in my opinion, if we dont raise our kids pagan, then we're waisting our time as a religious movement. if children would like to be of a different faith then we should support that, however i believe we should raise them to believe as we believe first.
Lots of pagans say that they don't want to force religion on their children because of the way religion may have been forced on them as a child. I understand that, but also believe there is nothing wrong with raising children with religious views in general. If you are a Parent on the pagan path, Paganism is a way of life, If you are truly dedicated it would be impossible to hide your "way of life" from your children. You raise them, they become a part of it as well.
Heh, I just posted a vid about "Circle Round today and then your video showed up as related. :) My daughter is 8 years old now and startet to introduce her to the craft a little over a year ago.
Circle round is amazing! I have 4 boys that I am raising pagan. Another book you may want to look into is "Seasons of Magic - A Girl's Journey" by Laurel Ann Reinhardt. It's told as a story that I think you and your daughter might find enjoyable.
Good video, Great topic! Sorry I can't send video,I no have camera and am still very new to this technology.(gave up my clay tablets for hemp parchment last week!) Anywho when my son was born,my wife& I was in coven. Now for last 10/11 years we have been solo,so he has been raised in both situations. When in coven we used a book "the family wicca book" by Ashleen O'Gaea. Since going solo we didn't follow the book. He's now 19 years old an follows a more Buddist/ Tao path and is happy! Bleessed Be
I'm getting married in 2 weeks. I watch your video & I gotta say, thanks. Ever since I devoted myself into the Pagan path, I wanted to teach & raise my future child(ren) the same path. It also helps with Jesse (my husband) too is interesting in the path.
Watching this video, it will help me a lot in the future. So thanks. Bless be! )0(
I'm going to link the video I just put up of my 2 daughters singing outside having their own Mabon ritual outside while I cleaned for our celebration guests. You should enjoy it! Good job rearing her this way. It is vital, though, to let our children know that their path is their own and NO ONE can choose for them, not even us. Teaching them to love and respect and be interdependent is the most vital part of rearing children in the Goddess tradition! Great video!!
nice vid btw i love your dauthers name. I am a pagan parent as well and i do try to raise my 3 girls as such . little hard for me im devorced so... but i think ill be getting the book you showed. If for nothing then for a tool to offer the younger pagans that have recently asking me fo helpand i ideas on how they can raise the children in the path.
I have been considering raising my children as pagans (when that day comes), and this vid was very interesting. I do completely agree that involving your children in your own spiritual life is not forcing a religion on them. It is only when you restrict them in the future from branching out and exploring their own spirituality that it becomes a problem. Kudos!
This vid was interesting . I looking into Paganism on my search for a religion that I actually related to . Its was one of the closest . I ultimately decided that I am free from religion , and will raise my son to think for himself on thoughts of God and spirituality . Its good to see others who dont take the ''typical'' Christian rout !
This video is awesome! I'm 14 and I live in the bible belt, named Marysville. My family is agnostic, so I found Paganism on my own. It's so cool to hear about parents raising their children in the pagan ways. And I love the name Piper! Haha.
Pagan crafts are awesome. I am glad that your getting involved with your daughter in a spiritual way, and I was very happy to hear that you are going to let her decide for herself what religion is best for her. Best of luck! <3
One thing you may want to look into is something called Spiral Scouts, you can Google them. Theyre basically a Pagan version of Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts all rolled into one. I'm not sure how big the organization is but my impression is that they have groups in most major cities.
Thanks! I have actually looked into them and there is not a troop anywhere near us. We live out in the middle of nowhere. lol I thought about starting one some day but as we are never home I don't know how well that would go over. I am not sure I would find anyone to join either. I would love to be able to do that some day though:)
That is one problem with them. My fiancee and I are moving to Maine in the next few years and we hope to be able to find or start out own troop for our children when they are born. I was in boyscouts for about five minutes (When I learned you actually had to DO stuff, I was OUTTA there) and we arent too enthusiastic about girlscouts but we'd like to have somewhere our future children can go and be with other kids, learn about things like community and honor, virtues of that nature :)
Circle Round is an excellent resource book. :)

I'm so grateful that my parents didn't have these ridiculous beliefs. Raising children on this nonsense is incredibly harmful.
