouldn't the setting have changed from auto to manual when you pulled the focus ring back?

  • I wish the sigma band wagon jumpers would get a life. This lens is optically much better than the sigma. Just because everyone and their granny has the sigma, doesn't make it any better. The difference is you all look the same, like clone photographers, carrying your sigma. This one is for people who want better images and don't buy gear for how it looks.

  • It sounds like a drill!

  • I have the Sony version of this lens and while its a pain to switch to MF the lens itself is a great buy for the money.

  • the speed ain't that bad, but hell sound just sucks.

  • This is bloody loud! :)

  • OOOh.... if you don't switch both to mf it's grinding the gears essentially? I don't think I have that problem with my tamron 17-50 on my Nikon D90.

  • These hunting af speed tests are irrelevant because the af behaves different when hunting compared to focusing on a target.

They dont do this in lens reviews for a reason and I wish peole would stop psting videos of this.

  • On the first one the focus is controlled by the body-based AF motor, on the secondary it's the lens own motor, right?

  • No,

both are the Body-based-AF. The Lens has no own motor by the Pentax-Version.

It Show's what's happen, if you Change between MF and AF at the lens, but not at the camera.

    so,

if you want to use the MF, you switch from AF to MF at the Lens AND at the camera -> absolutly uncomfortable

  • dang thats a horrid noise!! thank god for afs !! nikon all the way!!

  • horrible sound, definitely buy the sigma 70-200 hsm.

  • I think so...

  • @tjj2productions 10000000% right ! the Tamron looks ugly, is soooo noisy (whereas the sigma is completely silent)... And the result on the picture is the same....

  • Okay, what does anyone have to say about this lens? Would you use this lens for a wedding? Please respond.

  • A 50-135mm would be much better suited for that purpose on a Pentax Camera.

  • Yes i would and i have, aslong as you have it mounted on a K10-20D or K-7 you'll be fine as they have a beefier Af motor than other pentax bodies, but my copy is amazingly sharp, it's my 70% lense, use it 70% of the time. the AF/MF clutch is a bit redundant, will only work if MF is selected on body, can bit a bit of a noisy lense compared to a SDM.

  • @whoppers1000 Imagine attending a wedding and hearing that AF noise constantly. I'd say no, haha.

  • Can you change Manual to AF lens clutch whilst pressing the shooting button of the camera?

    thanks

  • Slow my ass?! It's a lot faster than trying to manual focus!

  • @awsomenesscaleb Naha!

  • That is so noisy!

  • Ganz schnell! Mein ist langsamer aber mit einer k200d.
