You were at a Control Point. If the Bane have control of the base, you try to take it. If you have control, then you defend it. All Control Points act in this manner.

I KNOW! And this is me at level 6 already at war. Lol the part I didn't show though was the aliens actually took over the base and it took a whole army of players to reclaim it.
